Please link to the documented cases of sexual ageplay on the grid since the policy was enacted. I'm sure if it were common, those vigilantes would be blogging about it until their lungs turned blue.

And, I wonder, would they consider it more or less prudent for the adults behind such avatars to satisfied themselves that anyone they encounter is also an adult, by confining themselves to Adult Verified areas? Off the top of my head, I rather suspect that, legally, at least, among the safest places for child avatars to hang out would be PG areas on Zindra.

So we would then have lots of teenagers forced by Linden Lab to masquerade as adults. Hmm. Quite how this would safeguard anyone I do not know, and I think that whoever advises Linden Labs on corporate liability might have a thing or two say about that bright idea (as, indeed, might the Connecticut FBI).

Milla are you visiting Kara in Denial? I mentioned the Gavin Hird thread - and within that thread some have mentioned their encounters with virtual pedophilia in SL. Have you noticed in the police blotter there is a zero instance of reported pedophilia? That is an impossible number. Obviously LL has a unwritten policy not to publish that bit of dirty laundry - and really, who could blame them.

So do we ban short pants and lollipops? Mandate a minimum height for all AV's? What about Briana? She is a short elf. Could she not be mistaken for a child? We have short pixies, what if someone pulled the wings off of them, would they be children?

Nooo. The child avatar issue is one of common decency and perceptions - and that is all it is. COMmon decency dictates that children should not be around adult content - laws say they should not participate in adult activities. Linden Lab based their ToS rule on what is considered broadly offensive (common decency). You all want to push back on that any time you can and claim that child avatars in adult areas is not broadly offensive even if they are not engaging in sex. And I say it is broadly offensive. So I guess it will come down to a grid wide show of hands. Or another nasty internet scandal(which, with the cavalier attitude of many child avatar people - should happen next week).
Agreed. Since the age to join SL is 13 - then we should not see anyone in pig tails holding a dollie and talking like a half illiterate 3 foot tall child.

14 pages, and there is one mention of a child avatar, and the person violating the ageplay TOS rule is the one behind the adult avatar.

The thread is still about underage users, not child avatars.

Milla, right above your post it reads KID AVATAR APPROACHED BY MALE AVATAR. the avatar was human child avatar. There is no mention of the male avatar being adult or child. Don't you see the words? Take off those glasses!
