Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

So let me get this straight... Porky posted a pic of some guy puking in reaction to the overload of cute & fuzzy kitty pics, in a thread that..by the rules, doesn't belong in RA at all anyway, and he got repremanded for it?
I would have L'edMAO at seeing that reply.. sorry I missed it.

I mean I love cats and all too, but come on.. people need to ask theirselves, is that kind of reaction to his pic an honest reaction to its gross factor, or is it really a reaction to the emotional interruption it caused during peoples' feeding of their cute & fuzzy obsession?

Speaking as a senior gaming forum admin and moderator for many years, I firmly believe that anyone in the MOD role needs to have edit post ability. It avoids problems like having to resort to less-than-desirable means to do your job. A simple edit and a tactful comment would be the preferred response to a pic which, although probably disgusting, doesn't break the rules or the PG nature of the forum. The key to being an effective moderator who is liked and respected isn't just the ability to lay down the law when needed, but also being even-handed, tactful, and consistant across all things. Without the proper abilities, I think Millie did the right thing by halting the progression of the thread until someone who had those abilities could perform cleanup on it... then released it so it could go on its merry way. My only critique would be that the thread itself is completely OT, and calling someone out by name publicly should only ever be used on someone who's a consistant, blatant, intentional troublemaker.

I disagree. Nothing was achieved by locking it as the gross picture was in the past - the thread had been continuing quite happily since then. And, of course, the picture still remained. Also, Millie didn't lock it "until someone who had those abilities could perform cleanup on it". She stated that the thread is killed. Her full post is repeated in the title of this thread. I.e. it wasn't an interim measure.

I should point out that Millie isn't the one we should be pointing our finger at. I have stated previously that I am ecstatic that Kat is gone but all of this started before even Kat was hired. Strife pleaded with LL for more Resmods to be added and at one point LL was even accepting names again. They have applications for several, well qualified people. Finally Strife got tired of it or more exactly just got tired and gave 2-3 months warning to LL that he was leaving. LL still refused to do anything about the situation and appoint some new resmods.

Now all we have is those names at the bottom that are several years old. None of the Lindens listed do any resmod work, and everyone else listed is either gone or in the case of Adam, waaay too busy to have time to resmod. Millie is all that we have left and Millie had not moderated for a couple of years before this was all unceremoniously dumped in her lap. Considering the fact that Millie had not even been participating in the forums for quite a while and has a real life and concerns and is not compensated for this extra duty, then I would imagine that she is probably much more unhappy about the turn of events then anyone here could be with any calls she makes.
