Apparently not, since they have posted a list of things which are not welcome, including furries.

My point exactly. I wonder how the people at Cologne Cathedral might feel about this.

Doesn't the Catholic Church practice banning people? Excommunication? This isn't even go back to the Old Testament with it's lists of people who are not allowed in the Hosts of the Lord.

This is supposed to be a church, supposedly open to all ......

It is. They just have a dress code.

I just got in there (as my Tiny Rabbit - haven't got a furry) and got me the notecard.

It says that furries are akin to masquerading in real life, whch is regarded as disrespectful for visiting churches.

Of course, everybody else's avatars, as long as they are not furry, are not "masquerades" in the slightest.

In all fairness, they seem pretty laid back about pederasts.

Like I said, that's where they have failed to make the transition between RL and SL.

As was just mentioned in the discussion, they are applying the real-world rules, with "no wings" and "no furries" being translations of "no masquerading".

I thought that was a requirement if you want to be a Catholic priest.

Funny, you are upset with them making a blanket statement about a group, furries. Yet you make a blanket statement about priests.

I am not saying I'm in favour of dress codes.

I am saying that you were wrong to criticise the build(ers) for not being open to all because they are, as long as they're not dressed in a way they find inappropriate.

The key is in the point of view expressed here. So they see it differently - okay. It is a disappointment but come ON. It's not bias in the sense that they are saying Furries are some representation of evil and must be banned. It's merely a point of view that is applying real world rules to the church. It's not like they have NO GAYS on the sign. It's not intended to be discrimination.

Hmmmm. Wonder if that includes Ants, Tarantulas, Black Widows or Scorpions and other insects.

Of course snakes are out. Apparently, there was an incident involving a snake and an apple that resulted in people not liking snakes.

This is crazy, stupid, and I for one will not be going to see it and will definitely be recomending to all of my friends to avoid it.

Sometimes, segments of the Human Race make me ashamed to be a part of it.

I've pretty much come to the conclusion long ago that any religion becomes stupid once people become involved.

As for the landowner restricting who can come to their build; well, that's their right. It's my right to think they are a bunch of idiots who do not have three IQ points among the grouping. I'll think I'll pass on going there, or even telling others to go there.

Nice build, too bad the attitude is so ugly.

Banning furries is just the same as banning black avatars, or avatars with red eyes. Everyone here is a member of the SL universe, including furries, robots or whatever.

I guess I don't. I support both of you being able to make blanket statements.

If I were really paranoid I would say this doesn't bode well for the future. You start by excluding them, then relocating them, then finally you usher them into the gas chamber?

Goverment project for community interaction and they are banning portions of the community? I'm glad this isn't my goverment.

I would support the right of the property owner to ban both of those groups if he so wished. I would even support their right to ban smart ass white boys.

If you don't have the right to not associate, then the right to associate is meaningless.

If this was the government, you might have a point. But this is a action taken by a private party. The owners of the Cologne sim have no power or authority outside the Cologne sim.

Not mine, because I quite like my religion, but I do hate bigotry and plain stupidity! ;)
I don't mind dress codes to respect other people's beliefs at all, but I do mind senseless exclusions like "no furries".

NOW I'm insulted.

They are pondering allowing Furries, but flatly rule out Furry Tinies.

Meh.
