If I might just bring it up again:

Maybe it would go down better on SLProfiles blog as it seems people can and do put anything and everything on there!

Not a lack of good sense. Just tired of the double standards in this forum by the Mods. Tired of the hundreds of cat images that have been posted in the last few months. Either poeple abide by the rules or they dont. Either the mods enforce the rules or they dont. I broke the rules by posting an indecent picture. Yet the rules had already been broken by 3ring by starting the pointless thread, and all the kitty lovers that decided we needed to see yet more (non SL related) cat pics. Everyone who posted in that thread is no better than me.
Everyone broke the rules but there are degrees -- your post was completely disgusting and not appropriate at all.

Just like there are degrees of law breakers in RL -- do you consider someone who ignores speed limits and speeds to be the same as a murderer?

Maybe it was my reference to a certain fast food outlet that caused the trouble!
I might have agreed with that had it not been for Millie's post :) I quoted it in full in the title of this thread.

But, and please don't take this personally, are they no worse?

We all know that Resident Answers is sort of like American democracy - a long-running experiment. There is a lot of leniency and free reign given in this forum, much moreso than the rest.

Yes, rulz iz rulz and we should all be held to the same standard for the same infractions. You have a valid point and I happen to agree with it.

What causes me to shake my head is that, in breaking more rules than others to call attention to non-enforcement, if the rules are now enforced, you may find yourself at the crappy end of the stick for it, being now guilty of not only posting off-topic pics but offensive ones at that. If the mods decide to begin enforcement with this incident, you would, and should, get the stronger measure taken against you - with little to say about it, since you used the offense to call for enforcement.

Personally, I would have just started a bird thread. Doesn't everyone like birds?

Kids! Kids!! Kids!!!

Yes, Porky's pic was in poor taste, but aren't we adults here? Can't we just roll our eyes and move on? There are so many truly disgusting things we're exposed to in this world every day that we shouldn't be thrown off balance by his school yard immaturity.

I don't want this forum to be come controlled and sanitized to the point of blandness. SL sure isn't. Anybody who doesn't want to deal with Porko can put him on their ignore list or simply not click on his links.

That said, if I ever got my hands on the Pork Rinds, I give him such a spanking. Where's that hair brush?

This thread isn't about Porky's picture. It's about the thread that contained it being locked. It's about the moderator who did that.

Again... the control thing.

Threads meander, take lives of their own.

That's what makes them so interesting.

Very strange, as I can still see the picture and the thread isn't locked. I don't even see a post from the forum moderator. Even did a refresh, yep all still there.......Weird.

The original post is no longer there. But someone had quoted it in a response..hence the picture still being there.

re this thread: Isn't is a TOS violation to criticize actions taken (not taken) by a forum moderator?

Oh...and isn't a TOS violation to call out a particular user?

I don't personally like birds myself.. I can admire their beauty and whatnot, but.. Not a fan.. However, I would NEVER post such a gross photo as was in the cats thread.

I certianly didn't know it was against the rules to post photos of kitties, or somethign to uplift someones spirits, or otherwise make them smile.

This forum would be rather dull if used for only.. how do I, where can I get a and the like...

But, I know now, and will reread the rules again and refrain from posting anything that might lighten someones mood or make them smile.

what was the logic behind the pic anyways..

either or an attempt to get himself banned by seeing how far he can push the mods. either way, it was in bad taste. bwa ha ha bad taste... get it? oh, nm.

Quote post has been removed at the moderators request.

But, I am a bit confused. How can a moderator not have post editing abilities? I've been a mod of a forum before, and I had power up the old wazoo......which led to me not being a mod anymore, but that is a completely different story.

Why do people have this need to quote entire posts, anyway?
Do they think we didn't read it or see the picture the first time around? What's wrong with saying "Cute picture, Lil" and than adding whatever number of LOLs are required to underscore the sentiment?

Just sayin'

quoting allows the readers to know which post is being referred to. Simple as.

Just sayin'.

Possibly but, if it is, then it's a stupid rule - not one that I've found anywhere in any forum. Proper moderators need to be big enough to take criticism, or they shouldn't be moderating.

Nice post, Brann. ;)

There are times when a quote is useful, but a lot of times using "@insert name" works just as well. I'm trying to break the serial quoting habit.

I prefer a quote so that I can see exactly what is being replied to - it refreshes my memory about the earlier post. I'd rather not have whole posts quoted if they contain a lot more than is being replied to, but I do like the quote. I usually cut larger posts down so that I only quote what I'm replying to.

Having said that, replies like "Nice pic, <name>" are adequate. It's replies to text that I like to see quotes for.
