Heck, I have my main account as a vampire and my alt is sat in Gor, according to popular opinion of SL I must be constantly cybering

Honestly, that explains a lot about my inworld experiences. I guess nobody has ever said it that up front and frankly to me. I'm more than happy to be in such a gray area though. I find I can identify with all kinds of different groups with very-very few problems. I still truly assert myself as a loli avatar most of all. While the Linden G-Team doesn't share this opinion, loli avatars are commonly NOT considered children. (^_^)

I do often describe myself as ageless when asked while I'm in RP... Usually identifying myself as a demon goddess that was never born and always was. (^_^)

Maybe, that's the back-story potential for a kid-vamp. They could be an un-aging fragment of their former self from centuries in the past. Just like Claudia from Interview With A Vampire. (^_^)y

While we're on the subject, I should point out that vampires make decent sacrifices, although the ritual is a bit more difficult. Luring them is fairly easy in theory - you just get them drunk. Takes an AWFUL lot of blood though, so in practice it's a bit of work. There's always the chance they could catch on before you get them where you want them, and then you got a serious problem. And even if you succeed, you also chance the ire of certain Outer God. But it's only a chance; what's life without a few risks? BORING, that's what!

Thank you all so much for what has proven to be a great discussion so far. There is a lot of good answers here to mull over.

To Sylvester: Yes many of us female vamps like to be sexy and mix our natural womanly need to feel appreciated with our vampire character but here is the key point...when it suits us to want to. There are also many times I play a violent, cold ruthless vampire that is more monster than humanlike and that is definitely not sexy.
If I were to play a child vampire, there would be no sexiness there, it would be for the times I want to be strange, dark and yet engage in fairly innocent pursuits.

I must admit this thread has me more wanting to try it out than I started with, rather than think the whole thing is a bad idea.

It is encouraging to know there are others out there...

Ava, that is a great av, exactly what I was thinking of. Sure it would be nice to go play sometime, though my timezone and schedule often make me miss most people sadly

Dakota, I actually had you in mind as well after our conversation at the last party. I always consider you to be quite dark and when I found out where who your parent were I was highly delighted.

I would say if someone wants to play a kid vamp, then the skin should not look like it is all made up, sure some darkened eyes and such...

now ya got me wanting to try to make a kid vamp skin just to see if I can ROFL

I think considering that Ava said she rounded up freebies that it is a great attempt. It is not always possible to get a freebie child skin that is great quality.

Why would you expect a gothic dark child not to have make up on? Real "normal" children do want to play with make up, gothic children may have not parental oversight as "normal" kids and really as they are probably dead is not going to harm them.
Some cultures also do put make up on their children, even western ones do under some circumstances.

All preconceptions of what is normal go out of the windows once you start down the road of roleplaying a dead and/or dark person. That goes even more for children I think, as they are effectively outside of "normal" society and so those rules and norms most of us grew with do not apply.

what is the lure, the draw, that makes you think about what it would be like to play a child vamp? or what led you to asking the questions you did?

how would playing a child vamp, be any different than playing an adult sans sexual undertones?

Those are cool avatars and outfits makes me want to see if I could make some dark demon children myself....I prefer to try to do things for males though.
Maybe I can get out of this rut I am in make something new.
I did some dolls bit back they are extremely tiny like 0.60m tall that was lot of fun.
Maybe I will try to make some tiny devil dolls or something with nooses around dolls necks for kids to play with and carry.

To me the question is like why do you think it is different to play a human adult rather than a human child. The answer is because they are completely different things. I have often wanted to let out my inner child but I feel it would be darker than most SL children, closer to Dakota and Imnotgoing. I would like to engage in simple, care free activities, the innocent things that adults overlook or forget how much fun can be had.
You are right in that you can do these things as an adult av also and in fact I do find often myself getting pleasure doing childishly simple things like playing on that free bouncy castle that Lil (I think) found on SLX. However I have often thought it would be nice to go back and be a child again which is different from an adult doing child-like things. It is trying to regress a little all the baggage we have accumulated as an adult, an escape from it. It would also be a challenge to see if I could leave the trappings of adulthood behind and go back to a more innocent place. It tempts me because there has not really been any previous opportunities to really immerse until SL.
I have noticed people treat you differently and expect less from you ask a SL kid too, and you don't get hit on like you do as an adult or get the same kinds of suggestiveness from people. A break from that from time to time would also be welcome.

So my reasons are like why anyone might want to play an SL child, however as I tend towards the darker side of things, mainly because the imagery and trappings are attractive to me, then my SL kid would be like a child version of what I am as an adult Gabriele, a child vampire. Almost like being my own daugther perhaps.
This is what lead to me to ask these questions, not necessarily going to do it but there is certainly a lure there.

I also think if I did do it then there would be a zero sexiness, very little violence involved in actual fact and more like the dark kid with the fangs and shades in the pretty silk and lace dresses.

I liked Mari's recounting of the child and his father at the school. I smiled a lot at that.

The Worst Witch was another dark child, which I personally believe was the inspiration for Harry Potter.

I hope that answers in a way that makes sense, they are mostly a rough jumble of thoughts and impressions about it all and so don't necessarily make sense to anyone but myself.

I personally relate to just want to be innocent child but not sure if I can go back now in kid mode.
It wasn't something I experienced ever so it was fun for period time
Most of my earlier SL I was kid but I made a close friend and she was creeped out by me being kid.
So out of respect I quit doing it.
I was trash talking cigar smoking parentless toddler.
I did stumble places that kids shouldn't been before the rule changes.
I wanted not to avatar as child because of anything immoral but more of it as
being innocent child wandering around in strange world.
Most of my avatars have always been non-sexual for many years.
I had this fantasy movie in my head of kid wandering around alone in strange, overly sexual world but not really connected to it nor really understood it.
He make jokes about naughty things like a piggy back rides and all seemed not gear to naughtier things but he really didn't get it.
It was very much a innocent thing.
In some ways I was making fun of how sex focused most world seems in fact but I have
grown up now see it in another way.
Even though I was innocent adults around me weren't and often things were said and it became uncomfortable.
First question I got about is do people try to have sex with me because I am kid av.
I said no.
I even had guy show up on my land with no pants if this had happen now even though I didn't know the guy they could said I was breaking the TOS.
Personally I don't have problem with people being kid avatars but the way things are this isn't something I would do any more.
Problem with anything around kid avatars you don't know if someone is going to cause trouble for you or not.
Maybe the other kids don't have this same concern but I do.

I've never been made to feel as though I had a reason to feel any concern. I've been described as dark, morbid and cute... But never directly as creepy. And I'm one to persistently push and teeter on the limit of the TOS. (^_^)
