Today is a sad day in SL. We are less free today than we were last Friday. Mob justice has taken hold.
Some of our most respected members have reformed the purity patrols that ran rampant last spring. Lynch mobs and witch hunters abound.
So today, I mourn for that which was lost, for the principles of freedom that were overturned for the illusion of safety.

A clever ploy to start off the Friday thread with things that make you go "Huh?????"?

While you may be waxing somewhat hyperbolic, I do agree with the sentiment. I see a lot of good intentions being turned into a crusade that will in the end do more harm than good. In the name of addressing a real problem, many will now take it upon themelves to dictate how others live. While no doubt, many will act responsibly and thoughtfully, this will give others license to shoot first and ask questions later. All that can be hoped is The Providers will deal with each report properly and take appropriate action when necessary.

From: Chris Norse Today is a sad day in SL. We are less free today than we were last Friday. Mob justice has taken hold. Yes just another step down the long slope, we lost the ability to rape and murder, to plunder and steal, Orbit people at will anywhere, to Capture roleplay even with unwilling avatars, to crash sims at will, to set up Gambling places in which you could never have to pay out anything to the winners, to partake in child porn or even regular porn in PG areas, to open Financial institutions with no accountability to anyone and at last today we lost the ability to extort huge sums of money out of our neighbors and friends. This is truly a Black day... I think it rates two crocodile tears.

2k Susei: 1) Learn to resize images. It's really very simple if you follow some basic instructions 2) Thank you for splashing gay-themed advertising all over the monitors of those of us who are scanning the threads at work. I think I'll avoid the watercooler for a while... .

This is truly a Black day... I think it rates two crocodile tears. Starting this thread would, of course, be better used to urge moderation amongst people reporting as I've tried to do elsewhere (not that anyone ever listens to me). However this made me laugh a lot Alice, and sums it up to me. The freedom to harass people with spawning rubbish as far as the eye can see, the freedom to hold people to virtual ransome ... yeah ... freedom ... MEH. How about the freedom to not have to see what annoys? MUTE is our friend (and should also be for objects!). Whatever will they ban next? Being a troll or a griefer? SHOCK HORROR THEY PUT IN LAND TOOLS!!! I don't think it's a black day at all. It's great that the overwhelming majority of people who are not vigilantes or Forum Warriors will just heave a sigh of relief that eventually the guy next door selling 16sqm for 10K and putting on a temp rezzer with a pile of rubbish will not have to cost them 10K to get rid of him. GOOD! It's not a black day to me. The sunshine is streaming through the window, spring is in the air ... ah ... leaves are budding ...

2k...could you knock that off please? I don't come to this forum to get spammed. Thanks.
Chris - I'm utterly confused. Everyone's been complaining about the ad farmers for months, and now that something is being done about it, people seem to be complaining about that. Could someone enlighten the blonde please? I apparently need clarification.
