Because they know they are gona lose thier shirt when sl starts to lose people to better worlds ![]() Perhaps, but they also could be looking to make that up by new people using SL as their Entry to Virtual Worlds. People will continually come into SL, some will move on, but some will stay. _____________________

The global difficulties at the moment are affecting just about everyone. One would think things will improve at some point and then things will become more busy in every facet, although that's not assured.
There's a certain amount of liferaft-clinging being done in general at the moment as we all try to get through this unfortunate economic situation, not to mention the other things that are happening. _____________________

posting pics from the beta is strictly against the Non-Disclosure Agreement you signed. Did I take them or are they from some high-quality gameplay vid that is up anywhere on the web...? _____________________

And who will keep your BM neighbors from littering your view? Granted, I am assuming here that you're not dishing out a few hundred dollars a month for a private city... Have the released pricing yet for their the equivalent of a sim? _____________________

How much did Blue Mars pay you? She's still pretty. ![]() Blue Mars is a low rent Cinderella. How much did LL pay you to say that? ![]() _____________________

First will be the content creators I wouldn't say that too fast. In SL, a content creator is able to create something new with extremely limited resources. In Blue Mars, content creators will need to be certified before they're allowed to bring anything out. It's a lot more regulated there, and there's little doubt that this certification will involve a pricetag higher than that of uploading the small dozen of textures like the really determined content creators in SL start out with. Some content creators will like a new playgarden, but for most, the freedom, with the emphasize on FREE in SL is just a much better deal. Apart from all that, there has been feedback that LL is working on a completely new viewer, SL2. Few people know what it will bring, but the 2 is very interesting. This means they are not working on SL v1.X.Y.Z, but on an entirely NEW viewer and server combination. These will probably both be compatible with SL as we know it, but with features, bells and whistles far beyond the current kit. For all we know, half the JIRA's standing out now might be non-issues in SL2, simply because they can be solved there, while they couldn't be solved conveniently in SL1. |

Have the released pricing yet for their the equivalent of a sim? No. Admittedly, I go on hunches here. We'll see when it goes live, but I have not a single second of doubt it will not be cheaper than SL. _____________________

are those pics from blue mars? looks like SL... pretty, and pretty empty XD It's the beta. Access is limited, of course it's not going to be full like Second Life. It's not even open. The cities are just sample builds, and hardly reflect what various developers are going to do. The avatars will probably look different, in fact, much will probably look different. But no one is holding the proverbial gun to anyone's head. If Blue Mars (or any other new virtual world) really does turn out to be all icky, well, no one will play it much. Then again, if it turns out fun, people will play it. They may even play both games. Personally, I'm excited by what I've seen, so I've dug in and spent some time learning. I will say that a couple of snapshots from the beta are about as informative as my showing someone a Ruth avatar and telling them that's what SL is about. _____________________

From the pictures it looks like the place is inhabited by girls with fat butts, just the same as SL.

Comparing SL to Blue Mars is likened to comparing McDonalds to the Waldorf Astoria.
If all you expect is burgers, don't look at Blue Mars for a quick meal. By the same token, don't walk into McDonalds and expect chateaubriand. SL is trailer trash, while BM is a gated community. BM is not about inept blingtards, it's about innovative developers. |

You can be sure, I won't take the time to try and take an objective look at it. |

Heck of a way to encourage people to move over. ![]() If that's the type of exclusionary attitude over there, I'd rather stay with the blingtard, trailer trash. And BTW, The Waldorf is highly over rated, and overpriced. ![]() _____________________

I'm torn between shaking my head and asking why you are still bothering to post here then. Bye! Because I have a right to speak. I also find it laughable, to watch the inept mask envy with negativity about something they know absolutely nothing about. |

Dave, either get a clue or your head out of your ass. I am a network engineer at BM, involved in multiple projects on the leading edge of technology. I suggest you might want to check where your own head is. |

BM is not about inept blingtards, it's about innovative developers. But even so, after the beta, I bet a big BM grid will be opened to the social networking masses, with a bunch of neat content and no specific 'game' on it, because how else can they test scalability, really? No test harness will generate enough random behavior to meaningfully test the scale that Avatar Reality needs. Whether the emergent "society" will continue to be hosted, once developers role out their own games within BM, is questionable. I haven't seen any statements from Avatar Reality executives that indicate an interest in social engineering for an online community. . |

![]() They are working for me. I will try again, because SL can look very grand and impressive and these are a good example http://www.flickr.com/photos/30659775@N05/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30659775@N05/3625704272/sizes/l/in/set-72157619735406408/ Infact the ones of the sea and the cliffs look more like BM than Sl. lol |
