But I have to say, and don't want to offend anyone, but seriously the saddest little boy in America has to be George Walker Bush. Did you see him sitting there? He MUST have been thinking, "I been elected twice, and nobody did any of this for me." He pretty much had the part of the of the bastard at the family reunion.

i saw some coverage briefly this morning, and when i saw Bush i sort of felt he had to be thinking "thank God this is almost over and i can get back to my life" and didn't seem like he cared at all about the fanfare.

The 'revocation' text is often wrongly attributed to John Cleese. For anyone interested, Snopes has the full history of it, including its many rewrites and additions:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/satire/revocation.asp
That is an interesting read. I knew a little of it, but had not ever read about the entire history of that piece and the responses.

Yes, I have to think anyone (loved or hated) has to feel a sense of relief when they leave that job.

A few times in the past I've seen a magazine article where they compare "before and after" pictures of past US presidents. It always appear that they age 10 years or more for every 4 years in office.

I'm so excited!!!!

But I almost fainted with Chief Justice Roberts flubbed the oath of office  -- and President Obama remained so calm...helping C.J. Roberts to recover. :D
I did not see it, but from our local radio they indicated that Obama actually jumped in with his part a bit too quickly and that is likely what threw the Chief Justice off, and then Obama helped get him back on track.

I was snuck into SL a little while ago- and chatting with an Aussie friend who wondered at my presence at this hour- I sd about the inauguration and he sd, "Oh yes, your coronation.." :D
With this hoopla being larger than any in history, I have heard a few say that it seemed more like a coronation.

I missed the actual oath n stuff...was in the process of growing bacteria, but I did hear the last 10 minutes of his inaugeration speech.....
I don't know much about politics or economics or anything...don't really have much of an opinion on it all, but I have to say...he is a fantastic public speaker!
He is a super speaker and very intelligent - that is one change that I already know I am going to enjoy. Even if I end up disagreeing with him on things, at least he has brains and can express himself.

variety lol...only tested one today, the rest for next week's lesson. Today's was G+ve...and I gotta do a write up :(
Looked fabulous under the microscope though lol. Very pretty. Staphylococcus epidermidis

(yes, I checked the spelling :p)
From: Skell Dagger
Psst! Lowercase 'e'. Genus is capitalised, specific name is lowercase. Thus Staphylococcus epidermidis*. Don't get that wrong in your write-up. And don't sweat that write-up. Profs always like to hear why G+ve take up a crystal violet stain and why G-ve take up the counterstain. You can easily stretch that out to a few hundred words ;) Peptidoglycan FTW!

(*And the pedant in me is annoyed that the forum won't let me italicise or even underline the name...)
My eyes just glazed over as they do when my daughter starts talking about her classes and labs and homework -- she is majoring in bio-chemical engineering and I am usually lost when she talks.

i'd say the big change took place about 1 year after 9/11 attacks. he aged like crazy right after that!

Had a little adventure relating to the Inauguration that sounds very small in the telling, but it took part of Friday, Saturday, and all of this morning...

The TV at work had a problem... the analog/digital conversion had left it behind, so I installed the digital cable box, but the TV still didn't work. After many calls and trying different things, including a different TV, I asked for a service call, and told the others that they'd have to find an alternative for watching the inauguration.

Someone said, "We could watch it on our laptops."
A second said, "But we should watch it on just a few laptops so we have more bandwidth."
A third said, "Can't you take one laptop and project on the screen up there?"

And duh! Why didn't I think of any of that? I'm supposed to be the IT girl, after all.

So, just in the nick of time I got it all together, added speakers and away we went.

There were no hiccoughs or interruptions in the feed, which was amazing. It was like watching big-screen TV.

But I have to say, and don't want to offend anyone, but seriously the saddest little boy in America has to be George Walker Bush. Did you see him sitting there? Great save, regardless of how it came to pass. :)

I was just thinking about Mr. Bush, and how tomorrow morning will be the first morning in 8 years he'll be able to sleep in without anyone pestering him. :)

*chuckles*

Yep, President Obama and C.J. Roberts were not on the same wavelength at all, but it all turned out well in the end. :)

Agreed. Regardless of how one feels about his politics, it was a remarkable speech, and what a delivery! :)

No gold star for YOU, Cees.

May I suggest to other threadies that the best way to handle this trolling is to completely ignore it.
