Dunno. My main point was the 'im always right and youre always wrong' from her.

Example from what I mentioned was that to me, SL is a game. It doesn't mean there aren't people with feelings behind the personas, but I see it as a game.

I also mentioend that everyone sees it differently, and theres no one 'right' answer.

I think it was pointing out that in games like Dungeons & Dragons, there is no final, end goal. It's the same with second life. Apparently, rebutting an argument logically with one she can't argue against is drama?

Sure there is. When all the PCs are dead, the DM wins.

Leastways that's what Dave Hargrave told me.

5 ft. 5 in. here and never been mistaken for a child, not even when I was down at 5 ft. 2 in. Got plenty of "aww cutey" and "aren't you a lil' one" but that only usually lasts until I bite them :) VV

It's on the top of the hill in the middle of Torley's sim "Here", next to the giant keyboards.

I dont have anything to prove to you negative people, to the previous post you started it with me remember i only defended myself that is when you became the drama junkie because you would not shut up and mind your own business.

I dont care what any of you say, thank you to the ones who were supportive on the topic at hand and to the others all i can say is i hope you see a doctor for your problems im sure shrinks are not that expensive where you are.

Briana if that comment about someone running guard for a 1 year old was directed at me you better retract it, i am not one years old i have been in sl much longer this is just a new av.

You asked for advice....we gave it.

I even prefaced mine with "No offense."

YOU created the drama. I don't appreciate a Nastygram insulting me, after I took minutes out of my day to give helpful advice.

Your profile wreaked of Bad Karma and Major Drama....and here you are right in the middle of it.

People who do NOT need a shrink will walk away from that....not only walk, but run. You're not being discriminated against because of your height....loud and clear....no smiley faces, today.

why do people feel it necessary to poke at an avatars age?

The age really is not relevant in some cases.

I was only in SL a few days and people thought I was an alt, because my level of knowledge was far beyond what they expected a few day old avatar to know, then there are those who have been in SL years, and still do not now how to make a box.

the thing to remember Dove, whether people are against you for your height, or your profile, or whatever, just be yourself.

Those who do not like it, they can just walk away and not have anything to do with you. No skin off your nose as the saying goes LOL

Don't feel you need to defend yourself or what you choose to put in your profile (unless it were breaking the TOS, which it is not as far as I could tell) you have no reason to defend yourself. (I don't like seeing where folks feel they need to defend themselves against opinions of others, be they from here or elsewhere)
I used to feel the need to constantly defend myself, but now.. I have a take me as I am attitude, if someone doesn't like me or my profile, or what I say or how I think or whatever... then they can go away, I don't have time for people like that.

people will choose to like someone, or dislike them, based on whatever they decide to judge that person on.

*shrug*

I guess what I am trying to say is... be yourself, no matter what.
If putting that stuff in your profile is who you are then, be who you are.
It will pull like minded people to you, and push away those who you would probably not click with anyway heh.

Cheers

She did not ask for people to check out her profile and nitpick it, she asked about height, nothing more.

If the advice given was about height then she would have gotten advice she asked for.

I did not see anywhere in her post, her asking for people to go to her profile and tell her about what they think is wrong with it.

I frequent sl quite a lot and my avatar is 5 ft 5 inches in secondlife and because of it i can't find friends or jobs or anything, people always tell me im too short and that i should change to a more normal height..is this right should i lose my individuality to be abnormally tall like everyone else. I can't even find myself a male companion because they just don't want to be with anyone who only goes up to say their chest or even less. I hate being an outcast because i want to be normal heighted. If you are short like me please show yourself i hate being discriminated because of it. I have people tell me i look like a child and i get a lot of oh she is soo cute or adorable. What can i do where can i go lol.

I see comments about not getting a job because she was too short, that she should change to a normal height, I see guys not wanting to be with her cuz she only comes to their chest or less.
I see her asking about how other short avatar people deal with it, if others do. I see her saying ppl tell her she looks like a child and is cute etc
I see her asking where can she go and what can she do

I presumed it was all about height... not her profile.

