I just wanted something that sounded vaguely eastern since my alter ego is a Jogauni (a hybrid canine from Luskwood based loosely on Tibetan mythology). I had the first name picked out and went through the list until I found something that seemed to fit. (I later researched Kasshiki and found out that it's a kind of mask used in Japanese kabuki theatre) It doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, and I get mistaken for a female sometimes (people misreading Deej as Dee before they really look at me), but I like the sound of it It's also cool that there aren't a million others out there with the same name. I'm the only Kasshiki I've seen around.

Well, when I saw the name Razor, I immediately thought of my cell phone in real life. I decided to make this name and create a matching avatar for it. (even though it is spelled Razr, i think, lol) http://i21.tinypic.com/359ireg.jpg

Hypatia - the name is taken from that of the last fellow of the Musaeum of Alexandria. Hypatia was a Neoplatonic philosopher, and her story is as fascinating as it is tragic. She is attributed to having invented the astrolabe and the hydrometer. Means "most high" in Greek. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypatia_of_AlexandriaCallisto - the Roman spelling of Kallisto. The myth of Callisto seems quite fitting - she was seduced by Zeus in the guise of Artemis. *grins* Luckily for me, I've taken care not to have little critters that would have turned me into a bear http://www.pantheon.org/articles/c/callisto.html It means "most beautiful" in Greek... and I like that the Golden Apple of Discord bears a name of similar meaning (Kallisti) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_of_DiscordBut it was sheer luck to get a fitting Greek last name, really... in actuality, my name seems like two first names, which suits me fine And despite my terribly geeky fascination with classical religion, culture and philosophy... no, I'm not Greek at all in real life

My first name (Nimbus) is one that I've used now and then elsenet, and so I decided to use it in SL because (a) it's fairly simple; and (b) it's pretty gender-neutral and doesn't conjure any obvious images in the way that many more familiar names do, thus leaving me free to create an SL persona in any way that seems appropriate to me without worrying about whether or not my name "works" in that context. When I first came up with it as a nom-de-net a few years ago, I was scratching about for ideas when signing up for a MUD, and tried out the names of my sweetie's cats. Nimbus was the one that wasn't already taken, and it's kinda stuck since then. As for the surname... well, I wanted something short and simple but not everyday-anglo (such as Smith or Jones etc). When I saw Rau on the list I thought it sounded interesting. It was only later that I realised that it seemed familiar since it was the surname of someone who'd been on the news a fair bit where I live (Australia). Not to worry, it's still a good name. :-7 If I'd realised when I signed up that approximately half of the time I'd get addressed as "Numbus" I might have had second thoughts about using it as an SL name. *chuckle* Still, Nimbus has a certain appropriateness since it started out as the name of a cat, and now my SL business revolves around making cat avatars!

Bodhisatva = Second life is another opportunity to grow toward enlightenment and perhaps join others in the same pursuit. It's a chance for me to exercise my irrational affection for the human species. Paperclip = The paperclip is the gentle joiner among office products; it's less severe than the binder clip, not damaging like the staple. The paper clip softly brings together disparate elements temporarily (at least at first) and allows them movement, accommodates the coming and going of its friends. It is the very wiry embodiment of respectful love.

I like two-stepping and could pretty much live on a dance floor. I have been some variation of that phrase since I first started online stuff waaaaaay back when. Jewell - cuz it was the only last name that seemed to sound right.

Jesseaitui...... My RL name (Jesse Aitui). I always use it formessage board registrations, emails, etc so when I registered here, habitually, I typed in "jesseaitui" I dont like the last name "petion" but it was one of the better choices of the lot.
Lots of people get confused by it and call me weird things, like 'jessea' or 'jesseai'. And no one knows how to pronounce "aitui" and that kind of bugs me lol. Lots of people say "eye-2-eye" its actually "eye-2-EEEEEEE"

I chose Magne because it makes me think of Magus, which is one of my favorite video game characters, coming from Chrono Trigger. That is the last name.
I chose Darkpoet, because that is what I am and have been for years. I write poetry and much of it has a darker theme, and it is a name I use both online and IRL there are people I know that when they see me they call out "Hey, DP!"
I am the Darkpoet

I picked the last name first - Sarlo sounds like 'Harlo'. as in Jean Harlow. I thought it sounded kind of sexy. lol
Solanghe (pronounced Sol-AHN-ghe) is my French grandmother's name.
One thing though, I'm sure some of you know there is a designer in SL named Solange, spelled the same only without the "h". If I'd know that, I may have chosen a different name although I do enjoy people occasionally asking me, " Are you THE Solange?"
/me smiles

BTW, I'm working on v1.5 as we speak, with a stack of new animations and sound effects and so on all included. (Anyone who has the older version will be entitled to a free upgrade.) If you've joined the store group, you'll get a notice letting you know when the upgrade's ready to go. If you like my kitties, I think the "roll around on the floor purring ecstatically" animation I've just made for the new version will be something you'll probably want.

That makes me want to make a big replica of one on a pedestal, with that quote attached on a plaque. I could sit and contemplate it.

First name's an internet moniker I used years ago in another context and too boring to go into detail. Literary reference from Tristram Shandy (cod latin meaning "pile of offal" or somesuch). Liked the way it sounded with Slade and I'm finally getting a feel for what my AV might end up as; I'm still using a standard freebie cause I never worked out who/ what he is.
I've an alt - SunilKumar Tomorrow - I can't use for taste reasons. Thought it was moderately witty at the time but since discovered it has very sad resonance.
3Ring Binder is a favourite.
@Trout - disappointed with your relation to your name. Personally I've always regarded cowardice as an honourable calling.

From: Elora Lunasea Elora was the baby in Willow - one of my favorite movies. I use that name as a username in various other places online. It's also kind of close to my real name, my Av is kind of an elevated version of myself (only younger and thinner - but esentially darn similar).
Lunasea, well I had to pick from that awful group of last names they give you. Most suck but this one had a lyrical quality to it which I liked with Elora, the alliteration of the "L" sound was nice and the idea of an ocean on the moon was appealing and dreamy. Not to rain on your parade, but Lunasea could be pronounced lunacy and give you a new meaning.

My pimped name is: L'il Delite (oh, that's the pimped name of my SL name) Fresha Jones (pimped name of my actual name) <- does not make any sense, I do not have F, e, or J in my real name.

I'm Extacy Jackson; the pop star version is Deborah Holiday, the rock version is Eden Jett. My alt would be Nikki Lavendar (WTF?), my RL Nikki Tasti, although my RL name and my alt have nothing in common...

From: Alyx Sands *linguistic material collection overdose* *faints* *wakes up again just to tell Raudf something* @Raudf, I know what you're talking about- the eth rune, right? Well, English used to have it 1,000 years ago, too.... Yeppers. So, it was just easier for me to break it up into the two. Besides, it made it a bit more original.. and now, it's pretty much my signature for a lot of other places, such as MMO's. Strangely, the name is very rarely taken... and I think where it is, I've signed up for it in the past and never realized it.

Mia is a short version of my RL name (Mi---a); right now I'm in a process of making it official in RL too. Both names have a good flow together as they sound and graphically so it was a lucky choice for me .
