From: Phil Deakins If you had any sense in you, why do you need to be stupid? As you know, I don't cheat, and I don't do anything to make my store appear to be more popular than it is. If you have camping bots, you are cheating by making your store appear to be more popular than it is, since bots can't actually, you know, BUY anything. However, don't let logic get in the way of a good whitewashing. From: someone That's alright, Tal. I make thousands of US$ every month from sinsible people, without fail, so I don't need your little bit. I'll be sure to quote you and spread your sentiment around; clearly, you don't need anyone's "little bit". From: someone No problem at all in you keeping your few lindens. I am content to compete fairly and very successfully Yep, you and GinkoGuy both.

If you do, I trust you will quote it correctly, and not in your twisted way. Tell them that I said I don't need your (Talarus') little bit. ok? You have my permission to add that I also don;t need the little bits from those people who go away when they see bots being used. Don't lie about it with intentionally false recollections such as "anyone's little bit". Ok? There's a good boy.

So far, you're 0 for.. oh hell, is there a number that big? From: someone If you do, I trust you will quote it correctly, and not in your twisted way. There's DEFINITELY no need to embellish or twist anything at all. Clearly, you're just so awesome that you really don't need ANYONE's "little bit", regardless.

From: Phil Deakins Wrong. Much of what comes up now is largely relevant places and due to the organising of traffic. If there is no organising of traffic (camping or traffic bots) places like clubs with small shops attached will magically float to the top. Right now, the listings are influenced by places that actually deal in what's being searched for. Without that influence, we would see the "real popular" (as you put it) places floating to the top, but many of them will be popular for completely different things than what is being searched for.
Incidentally, camping and traffic bots don't make crap places. If you can go to my store and honestly say that what I sell is crap, ok, but nobody can do that because it is among the best in its field - many people tell me that - it's their opinions. Sorry I disagree All the top places in search are crap. Especially the ones using bots.

Phil, I'm one of those people who would never spend 1L in your store. Maybe you will understand how I feel about bots if I use simple words.
Bots are spam. Bots are dishonest. Bots are unethical.
Muted....

Would you like to put your proof where you mouth is, Jenn? I'm logged in right now. Perhaps you would be kind enough to show me. I can only go by what people tell me and I do take their words for it waaaay above the word of someone who has an axe to grind .

So I drop by Phils store to see what the big deal is. I expect to find Botopolis.
He has like four bots in there dry humping each other on sex beds. (Edit, two more on a couch, six bots).
I'm finding it difficult to get worked up over this.
Am I missing something?
Oh yeah, Phil, the SURL in your sig landed me under your store.

Supposedly, he has/had more in a box at 4000m, or so he said.

Am I missing something? Yes They are bot models. The traffic bots are above 4000m. They are the ones that a few people don't like.

From: Phil Deakins On this we do agree But those bots must, by definition, be in agreement with me. They are part of the population too I was looking at your store. One thing is sure: If the quality of your products cannot bring you new customers to buy your products the amount of traffic bots can't and won't help it because most of the people in SecondLife aren't really new in virtual worlds. Placing traffic bots is the very best way to show that you aren't successful with your work and crying for attention. I feel sorry for those who do need it ! --

Phil, do you have permission to sell artwork by Julie Bell, Boris Vallejo and other artists?

I feel sorry for those who do need it ! The quality of my products is such that I don't need traffic bots at all. I rank highly in the All search and that, together with word of mouth, which I get a lot of, sells plenty of stuff for me. But I prefer covering more bases and the Places tab rankings increases my sales quite a bit. Without them, sales are down by 20-25%. I'm afraid that your highlighted sentence is just wishul thinking or imagination.

Nothing against Phil, its purely the usage of traffic bots to pump up sales. And yes I know everyone does it just to keep up with the rest.

Thank you for an honest answer. You've taken scanned images and slapped them on square prims, and used bots to make this "product" more visible than things that are actually useful. You game the system to get attention at the expense of people who put actual effort into creating things. You are the poster child for why traffic must die. Anything you've said and will say about bots is moot.