Correction..

People will choose to like someone, or dislike them, based on whatever that person gives them to be judged upon and how they present themselves.

Sure, be yourself no matter what - but that is an awfully selfish way of going about ones life, and if you take crap for it, don't come to the forums whining over it oblivious as to why.

If you post in the forum, expect scrutiny, you are bringing YOURSELF - YOUR SL SELF into this forum so expect people to scrutinize you based on your SL self (i.e. profile) and how you present yourself.

There is no such rule nor has there ever been stating that one cannot interject the contents of a persons profile into the conversation if one thinks it is germane to the topic.

If you ask for advice - be careful because you often get more than what you ask for, especially if people think there is something you don't know about that could be affecting the advice in question.

yes I should have worded it that way, sorry, people judge on how others present themselves, sometimes it might not even be how that person is in realiity. sorry about that, I guess I presume because I am me, others are themselves, but there are a lot of roleplayers in SL too

why is it selfish to be me?
why would I not want to be me??
That statement makes no sense, selfish for being myself????
Wow!

For the record I do not roleplay, so being me is all I know how to do, and I do not think it is selfish to be me.

I do not come to the forums whining if someone doesn't like who I am. I do not see others whining either, I saw someone with questions, that were about height, nothing more, then I saw others decide to comment about other aspects of that person that had nothing to do with height.

(sorry still wondering why it is selfish to be myself... I would rather be who I am, than lead a false life, and pretend to be someone I am not)

Stop trying to control the scope of the matter as it is not for you to control but for the people who wish to respond to the OP. Whether or not the expand or contract the issue based on what they learn about her or what she says in the forum is a matter left up to the respondent, not independent thread police trying to control the direction of the issue.

if being 'yourself' means insulting other people, then yea, it is being selfish.

Being mean and nasty and "bitchy" is easy.

Being considerate and respectful and generally nice is much harder. Therefore as far as i am concerned if being yourself comes at the expense of others then maybe you should reconsider the type of person you are being.

I am not trying to control anything, I am trying to understand why some folks felt the need to belittle someone who came here for an answer, nothing more

*shrug*

think what you wish, not for me to try to convince you otherwise

and I have as much right to type and respond here as much as anyone does

(and if your post was directed at me, then wow, never knew I was forum police, and if not, then... ignore my post, as it won't pertain)

Drama begets drama... I just find it amusing that a person with the usual "drama" remarks in their profile comes to the forum and starts.....what? DRAMA.

Go figure...who woulda thunk that coulda happened?!

um I do not attack people, I am not mean bitchy or nasty, unless the other person treats me in such a way that I will respond in kind.

we all have bad days, every one of us.

I still do not see it as being selfish.

let's say ok... I am mean, bitchy, snarky, always correcting people, always something negative to say....

ya know what happens... I would have no friends, I would be muted by everyone, and I would lead a very lonely life... that is in no way selfish, it is just being a lonely, mean, bitchy person, who chooses to be that way.

(but I am not that kind of person, especially when someone gets to know me)

however regardless of how we present our selves, there will always be people who will hate us for no reason.
selfishness has no part in it, it is just how it is

oh lordy no, my comment relates to something more deeper than this thread, but yes I should not have said that

however I do not see it as an insult, but rather a point, nothing more.
(if someone told me they were gonna pretend I do not exist, then all the power to them, not an insult to me at all, that is their choice)

and ya know what.... I am human...

take it or leave it (and how the hell did this switch over to "let's pick apart rha now"?) cuz that is what it feels like LOL

pick away, all you will find is the same thing everyone else has, good days, bad days, opinions, thoughts, emotions, desires, friends, enemies, and everything else that makes us who we are

wait! how did the op start drama? she asked about height, someone else felt the need to pick apart her profile insult her, and belittle her.... (much like how I have been at the receiving end of that particular stick, as has a lot of others)
