Personally, I'm shooting mute bullets and ignoring flames  /me whistles "Everything Is Beautiful" (can you tell this is the first day of my first holiday for a while? YAY!). @HoneyBear - ok ... he's complaining that there's going to be people going off and ARing everything they think is not attractive regardless of whether they are actually wrongdoers or not. He is right, in this sense, that this behaviour will happen and will do more harm than good - IMO only because LL will be so utterly swamped with ARs they prolly won't be able to cope (HIRE ME!). However he's chosen to do it in what I personally feel is a trolling manner designed to first confuse and then to cause arguments so he has something to kick back at. Shrugs. _____________________

Today is a sad day in SL. We are less free today than we were last Friday. Mob justice has taken hold. Some of our most respected members have reformed the purity patrols that ran rampant last spring. Lynch mobs and witch hunters abound. So today, I mourn for that which was lost, for the principles of freedom that were overturned for the illusion of safety. This is so tiresome and stupid. Please give up the drama. This isn't Tibet, or Cambodia, or 1920s Berlin. You're actually cheapening the concepts of liberty by trumpeting this stuff in regard to an online virtual business that is being deliberately ruined by a few abusers. My liberties are quashed because I can't wave my dick around at my office. Is it legal for you to erect a 25 foot rotating Umnik tower in your neighborhood? If not, Big Brother must have taken over your town. |

The basis for this is quite simple, if you regularly read the blogs you may notice that even if a Linden says "this will not effect avatars that squat in the jungle" at least 25% of replies will be "Oh Lindens get it wrong again, now all my jungle alts that squat in the jungle will be nerfed", this also in a way reflects on many assumptions made about the Adfarm blog. To me, apparently 90% of those who have campaign for something to be done about this have read rules into this which obviously just don't apply, people are adding their own agenda's for their own sakes, and not necessarily for the good of everyone. |

Yes just another step down the long slope, we lost the ability to rape and murder, to plunder and steal, Orbit people at will anywhere, to Capture roleplay even with unwilling avatars, to crash sims at will, to set up Gambling places in which you could never have to pay out anything to the winners, to partake in child porn or even regular porn in PG areas, to open Financial institutions with no accountability to anyone and at last today we lost the ability to extort huge sums of money out of our neighbors and friends. This is truly a Black day... I think it rates two crocodile tears. I sense sarcasm  _____________________

But good gosh, we've seen what people do with that much freedom, and it sucks. It really sucks. If everybody were as principled and upright as you (and me, most days), the unlimited, no-rules freedom thing would work. But human nature keeps getting in the way. That's why governments and laws and all that stuff is necessary. We never do seem to be able to hit the happy medium, though. The pendulum swings...eventually, things get so tied down (in RL or in SL) that the masses rise up and throw off their shackles. Then things are loose and free again, for a while, until people start taking advantage, and... _____________________
