From: Argent Stonecutter Why would anyone bother? What's the motivation? I've been giving scripts out full perms in full perms objects for three years, and the worst that's happened is that someone decided to make them no mod no transfer and sell them for three times what I sold them for.
If someone wants to hide who they are, there's plenty of full perm scripts created by Lindens to play with. why do griefers do the things they do as I said it was a guess as to why some folks choose to not put mod on transfer items... *shrug* someone may have an issue with another, and would use the mod/transfer items to try to cause problems for the other... (so therefor have no desire to use the full perm linden stuff to "hide" behind... who knows why people do the things they do.... I am just trying to think of reasons why folks would make transfer stuff no mod, and that could be one reason

While out shopping today, another wish came to mind:
While taking pictures of your clothes, do not wear your tatoos if they are not part of the outfit as I cannot really tell what that lace inset really looks like. The store I was in today potentially lost a lot of sales from me. I found quite a few items that I *thought* I liked, but was not sure because the same set of tatoos obscured every photo.

From: Rhaorth Antonelli .... or do you mean if it is like undershirt layer for a bra and undershirt layer for a top in the same box, not labeled as to what each piece is... .... Yes, that is what I meant - especially irritating when there are multiple items on the same multiple layers. For instance, a top with lace on the undershirt and top layer and a top without lace on both layers - and then call them shirt 1,2,3,4. I actually see stuff like this sometimes.

How about ten computers in a school or shelter or hospital or rehab centre somewhere in the real world where they are really needed? That would be a good present from all of us.

From: Jig Chippewa I found one useful when I was in there. I was allowed 15 minutes a week. Oh sorry... I mean.. glad you are well again....... But it seems you replace one addiction with another... no offence.. I've never had to be in a rehab center myself so could never judge you... or anyone there... But certainly the idea of giving a pc to someone who can not afford is a great idea.

My next request of creators -- if your LM is going to drop me into a common landing point in a area, please tell me where your store is in relation to that common landing point. I just flat gave up on a few stores today because I was not willing to spend more than a few minutes trying to find the freaking place. /me thinks her xmas shopping crabbies are hitting a bit early this year - wonders off in search of more wine to calm her down.

If I were to have my Christmas wish granted in SL, it would be for the endless lag that has been going on for some days now to just stop already. Something has to be done about it.
Or maybe I'm at fault for the lagging issue?

From: Pyrite Sopwith Or maybe I'm at fault for the lagging issue? I may have the same problem as you do. I have a NVIDIA Graphics Card installed on my PC last month. It is an 8500GT, to be exact. I have the box it came in, and it does not read "GeForce 2" or "4." If you have the same problem as I do, you might wish to ask Santa for a better Graphics Card this Christmas.

On another track, a request from a creator to creators:
For the people who use big scripts like Francis Chung's Franimation Overrider, or my Cyberflight... there's licenses on these scripts. They're usually pretty lenient, so please honor them. Some of the common ones have years of work in them ... I have spent time working on my own AO script and, you know, all those weird special cases in them? They're really necessary. I gave up and just use Franimation clones instead, just like everyone else.
Franimation is GPL, so if you mod it and hardcode the names of your own animations in it... you gotta release THAT version. Really, that's what the license says.
(no, I'm not Francis Chung's alt or sock puppet)
Cyberflight? I don't require that, but you must credit me. And I would like to be informed when you use it... you don't have to, but it'd be nice.

I notice that this has turned into a discussion of *clothing* designers, only.
Here's some more wishes from me, for other kinds of creators:
Animation makers: animations for avatars with unusual proportions: short legs, long body, short arms, so a ferret can sit down without being buried in the ground. And... more subtle animations. Maybe change out the animations you sell just for the sake of changing them, with minor differences, so you don't see a whole room of avatars doing the same "wipe the **** off my foot" animation at the same time.
Avatar makers: less common species! I don't care about a new cat avatar. I want fossas and kinkajous and civets and yapoks and numbats and linsangs.
Vehicle makers: stop selling no-mod vehicles. Actually, that goes for just about everyone. No-mod is a pain in the neck for anything, but for some reason it seems to be most common for people building aircraft.
Everyone making primmy stuff: a sample texture with the main colors of your product in it, so I can stretch them over extra prims instead of trying to match them with tints. For tiled textures, include that texture no-transfer for individual customization. Have pity on those of us less skilled than you who want to stand on your shoulders... we're strong advocates for extra sales.
Everyone who uses little scripts in their products: if the value of the product isn't in the script... make the script full perm, or if you're paranoid about that put a copy of it in a notecard. It rarely takes me more than a few minutes to come up with a replacement for it, but after writing code all day it's just not so much fun reverse-engineering a script before I can extend it with whatever extra cool stuff I want to do in it. The value of your product isn't in a 20-line script that's barely different from the almost-identical 20-line scripts all your competitors use, it's all the cool non-scripty stuff that's, well, cool.
Oh, and when I do give you an enhanced version of your script back, after I've reverse-engineered it, don't get all weird about it. I can't make the cool stuff you make, which is why I keep buying it. Second Life would be boring if we were all identical.
Anyway, that's my wishes for now.

The beacon should point you towards their store, unless they just put a LM to the mall in the product. Of course people often disregard the beacons, and this is why I don't give out landmarks to my stores in malls, or include them in my picks. Landlords, mall owners... this kind of thing isn't really all that clever, and it's counterproductive.

This is interesting...I have a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE which was installed years ago after an EQ expansion pack issue. I haven't been experiencing the lag I've heard people talk about at all. I am running a desktop system, so not sure if that makes a difference.

On the product photo/lm issue: Being an inveterate organization/keep inventory low freak, I put one card in my product boxes. That contains my thank you for purchasing, any special instructions that may be needed, an invitation to join my group, then the lm to my shop with typed info underneath like:
<landmark inserted> *Czari`s Attic* Satellite shop
I have one card as a template with all this info, and then just change what is needed (product name, add any instructions, etc.) as needed, so it's easy to keep track of.
Since most of my products are on display to be viewed and touched prior to purchase, haven't put photos in, but now that I read this thread, I will start for my non-touchable items, like jewelry.
At any rate, I don't want to see a lot of things to delete when I purchase something, so, for me, having all the info necessary on one card works.

I just click it to see... Specificly I wish more hair makers would include these photos....

That is something I keep meaning to do, but always end up forgetting ty for the reminders everyone (just put out new hair last night, so gonna go throw the texture in the box before I forget) Speaking of photos.... is there a way to make it so when you upload textures, they are automatically full permission? I hate having to go in and set textures to full permission manually, pain in the ass when there are a lot of them
