I spent 100's of man hours creating 10,000 prims worth of furniture. I surely do not care if i see it in some reseller's shop at half the price.

That is you....many content creators don't share your view. Many didn't back in 2004 as shown, when Mod/Copy became the common permission system to use in the Fashion sector moving forwards.

That is usually what the people say who are lacking in both age and experience....
I will entertain this little ad hominem for just a second - long enough to give a quick history lesson of my own:

It's been said that the leading contributor to the demise of the HMS Titanic wasn't the iceberg. Rather, it was the captain's level of experience. Specifically, he was too experienced. Less-seasoned captains would more than likely have heeded the oceanographer reports, thus avoiding the very circumstances that led up to the iceberg collision.

Just something to think about.

Uh. No.

It was the metal the titanic had been cast with that had been found to be flawed so that when the iceberg hit the titanic the hull shattered when it should have held.

History, FTW.

And perspective....

You were so quick to come back with a witty response that you completely missed the point I was driving at. Please read it again - slowly.

Odd, transfer is STILL the most common permission set for clothes. I have to look hard to find good copy outfits for guys.

Ohhhh, so you believe that my reply would have either not happened or have been different had i understood the message in your post?

Your post, in my opinion, was more something to think about and not reply to.

Interesting assumption.

but had the captain chosen a different route, the Titanic would not have hit the Iceberg and the inferior made tapets would have not been subjected to the strain!

But it would not have mattered if the hull had not been flawed.

Well the clothes in my Inventory are mostly Mod/Copy. All my "House of Rfyre "stuff are Mod/Tfr of which i have quite a lot of....but the rest seems to be Mod/Copy.
We obviously shop in different places.

Apart from being good at making jibes...do you offer up any reasonable explainations? You still haven't answered some of the questions asked in previous posts. Instead you choose to answer posts with childish smileys or pictures of cats!
I think i'll talk to the hand instead.....i might get more reasonable feedback.

Awww....getting upset are we?

I made my points, you did not like them. I am not about to beat you over the head with them or repeat them or go round and round like you obviously want to.

The only question i haven't answered is the one that chases away your lack of knowledge regarding sound files.

Search is your friend, the information is there, it has been posted before.

The picture of the cat had some words. :p <another smiley!>

The hand to what?
This topic wasn't even a discussion it was just some nooblets trying to smear over everybody what they learned in economics 101 the past week.

Oh that is right, you are talking about global economics and kathryne is talking about the Titanic and how her lack of age in SL means nothing in regards to her predictions of a market crash if flea markets/resell shops existed.

I said my piece, you do not care for it. *shrug* what do you expect now? 40 more posts of reiterations of the same arguments? Yea, you can talk to the hand real fast if you think i will be part of that nonsense.

Exactly. You expect your post to be taken seriously while everything i said has been dismissed?? And your posts and predictions are based on what information that pertains to SL???

I mean....can we talk about hiding behind the illusion of maturity?

I am done with you and the Global Econ person, Rene.

I will respond to anyone else however. :D (o YAY another smiley!)

Yea, he was sure hip on history as well. I guess all those other doom and gloom predictions not coming true meant nothing to him when he made his.

I said "but history", they said "history is irrelevant" and responded with a comparison to the Titanic and Global Economies, oh and the idea that SL has hit a technological plateau which will cause creativity to stagnate...and um..oh yea, and that there are only 13 prim shapes. o.O

Yea, I take you both seriously all right...

Well maybe i'm an old SL user and maybe i'm not wise at all , or plain dumb...

But may i suggest to some a little trip to the ivory tower of primitives? It might shed some light in this big empty space inbetween eardrums.

I said there are technological ceilings whether you can accept that or not. If you think LL can continously bolt on new tools & gizmos without reaching a ceiling in what their platform can physically handle....you're sorely mistaken. I used the sound file as an example, as its relatively old technology, yet this platform can't handle more than a 9.8 sec wav file.....that just shows there must be some limitations in place regarding the platform perfomance. No need for me to google the answer...itis really self explanatory.

Likewise with creating garments, I provided a "what if" scenario....what if LL are not able to add anymore gizmos like sculpities without destabilising the platform.
It would simply mean that all fashion creators would use the same tools.....the innovation you talk about would then come from unique designs, unique textures and unique styles and not from LL tools as over time most creators in the market would have learnt how to make and incorporate "sculpities" into their designs.
The separator between creations would be purely down to the designs and not the tools used.

The difference between non-flexi hair and flexi hair are worlds apart, likewise with garments when comparing stuff made in 2004 and 2007. The difference was huge and "yes" you would look a bit silly walking around with creations made from 2004.

However as the technological advancements either stop or are greatly reduced...designers will be using the same methods to make their products. Which means the way a dress was made in 2009 won't differ much then the ones made in 2010....meaning its able to have a longer shelf life. Its not like comparing non-flexi hair to flexi hair....the differences will purely come to down to style, textures, designs from the use of existing tools which would have been the same over a period of time.

There are 4 398 046 511 104 way to lay pixels on a 512x512 texture, i think it's enough for me.
