It's kind of a two way street. I don't get it as much but back when I was dancing at a ladies only club or just walking around you ladies can get pretty frackin aggressive. Worse when they find out I'm with somebody.

Good idea, Sooz, but it won't work reliably. I wear a (conservative by SL standards) suit when I teach class. I STILL get an occasional hit from a student. Good for the ego, not so great for class discipline.

In my experience, the chances of being hit on are proportional to the number of recently-born residents in the area.
I got through OI and HI without being hit on too much.
Once out and homeless apart from a Linden dumping ground, I quickly learnt to fly up immediately after logging in. Guys waited at the standard rezzing spots to schmoose incoming females.

Once I got to logging in to where I had logged out, and then after I got my own First Land, things quieted down, but I still felt a need to put a "Thanks but no thanks guys" in my profile.
Then females started hitting on me.

Not bragging here! Just reporting my experience.

I do notice that if I dress in a style that some (going back in the threads) would term "slutty", the incidence of guys and gals hitting definitely climbs.

Last night, I was dancing at a place I go to occasionally. Mostly female but males welcome.
A guy arrives. Standard OI noob in appearance. A clone!
Just stands there silently - what I termed the Weak Silent Type

Still waters run deep. He's silent and immobile, but he's hitting on the club owner in IM, with lines like:-
- I feel horney, anything I can do about that?
(That was politely slapped down)
- well, you dance well, not sure how you manage to do that.... but u succeed well
- Jez, you look good dancing....!!!!!
- your Skirt is way too short to keep a male quiet!!!!!
- how can they resist you?

He's done nothing whatsoever to customise his standard noob avatar and clothes.
He thinks that if he tells a girl of mind-blowing appearance that he's "Impressed" then she's going to swoon into his arms. He does! He really believes it.

Finally he moves and sits on one of a pair of dance poses.
So I changed to my General Hobo avatar and sat on the other.

There was mention of off-putting avatars some pages back.
The General Hobo shape wearing a set of silks is a sight to run quickly away from - screaming.

Can you imagine? Lindal teaching a sex ed class to an entire classroom of forum members? Oh, the humanity. The lab sessions would be...I don't think there's even a word for it. Please let that happen.
