how do you see people in SL?

discussing retardation and referring to someone who is mentally challenged as retarded is much different than calling someone who is being a goof a retard - even in jest.

that you don't see how hurtful that can be is sad since you have someone in your life that you should be protecting from that sort of painful remark.

this is a passionate subject for me, and in no way will i sway in my viewpoint of taking an innocent and harmless person's disadvantage and weakness - and wielding it as a weapon. it's not their fault, and they have no choice, and most important to recognize, they generally cannot defend themselves.

i'm sort of done talking about this. i will become fired up and then the curt and frank side of me will spew forth and things will turn into molten lava from the firey ending.

I tend to keep myself to myself and leave her to her own affairs.

To say she is boring is hardly disparaging - it is simply a statement of fact that we have different interests. I use boring as a verb, not an adjective - she bores me, boring me is what she is doing.

I think it's entirely appropriate to base my opinions about others on what they say and do. If people don't want to be judged on their actions and words, then they need to take more responsibility for their actions and words.

As for their looks, I'm known for judging people on their looks in a special set of circumstances, and I've been told numerous times that I have perfectly nailed someone's personality based on photos they sent me. I'll be honest, though - I cheat. First, I ask them to send me pictures that they have chosen and want to represent them, so I get pictures that are representative of their personality. Second, I base my decision not just on the pictures, but also on their profile, what I have seen them type in the forums or inworld, the groups they belong to, whether they are partnered and to whom, whether they own a business and what kind, and any other clue I can dig up. I strike out on occasion, but I've found that they way someone presents themselves in SL is a pretty good indicator of who they are.

I try not to do and say things that I wouldn't want people to judge me on. Whether you think it's the right thing to do or not, you have to admit that others are going to judge you - you might as well honestly represent who you are as a person, because they are going to suss it out eventually.

Either way it makes no odds. I don't require that she entertain me. I have you guys for that. It is still not disparaging to her.

Yes, and my intention was not to be a disciplinarian, but to speak up, and say hey, wait a minute... maybe you don't realize how hurtful your comments can be. If I came off sounding holier than thou, I apologize.

And for that reason, I'm not going to engage in a debate with Conan about whether his remarks are misogynistic or not. I find some of the things he says that are dismissive of women painful. End of speech.
