From: Phil Deakins You asked for it, as has been pointed out to you. The actual wish was way over the top but you *did* ask for a red mist retaliation (apparently you drove somebody away with your stupidities, and the friend retaliated). I have no sympathy with you whatsoever.
Btw, do stop sulking about it. I wonder how Scylla would react if I suggested that a woman had justifiably been raped because she "asked for it", as you have stated. A "red mist retaliation" makes someone no better than an animal as far as I am concerned. And as for driving someone off, that is speculation; do you convict on unsubstantiated hearsay evidence? That was an excuse drummed up after the fact by a hysterical "female" whose vanity was perturbed by valid minor criticisms of images that she had displayed to attract comment. Pep (I couldn't care less about your sympathy; your opinion forming in these matters has been so flawed that I would prefer not to be touched by it in any way.) PS Sulking involves hiding away and refusing to communicate; there is no chance of that.

From: Brenda Connolly My favorite griefing story is still the scamps who inundated a Gorean sim with pictures of Abraham Lincoln saying "Free the slaves". LOL!!!! Oh, do you think I can borrow that???

From: Pserendipity Daniels I wonder how Scylla would react if I suggested that a woman had justifiably been raped because she "asked for it", as you have stated. I stated no such thing. I stated that *you* asked for it. It's past your bedtime. From: Pserendipity Daniels A "red mist retaliation" makes someone no better than an animal as far as I am concerned. I'm not aware of anyone here who gives a damn what you think of things. I certainly don't. It's almost 11 p.m. - you should have been fast asleep a couple of hours ago. From: Pserendipity Daniels And as for driving someone off, that is speculation; do you convict on unsubstantiated hearsay evidence? That was an excuse drummed up after the fact by a hysterical "female" whose vanity was perturbed by valid criticism of images that she had displayed to attract comment. I simply go by what multiple people said in that thread. They all seemed to be in agreement, and that'll do for me. From: Pserendipity Daniels PS Sulking involves hiding away and refusing to comunicate; there is no chance of that. You're sulking when you keep posting what someone said to you, because it hurt you ("Look at what {name} said to me " . Stop sulking and grow up.

From: Pserendipity Daniels I wonder how Scylla would react if I suggested that a woman had justifiably been raped because she "asked for it", as you have stated. Well, I think you know how I would react. I think you also know that I was appalled about what was said about you. Why am I being dragged into this? From: Pserendipity Daniels That was an excuse drummed up after the fact by a hysterical "female" whose vanity was perturbed by valid minor criticisms of images that she had displayed to attract comment. Pep, I'll ask again. What does gender have to do with this? Can you really DEMONSTRATE that this conflict has been brought about by women, qua women? Or is this just a lazy way of lumping a collection of people you dislike into an easily targeted group, like "blacks," or "muslims," or "homosexuals"? Are you trying to alienate every woman in this forum with these absurd and insupportable slanders directed against the entire sex? And why the quotation marks? If you are implying that these "women" aren't really women in RL, doesn't that rather undercut your thesis about the over-emotionalism of the sex? Gender is a red herring here. This is just discriminatory and sexist; I frankly expect better of someone whom I know is capable of more rational thought than this exhibits.

From: Nicoletta Lefevre I was run over by a large taxicab, then banned them. Then they returned under new names and did some kind of thing where they put out cakes and smashed their butts into the cakes. It was really weird. They got kicked out.
Then another time I was at an SLX machine and somebody attached a penis to me.
I was really new to SL and it took me forever to get rid of it.
The smashing cakes thing is apparently some kind of fetish. I thought I'd heard of every fetish, but guess not! Wow . . . Um, I think you may win the thread. The cake thing alone . . . !

That's kind of a dumb question. Of course he is. Don't take it personally, he's no respecter of subgroups.

From: Milla Janick I have been the subject of annoyances in various roleplay sims. The perpetrators are usually induhviduals who are incapable of reading and/or comprehending the rules, and end up getting ejected and banned sooner or later. I wouldn't say they rose to the level of griefing. I doubt these are the kinds of places SLLUFN members/readers frequent anyway. Well, probably not, although the Survival Kit is available through a number of venues not directly associated with the SLLUFN as well. It's not directed at "feminists" per se; in fact, I frequently recommend it to male newbies. I'm not sure whether ignoring the rules of an RP constitutes a form of griefing or not? I guess it would depend on the specifics of the person's behaviour. For example, in a BDSM scenario, I think I would classify someone who ignored a safe word or clear signal from a partner as a case of griefing.

From: Scylla Rhiadra Uhhhhhh . . . Hang on. Give a bit of time to search through your past postings. I'm sure I can find SOMETHING in here . . . (Jig, you actually are pretty level headed: not much here seems to faze you, which I take to be a good thing!) I know, I know. But there has been much argument here while I've been in a longlylonglyboringly meeting. Which only got better when we went to an art gallery. In real. PEOPLE STOP ARGUING WITH EACH OTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dunno what's happened today around teh planet but there is much disfraction and dazzlement here today. Pep is being Pep. Desmond is being Desmond. Prolly Scylla is being her normal self. Phil is being Phil. STOP IT!!!!! I hate arguing like this. It's not fun and slappychundering. This sounds angry. STOP IT. Please.

From: Pserendipity Daniels PPS You have said that you are back at college, Scylla. What's the subject of your studies, and do you have to write a thesis of some sort for the course? A PhD in English lit, Pep. Yes, there will be a thesis . . . possibly on Milton. It has nothing to do with this thread, if that is what you are implying?

From: Riseon Kosten My 'griefing' experience is probably much closer to stalking and harrassment, as it all involves the same person(ableit different avvies). The most nefarious was using an illegal 3rd party viewer to make a copy of my avatar, with a similar name; joining my groups and showing up at venues I am known to frequent insulting everyone, and other childish actions. It had the desired result, I'm afraid. Many venue owners started asking me why I would do such a thing. I hid my groups and moved to new parts of SL so that person cannot find me after fighting with LL for months to get her to stop. Oh well, the grid is very big. ^_^ Oh, Ris . . . that's horrible! I'm so sorry! Yes, I'd definitely classify this as stalking and harassment, rather than your common-or-garden griefing. I'm glad that you were able to get away!

From: Deira Llanfair I've been:-
caged - I worked out how to get myself out orbited - IMd the individual and told them I would AR if they did it again pestered by a follow-box when I was testing on the beta grid - ARd swamped by megaprims - ARd smoke bombed - freeze, eject, and ban shot at - friended the attacker and he gave me a copy of his gun IM spam - got LL to help me IP theft - filed DMCA Alt deception - tricked him into sitting on a ballet pose ball and took snapshot. This is actually a pretty useful list, Deira . . . thanks! But I really really need to know more about the last one . . .

The best I could come up with was a scenario in which Deira dissuaded a harasser from continuing the harassment by threatening to show that snapshot around. (Which is an unkind speculation to make about Deira, and probably far from the truth.)

Are you trying to alienate every woman in this forum ...........
He's already done that, Scylla....many times over, and in a number of different ways. Any woman with a head on her shoulders, that is. Falls right into place here, in the griefing thread.....if you count hurting people as griefing. I guarantee you that any woman that you hand those safety kits to, will most likely not run into anything more threatening.

Someone was bouncing everyone in a certain sandbox, so that the place was turned into a trampoline. Solution: Rez a chair and sit in it.
Another time I was making a house, and someone came in and sat down (after buzzing me like a dive bombing bird, then they refused to leave or reply.) Solution: Put the roof on, remove the door opening, and leave.
