I frequent sl quite a lot and my avatar is 5 ft 5 inches in secondlife and because of it i can't find friends or jobs or anything, people always tell me im too short and that i should change to a more normal height..is this right should i lose my individuality to be abnormally tall like everyone else. I can't even find myself a male companion because they just don't want to be with anyone who only goes up to say their chest or even less. I hate being an outcast because i want to be normal heighted. If you are short like me please show yourself i hate being discriminated because of it. I have people tell me i look like a child and i get a lot of oh she is soo cute or adorable. What can i do where can i go lol.

My avatar height compared to a prim is about the same as yours..........I've never been discriminated against. In the four or so years I can remember maybe one or two derogatory comments about my size. As for jobs, I was rather sought after for a while when I was dancing. Might be where you hang out.

If you play in the tiny sims you can be a giantess. Bring fresh boiled maple syrup and you can be a goddess too.

5'2" and sometimes ppl think I am a kid, however I do not really go to very many places so not sure how ppl would react if I were to walk into a club or something
I also do not have a stick thin shape either, obviously just a short adult _____________________

*Shrugs* If that's how you choose to look; how you're comfortable, just shrug it off.
Every now and then I get the weird insult hurled at me out of the blue for having a furry-ish look (though generally more compliments), but I tend to take that more as that person's lack of both imagination and confidence to express themselves - and by extension, of others doing that. I guess there are some places I cut myself off from by not being human (let alone tall, busty, bling-bimbo), but then we're back to the principle that if people do not want you the way you're comfortable, then you likely don't really want those people in the first place. |

Ahem -- I don't think Dove's profile pic would be mistaken for a child. It just sounds like people being the usual pains that they can be sometimes.
I am about 0.4 meters tall lately and I don't get mistaken for a child. ![]() _____________________

True, true, but I'm sure any prospects of being a pole dancer would be just as limited. (^_^)y Hey, I'd pay to see that! |

5'5 is completely normal-- i.e. the height of most people in the real world-- and they likely are 8 feet tall. Unless they are dragons, they are completely unnatural. FFS I'm 5'12 in heels in SL. Furthermore, anyone who would tell you get lost because of physical appearance is not worth talking to.
Another idea: copy this down to a notecard in world and give it to anyone who says "you're short!" /327/e8/321251/1.html |

I have nothing to add to this thread other than I should have named my avatar Hulk Manchunk.

I have noticed in the art community, many avatars are smaller rather than too big, I even thought of chopping of 3 or 4 inches from my own height recently, but I guess I'd still be around 6ft

Stick with who you want to be, Dove. I'm gradually shrinking, I think, but must admit I feel most comfortable if I'm no too different height-wise to friends.
I like exploring as a snail sometimes, and hate it when some people walk all over me like I don't exist (that may be a short-thing or a gastropod-thing, not sure, but I feel like its a "you're short, get out of my way"-thing). So I made a prim slime ball come out when needed to gently move them back. I can send one over if you like? _____________________

Just stick with it ... I'm 5' 4" .... every now and then I get the occasional kid reference, but then again ... I often hang out with kids.
Stick with your guns and don't increase your height just to appease the masses. |

I'm just over five feet tall in SL and have never been discriminated against or mistaken for being a child. The only unflattering comments I've received have been about my weight--I'm short and chubby--but even those have been very rare, and far outnumbered by compliments.

Hey, I'd pay to see that! Where's the tip jar for this peep show? I think my AV's 5.5 or 4 or 3 or 6 or something too. Taller than me, but I still find other AV's towering over her. Doesn't cause me any grief though. Maybe I'm not paranoid enough - when I walk into a club and 2 people IM me, I don't assume the other 18 are avoiding me, I just assume they're doing their own thing and I'm thrilled I captured 2 just by walking by. ![]() |

I have people tell me i look like a child and i get a lot of oh she is soo cute or adorable. What can i do where can i go lol. I don't like to be called abnormal in a virtual world where what we see on our screen is pixels. If you meet me inworld, do you honestly believe that I'm a 6'3 tall hot brunette with icy blue eyes in RL too? I look like this because I like what i see on my screen, and my height make me blend in. I see no difference between choosing another eye color or choosing another height. Next week I can have an african dark skin and braids. Or light blonde hair and green eyes. I know real life height are very important for some, and I think they should stick to it. Don't change who you are, but don't harass others with a different view. I think some of the grief you get is because you are hanging out with wrong people. That can happen for everyone of us. I never care if someone's avatar is taller or shorter than me, it's their personality that matters. The most sexy man in sl 2008, Bone Mosten, has an avatar that's 6 feet tall. I know there's a group inworld for real life height? Maybe some of the others who reply here can tell you more about it. |

If you meet me inworld, do you honestly believe that I'm a 6'3 tall hot brunette with icy blue eyes in RL too? Seriously. There's no special virtue in liking your av to be shorter than SL-average. *ETA* I'm 5'3" in this av but nobody mistakes me for a kid. ![]() |

*hugs* Dove
Don't let it bother you, who you are is more important than what residents think you are. My avi is one of the taller ones, funny I chose a height that is shorter than I am RL, at least in SL I'm not considered a freak for my height like I am in RL. _____________________
