pusillanimous: Timid, cowardly, spineless.

Trout Pusillanimous would have been a cooler name.

As for myself, my online persona was born in the land of the ice and snow, so the first name was easy. I imported this persona from another game, thus a firey rebirth into SL, hense the last last name.

Great story!

Your av still creeps me out though.

Lulu was my dearly departed dog, and I always loved her name (my sister came up with it). I am a huge pixies/black francis fan, thus the last name (plus, my mother's first name is Frances)

After I actually got into SL and saw all the crazy names, I regretted picking something so tame, but it's grown on me, and I've grown into it, now I AM Lulu Francis.

Yeah, I'm just not sure how you derive 'Linda' from all that though...

I've long liked the name Daisy and thought it would be a nice name to be called. I'm also happy with the contractions (usually Daze). Also there is a little multilingual pun ...

As for Rimbaud, he is one of my favorite poets, so that was the most attractive last name of the selection available at the time I joined.

I'm Sarah first life and second, and "Nerd" just seemed like the most appealing name on the list to a nerd who was just looking to check out a game her other friends played.

I use Professor (with another last name) on a bunch of Boards I post to, and I am a RL professor, so it was a good fit. Great conversation starter and I have met a lot of other people who are in academia, who got curious and didn't have to look at my profile to know there might be something in common.

None of the last names really grabbed me so I kind of threw a dart and took the one where it stuck.

It's just that, as far as I know, 'Linda' isn't derived from the Latin, meaning "pointless rants in multiple threads, apropos of nothing that's actually going on in said threads at the time of posting." Or something like that. :p

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I am Shirley here because I've used that name in online community for a long time, so it was natural for me to use the name in Second Life. It started out with the joke from Airplane ("Surely you jest!" "Don't call me Shirley!";); I was known as Shirley You Jest elsewhere. I chose the Marquez name because I have been studying Spanish, and I am very interested in the language and culture.

Russian Queen...
09-30-2007 06:37
...in a nutshell.

I have always been fascinated by royalty, particularly the Tudor Monarchy. Then I saw the movie, "Nicholas and Alexandra," years ago and loved the title for queen in Russian: Czarina (or sometimes spelled Tsarina).

I shortened it to Czari and have been such in every online venue since I signed onto IRC during the dark ages of DOS. (The one time I couldn't get the nick was on EQ as someone already had it! Pretender!)

On IRC I was known as The Royal Russian Redhead. I chose the last name for SL to go with the Russian genre (although my background is Irish, Welsh, Scottish, English).

(*The C is silent. People sometimes try to pronounce it like Seezari. It's a silent C. Just "Zari.";)

I chose Kyomoon because it seemed like the most romantic option at the time (because it has the word moon in it.) Then I went to one of names-for-your-baby sites to try to find a good first name. I started with K names, just to be alliterative I guess, and I found Kaimi almost right away. Supposedly it is Hawaiian and means "seeker" which is perfect for me. I ponounce it Kah-eemy.

And Eber is the German word for....hog...as in, male pig. :D But also a normal German surname, so no need to panic yet.

I wasnt even thinking when i first joined SL about how important a name could be..
I tried Isabella with just about every single name and of course taken, I was however set on having that in my name somehow...
Dont ask where the rosa came from i have no idea.. it just popped out of my head in exasperation that all the other names were chosen,
The last name just seemed to flow with IsabellaRosa.. and so I nabbed it, however I am constantly asked, "are you Italian" lol.. or if it is a pun on the name Isabella Rosalini, which I also say no to.

Looking back i should have changed it, as its such a long first name, but i slowly started accumulating content, that was no trans, as you do, so it stuck, most people call me Izzy or Isa in world now.. :P

Can't discuss here how I came to get my SL name. I'd have to shoot you all straight after. :p
Well, as I've given myself away elsewhere in the forum (many in-world friends know this anyway, mainly because I know a few in RL), my avatar and RL names are the same. I even registered the walkermoore.net domain to display personal artwork and photography* months before my SL birthdate, and the whois initial registration date will corroborate that. :)

* No longer there incidentally because I'm planning something quite different for it now.

Speaking of Watership Down--did you guys get a chance to see the movie version? Although not as good as the book (naturally), it really is quite charming, and certainly thought provoking.

Not to mention the artistic style was unique and captivating, and the voice acting was excellent. It will skew a few plot points from the book--so be prepared.

My name comes from the movie version of Watership Down, actually. I was in high school when i saw it again, and in the opening credits it read "Nepenthe Productions Ltd." I loved that word, even before i knew what it meant, so I used it for my Outdoor School name (camp counselor, you pick a name and your real one is secret for a week) as well as nearly everything else online. I've used Hyzenthlay a few times when Nepenthe wasn't available.

My favourite line from the book belongs to Bigwig, though..'silflay hraka, u embleer rah.'

Now THAT is pretty cool! I have a RL last name that will probably never make it into SL as it's pretty rare, so no chance for me to do this!

A lot of RL friends I told about SL right after joining ("OMG you must register for this place!" :D) were really narked to discover I'd managed that. One did manage to register an alt with her RL name when the surnames were rotated in January though, so the opportunity is definitely there if your surname hasn't been implemented yet. It's a bit of a long shot though, and demands a lot of patience and luck. ;)

A very long time ago in a night-club far far away, I was dubbed "Doktor Gummi" because I pulled off a snap repair of a designer latex dress, in the middle of a fashion show, with gaffer tape and a staple gun (the model survived). When the designer saw what I had done he pulled this huge camp number: "oooh! the Gummi Doktor!" etc etc.

When i first went on line, and the little prompt said "nickname" my brain went blank, so I grabbed the first one that came to mind from RL. When I graduated from places like rubberist.net (as featured in Chambers Dictionary! woo hoo!) to SL I was hoping to bring forward the whole of my name: but that's not allowed. So I grabbed Richthofen.

...thereby annoying the germans ("why isn't your suit red? Can't you put the 'von' in the right place?";) and amusing the lower-IQ americans ("gummi bear! ha-ha-ha!";)

Hmmm...:)

Let me translate--bare with me--and excuse the French--Bigwig is a big abrasive at times.

((FOUL LANGUAGE ALERT))

*Are you going to eat your poop you god damned leader!
or
*Eat shit you goddamned figure-head.
or
*Eat you piece of shit god damn pompous bastard!
or
*We eat, we poop, and it smells like my our leader.
or
*All my leader does is eat and poop.

I have never heard this particular translation before. :) I rather think General Woundwort accomplished more than that, even though he was a little...misguided....

I think a lot of the stranger names are earning bots, they often look just like the day they were 'born' too.

I chose "Strife" when I was in URU, it hadn't been getting much sleep and the dyslexia was kicking it hard. The word I was looking for but was unable to find was "Anguish" but by the time I realized that everyone knew me as Strife. I was looking for a new nick name for a couple reasons, the old one was too long and kept getting abbreviated. I was depressed and wanted a word that described how I was feeling inside. I was brought to SL by a friend I had made in URU, so it's not like I could change my name. I choose the last name because I was a bit of an Otaku. "Strife" has grown on me with time.
