What wishes would you like SL's content creators to grant this Christmas?

Christmas is coming up, and already in RL I'm being bombarded by the usual, "What do you want for Christmas?" requests from family members. I never have an answer when put on the spot with that question (which is probably why I usually get told, "I'll give you money, then,";) but I always think of something *afterwards*.

I have wishes in SL, too. Things that bug me at times, things that are easily fixable or that could easily be changed. And many of these are to do with items I have bought. So I started this thread for us to tell SL's content creators our Christmas (and year-round) wishes.

My wish: I wish more clothing and accessory designers would include the attachment points for their prim items in the item's name (or, if the name is too long, then include a notecard with the attachment points listed).

It's happened to most of us. Ladies, ever tried putting a belt from one outfit with a skirt from another, only to have your prim skirt vanish? Submissives, ever had your collar detach when you've been trying on a coat with a prim collar? Married couples, ever had a bracelet or glove cuff remove your wedding ring? Drivers, ever tried a wearable vehicle only to find your coat tails disappear?

Yes, there are workarounds to my Christmas wish, but it's just something I'd like to see. I also agree with Immy, who I know has often said the SL avatar needs more attachment points. But that *isn't* something content creators can do anything about. Let's keep this thread to things they *can* do something about, and what you'd love to see (or see more of).

So, what wishes would you like SL's content creators to grant this Christmas?

My version of this is wishing things would come in multiple versions for different attachment points - eg hair that comes in say 3 versions one attaching to skull, one to mouth and one to nose.

And at some point it would be really useful if LL could arrange a way to be able to see where something was going to attach before you put it on.

going from the opposite side of the coin

as a content creator I would like to see more customers who are not afraid to ask for custom layers or custom attachment points

I can not know what everyone wants, and to try to fit it all in one box, well let's say in some cases that would be over 100 pieces in a box, unrealistic

so....

if you are a consumer, and you see something at my store that you really like, but would want it on say... jacket layer, and it is not included on jacket layer.... please please please contact me, and see if I will do it for you (your chances of me doing it are extremely high, unless something unexpected has happened in RL stopping me from doing so)

My goal is to please the customer, because without you, my stuff would just sit there, doing nothing

I love creating thing, and it is such a thrill when folks come to my store and buy my stuff (sure it is only a few lindens, but those lindens help)

I want to make sure you get what you want, and that your shopping experience is pleasant.

so my Christmas wish is.... don't be shy, if you want something specific please just ask me :)

Mmmm, Christmas.... :)

I'd definitely like tops packaged in multiple layers as I like to mix and match
(Yes, I hear what you're saying Roarth, and your customer service is very appreciated, but a lot of my shopping is impulse buying and I don't want to wait for the designer to log in. Not everyone is as accommodating as you are.)

I'd like more tops in long version without leaving the midriff bare. (I am seeing this more and more, which is nice)

Prims that fit - I've got a huge number of outfits in my inventory that are utter prim disasters in spite of what the cleverly angled and photoshopped ad image displayed. Having prims that are actually of the same colour as the rest of the outfit is nice. I wear a lot of black not because I lack imagination, but because mismatched colour is less noticeable :)
My god, if someone can create a truck-size dragon that looks utterly amazing, why can't anyone make that crotch patch on short skirts fit?

What's with the system pant flare? Like being back in 1976 even if you mod the width. More prim pant cuffs, please (see above point, though :D ) In underwear AND pant layer.

More hair for guys that looks like hair for MEN. Or just get it over with and put some pretty bows in those ponytails.

Clothing that fits plus-size avatars without half an hour of tweaking. And no, the stretch in all directions option does NOT make the prim skirt fit properly, it needs to be designed for us. I would be happy to send a test shape to any designer that asked.

Ditto what she said, more hair for men, specifically looking for: longish wavy hair that isn't "rocker hair" or too femme, with the upper portion pulled back off the face. (I have seen many women's styles that would work perfectly if they didn't have that big sweep of girly bangs in the front.)

More wavy/curly hair in general, that doesn't have an ARC of 800+.

