From: Ishina Xue Here is the dictionary definition:
Pep noun: 1. A captious individual who cannot resist the urge to correct a spelling and/or grammar mistakes even in informal settings. After pointing out the linguistic shortcomings in others, a Pep feels a strange sense of twisted and unconstructive intelligentsia delight.
In reality, they are making someone else feel bad for no reason and unintentionally implying that their "superior" grammar skills are all they have to show for a wasted liberal arts education.
While proper grammar usage is all well and good, a Pep cavils even insignificant errors in English to somehow win an argument, or create an argument. Of course, rather than being genuinely persuasive in an argument, pointing out English errors is a weak attack only on the typist's credibility and never has any bearing on the underlying premises and assertions therein. In other words, this is simply a disguised ad hominem argument which intelligent and logical people disregard.
2. A generic internet sphincter who proofreads dictionaries for fun, also known as a Grammar Nazi. All forums and message boards have at least one of them. Nobody actually likes them, but tend to tolerate them nonetheless out of disinterest in actually trying to reason with them and the dull exchange of irrelevant monologue that will likely ensue afterwards as a result of giving them the attention they crave.
3. Slang: a testis
...............
Shakespeare: What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason! How infinite in faculty!
Pep: Speak in complete sentences, you idiot.
Shakespeare: The ability to communicate both colourfully and effectively is much more admirable then perfect grammar so stop sucking Webster's bell end, you Grammar Nazi. We're looping. Goodnight all. Too much like shifts in the psych ward O.O

From: Talarus Luan I don't use the ignore button. If I want to ignore someone, I just ignore them. Right now, I'm just enjoying myself. His ego and psyche are quite fragile if the only thing keeping him going in the forums are these little tit-for-tats. I post, he responds. Just like a well-trained dog. Pavlov would be proud. You make one mistake there though: Pep makes the post, you react to what he does. So I suppose there are well trained dragons as well

From: Laurin Sorbet @ Ring, I take it under advisement.
I'm not new here. Sigh. Nor am I an alt. Nor are explanations warranted.
Of course Pep will never stop. Lordy me and gawd all mighty. There are special buttons for Pep. Plates of cheese. You can get along with him. The choice is yours. no, the choice is his. he's the one going around like a walking-talking doucebag. i'll continue to keep my nose clean, thank you. you know, there's an old saying - if everyone else has a problem with you, it might not be everyone else who has the actual problem...

From: Ishina Xue Sorry, I should have said something about cheese instead. My bad. Your comment recalls preschool fieldwork, " well done you! Cheese! Good job keeping up!" In other circumstances, perhaps we would get along well. I'm sure you got the real point. Either way, I am bored by this, and tired.I wish you a good night's rest.

From: Marcel Flatley You make one mistake there though: Pep makes the post, you react to what he does. So I suppose there are well trained dragons as well It depends on your point of view. I make the post, and he reacts to what I say. It goes both ways. Which end of the circle are you sitting on? Is it coming around, or going around? Everyone's entitled to their opinions and has the freedom to express them; that I won't knock.

Everyone's entitled to their opinions and has the freedom to express them; that I won't knock. I disagree, a circle is actually without beginning and end, where in this thread its very clear who wrote the first reaction to the other, ergo who started the little chat between you and Pep. And that is Pep, your first posting in this thread was a reaction to him, not the other way around. And of course he keeps reacting to you just as you do to him. That, in fact is my main reason to post this anyway: Too many times endless arguments start where people think the other one should stop. Some pot-kettle effect, as in general both parties refuse to stop themselves, while blaming the other party they do not stop. Now you and Pep were not accusing each other of that same thing, but your posting was the perfect example of how people can think wrong

From: Rioko Bamaisin Grunting is hard LOL! I have never bothered working out this forum sig business, but I might have a go if I could borrow this please? It just fits SO many situations perfectly (and no, I haven't read the last few pages of this thread so I have no idea of the context of this comment)

From: Laurin Sorbet Of course Pep will never stop. Lordy me and gawd all mighty. There are special buttons for Pep. Plates of cheese. You can get along with him. The choice is yours. What incentive does anyone have to "get along" with him? What effort does he make to "get along" with anyone else? Last time I checked, calling people "dumb", "illiterate", etc, downplaying their strengths, and underscoring their weaknesses, even in the most trivial of examples, is not the most conducive route towards "getting along". All I see is a pedantic boor, because that's the only side he ever bothers to display that I have seen. Now, he may be the most wonderfully witty and bright person to grace the face of the Earth in Real Life(tm), but it sure doesn't come out here in the forums. As such, what's my incentive to bother with him beyond a minor amount of deprecating wordplay for amusement value? Maybe there is some value in getting to know the "Real Pep", but as for incentive to exploit it? Zero. So, as long as he won't stop being a dick, others won't stop responding to him as one. I may stop for a while, but there are more than enough others to fill the void; he makes sure of that. "Ignore him and he'll go away" isn't any more a realistic solution than responding to him. As you say, he'll never stop.

Pep (Except for the cheese. More cheese!) Finally, I felt ignored already Glad that was not talking nonsense, and do not worry, most of what I said already is forgotten. I still think that Pserendipity Daniels can be a prick once in a while, but I do value more of the postings then I did a while back.

Zero. < blah > You really don't have a clue do you? What incentive do I have to make *you* like me? What could you *ever* do for me? I like smart, sassy, sexy women and you don't qualify in any of those categories. It seems, however, that there are some perceptive people out there in the forums (serendipitously, mainly female, although occasionally my asexual name does cause some confusion) who enjoy my blatantly barnstorming role of forum dragon slayer and throw metaphorical knickers up on to my virtual stage, a la Tom Jones. They don't all permanently survive the intensity of one to one friendship with me, but they seem to enjoy the journey - and I certainly revel in their company and conversation - and I don't have to trawl the dancehalls and bars of sl and experience vacant profiles and even more vacant dialogues to identify soulmates. Pep (And no, it's not merely about sex; my most famous liaison was a three day marriage annulled because I couldn't stay awake! )

And that is Pep, your first posting in this thread was a reaction to him, not the other way around. And of course he keeps reacting to you just as you do to him. Actually, you are incorrect (note that I am not going to call you "dumb" or "illiterate" over it, unlike a certain person here). My FIRST posting is post #121 which was an isolated assertion, not a response to anything Pep said specifically. You also miss the fact that the little "circle" we are going in extends well before this thread into other threads, with his little "senile dragon" barbs and my "Poop" barbs here and there. That was MY point in mentioning which end of the circle you are sitting on. Yeah, of course a circle has no "ends", but unless you want to hyperanalyze the historical origins of our interactions here in this forum, it effectively represents the situation. From: someone That, in fact is my main reason to post this anyway: Too many times endless arguments start where people think the other one should stop. Now you and Pep were not accusing each other of that same thing, but your posting was the perfect example of how people can think wrong I don't care if Pep stops or not; clearly, I have no control over what he does. However, if he is intent to continue throwing "Poop" around; I'm happy to take a turn in the barrel on occasion to make sure his side of the aisle gets its fair share. As long as Pep is game to play, I'll be around. He's always good for some lulz.

From: someone ... who enjoy my blatantly barnstorming role of forum dragon slayer ... Funny, I don't see any Dragon corpses laying around here. Must be more of your sock puppet show. Do continue.
