From: Annabelle Babii Once I'm out of RL work tonight, I'm logging in, visiting the cathedral, walking up the center aisle and morphing into my 20m long quadruped dragon form.
I would be pleased to be banned from such a place. Please take a pic! Hey, dragons are SO not furry!

From: Alyx Sands Please take a pic! Hey, dragons are SO not furry! Exactly my point. So they have to include scalies, too. Then what? Black avatars? Short avatars? Non-registered-as-white-middle-to-upper-class-catholic avatars? Why am I not surprized that this bigottry comes out of Germany?

Why am I not surprized that this bigottry comes out of Germany? Me neither, and I AM German. As I said it's that typical "nothing is allowed here" attitude....

From: Colette Meiji I wonder why this is? - Do they consider furries to be disrespectful?
Are there clothing / bling restrictions? The sign says: Decent clothing (obvious to me) Respectful behavior (dito) No wings (probably not to pose as an angel) No hats (it's costumary in churches to remove your hat) No weapons (obviously our of place in a church) No furry avatars - WHY?

I think Colette said it perfectly: everyone here is human - I think - and all avatars are masks of sorts. But why are we not really surprised that even a virtual church begins by excluding certain (human)beings. Then again the whole sim does want to be a place for Germans, so let the Germans bloody well have it. My apologies to all nice Germans, including the OP If I were a furry ....

Wonder how they feel about Vampires, werewolves, wizards, elves, drow etc.? It does seem a bit odd to single out Furries.
On the other hand, while I can see that for many their AV is more than merely a 'role' - more a complete inworld persona - we all have the choice to simply 'wear' a different AV if circumstances require. Think of it putting on your Sunday best. In the end, it's their land. If you're not prepared to fit in with their wishes on their own land who precisely is being intransigent here?

I just got in there (as my Tiny Rabbit - haven't got a furry) and got me the notecard.
It says that furries are akin to masquerading in real life, whch is regarded as disrespectful for visiting churches.

Well the land owners are entitled to ban whatever they want. But people are also entitled to complain about it. It only becomes an issue when either the complainers harrass the land owners - Or the complainers expect the Lindens to step in.

I doubt many furries consider themselves masquerading. Id be more supportive of logic something like this "This is an attempt to simulate a Real Life church thus we only want Human Avatars here."

From: Alyx Sands It doesn't say headpieces, just basically hats....which is weird too. Al the old ladies I know go to church with a headscarf. Maybe I should try and visit it with my burqa? "Kopfbedeckung" is more than just hats. It includes headscarves.

It says that furries are akin to masquerading in real life, whch is regarded as disrespectful for visiting churches. Yeah, but if a person's standard av is furry, then going as human is the real masquerade...they're pretending to be something they're not (in SL).

I have never understood the desire to go someplace where you are not wanted. If I am not welcome someplace, then I don't go there.

From: Raynor Hammerer "Kopfbedeckung" is more than just hats. It includes headscarves. Women are SUPPOSED to wear hats in church, especially Catholic churches. Men are not allowed to. Odd that.

You can bet if they leave it like that I'll stay out. As much as I like the RL cathedral. @Raynor: That's what I meant, it's not just any old headpiece like a tiara or something. And your wabbit is pretty furry too...

From: Chas Connolly Those who hate difference hate life itself - Chas Connolly Never said I hated difference. I just support the right of free association (which if it doesn't include the right to not associate is worthless). I also support the right of a property owner to bar access to his property to anyone for any reason.