Oh yeah, and shoes that are not so high it hurts to look at them but are still sexy.

heh thanks

Oh as for the matching prim color to clothing color, a lot of that is to do with the lighting settings

matching prim to system is not exact, lighting will change it very often so sometimes it might take adding a bit of grey or something to the prim...

it is so hard to please everyone

every so often we see a thread that pertains to the "what layers should I include"

and it is always a mixed response
some love having ALL layers, others dislike it
some say, too many layers, too much junk to wade through and toss what I do not use, others say without the additional layers they usually pass it up

well.... why not buy it if you like it (impulse shopping) and then contact the creator for the extra layers you might want, what is the worst that happens, they say no, you are stuck with something you wanted anyway?

yes I tend to be very accommodating, because I treat my customers the way I would want to be treated. THEY are the most important part of my business, and I do not plan to ever forget that!!

I just recently figured out (recently as in within the last year) how to do the long tshirts and such using the underwear layer for the tucked in look, and I must say I totally love the results!

I do plan to make more like that, eventually LOL
(right now I am sorta on a splurge of jewelry making, and totally loving it)
no new stuff since my boots, so I will prolly end up having a secret sale next week

sorry rambling again...

logs back in to attack the jewelry

Marvellous use of a semi-colon - I'd be impressed, except that you missed off the full stop in the sentence above.

I'd like transferrable demos. I often buy lots of demo skins or hair before making my choice and it would be nice to be able to pass on the ones that don't suit me. It would also bring in more customers for the creators of these items.

Ok been said already but these are my wishes:

The prim skirt of the dress to fit properly. Get it fitting right looking from the front but then the back is messed up or the sides or whatever lol. One of the main reasons I don't wear many dresses or skirts. They look great in the pictures but not on me.

More clothing that doesn't show your belly or your butt. Modest guess that is the word, but still nice.

More content creators like Rha she is one of the best. Needed some pants in a different color then she had and she went out of her way to make some for me. Love them and wear them quite often.

And Skell I have that same problem what do you want for Christmas..... I have learned to tell them a gift card to say Walmart or Michaels or such :) that way I get a few cards and then I can think of what I want. Gotta love gift cards!

Bec

oh oh oh and would love more transfer items so I can give the person the gift myself. Sometimes the creator will more then not they won't.

What sentence? Sentences have verbs in them, usually, although "What sentence?" has an implied ending - are you referring to - although I would try to avoid ending a sentence with a preposition, even though it is not a hard and fast grammatical rule. I could also have typed "A Ferrari" and it would not have required a full stop either. A list of one thing does not really require a full stop, don't you think?

Certainly the proper business ethic to have. I wish all content creators were as accomodating. Unfortunatly I have had more negative responses than positive to such requests, but usually from the less "hungry" creators. :)

I want to see more clothing creators offer the option of Copy or Transfer. I have seen this popping up in more and more stores and I love it. Sometimes, if I foresee having to mod an outfit piece a lot, I might chose the Copy option, but I am one of the few in SL that would most often chose Transfer so that I can later give away or yard-sale it.

Additionally, (and I have said this many times) if you give me an outfit box with one shirt and multiple skirts, whether different colors or different styles/lengths, then please either make that shirt copyable or give me a copy for each skirt. Some of us actually create separate folders for each outfit -- I want to be able to right click the folder and simply say 'add to outfit'.

That's OK Pep, spanking in SL is rubbish anyway, it doesn't even hurt!

Back on topic ... hats ... I'd like a wider range of hats without hair attached to them, that don't make my hair disappear and that do fit over my hair without it showing through.

Hats!

Yes, here is an idea. What if a popular hair maker got together with a hat maker and started adding a hat version of their hair? Especially if said hat had a colour change menu.
(I've seen many a hat-hair combo where one or the other just doesn't look good)

I'm sure there are various business dealings that would have to be worked out but that way the hat designer doesn't have to learn how to make good hair and we don't end up with our favourite hair styles sticking through the brim of a hat.

Oh yeah, and mittens. I want wooly mittens.

can we also post wishes that we would like to see LL implement? hehe

one of the biggest wishes I have had since joining, is the ability to mod items that are attached to someone else (with their permission of course)

I have had so many ppl ask me if I could adjust a prim for them, while it is on them, and sadly I can not

I would so have a custom fitting business if this were possible

as it is, if someone has a transfer shape and transfer prim items they want fitted, I can do it that way (send me the items, I fit, then send back) or if it is something I made and they have a transfer shape, I will custom fit for them)

I would so love to see the ability to adjust prims on another avatar though...

Better texture packs
11-23-2008 11:10
I would like to see more "builder" texture packs that include everything one needs to build a complete room, house, fence, etc.

A $L200 texture pack that includes 8 colors of a single plank texture is not useful to me. A texture pack all in the same color that includes a plank texture, a couple of matching textures with missing planks, a couple of textures with shadows or vines on it, a gate, a post and post-end --- charge me $L2000 and I'll still dance away happy!

If you put a "sexy walk" in your women's cowboy boots, make 'em mod. Most of us already have our preferred walk in an AO. Plus, I can't ride my horse with your boots on (I tried the usual /ao off command, to no avail).

Yay on you, Rha! I'll add another vote to multiple layers for clothes, especially tops. I've got some nice tops I'd love to wear under my overalls, but the overall top is the shirt layer, which means I have to go find underwear layer tops to go with it (to stay modest, no less).

Some of us like to cover our butts (literally and figuratively) when we go swimming. How about some modest one-piece suits, or at least bikini bottoms that cover a little more skin? (With that said, I did find a nice swimwear set at Reaction that has a set of boardie shorts with it).

Just like Malia has said, I wish for prim skirts, belts, and such to NOT be created to fit a perfect circle. OMG so frustrating! I'm easily a third wider at the hips than I am front to back, which is also my natural shape in RL. Round prim skirts (and especially belts made from a single hollowed cylinder piece) absolutely do not fit... ever. At least 50% of the pieces need to be manually adjusted by me, IF (IF..) I'm lucky enough to even find prim skirts or belts that are mod. Resize scripts under these conditions are completely useless. I do find it kind of annoying that people like me are left without any option except to keep looking when your shape falls outside the trendy, round inflat-o-ass look, and creators keep refusing to make these things mod. It's been 2+ years and I've not yet found a proper shaped or modifiable belly chain that was high enough quality to consider buying. I've seen them, they're out there.. wrapped around some Barbie who's waist is like a round tree trunk. :(

Absolutely agree with the ability to mod prims on another person, that would ROCK . Maybe a tick box to give permission on the friends list, like we have now for objects etc..

The ability to have a history of where youve been for the time youre in world. (can I do that already?)

Yes yes yes Id love to wear a necklace with a collar too!

Im sure there is a very valid reason for not making skins transfer and hair also (?) but Id really like the option of selling/giving away my stuff when I tire of it.Im getting a bit more picky where I shop these days..and unless its a mega sale, where I can understand maybe they dont want people mass buying it to sell themselves at low low prices later , I vote with my wallet and buy mostly from stores that offer transfer rights. (havent found a hair place yet that does though)

The BIG one...from Linden labs..an increase in prims for estates, hell for everyone!!!

I have been thinking along the same lines, we need more one piece swim suits, for the more modest or heck just because they are pretty

unfortuantely I am such a dweeb, that I start a lot of stuff and never finish it heh

as for the sexy walk and stuff, I have that is some of my shoes that I sell, however the system I use lets you turn it off by clicking the shoe (or the optional hud) so you do not have to have the heel click or walk if you do not want them.

I love the system I use, nice walk, nice sounds and can be turned off without having to mod the item (some of my shoes are mod some are not, depends on what I was doing at the time LOL)
some have the resize script in them as well as color change, and shine level

I totally believe in options LOL

ty all for the nice compliments, (I was not fishing for any) but it is nice to see them (shows that my attitude towards the customer is appreciated)
