Just because it's not your holiday doesn't mean we don't wish you well. If you can't deal with people making well-meaning mistakes, I'm sorry for you. I take the complement when gay men make a pass at me (I'm a straight man); try to take our occasional errors about your nationality the same way.

Oh I wouldn't have gone there...something tells me the OP is from a place where they still probably stone gay people

Just FYI:

I used to think some of Heinlein's quotes were pretty cool, but I've run into a few people who take things like the "specialization" quote WAY too seriously, and now my automatic reaction to Heinlein quotes is to run the other way.

@Tegg: Hubbard started his whole religion schtick as a result of a bar bet with Robert Heinlein.

Sometimes I think Heinlein himself would run screaming from it.

In this context, after all that has happened in the last 20 years in the USA, any city government that puts up religious symbols on government land cannot possibly simply be trying to "decorate for the holidays". No. Putting up religious symbols on government land today is always a deliberately provocative, political act. It is highly disingenuous to claim otherwise.

People who truly want to practice brotherly love in this day and age do it by not picking fights with their neighbors. And if we want to keep the school from being torn apart, we'll have to acknowledge that no one group can run the student council anymore.

Well said! Thank you for taking the time to post this. :)

My pet peeve about Thanksgiving is how can you have dressing, mash potatoes and not have any gravy. That is like what.....a cardinal sin? :(

That's crazy talk. You simply can not have stuffing and mashed potatoes without gravy.

We will be celebrating this day with a series of coordinated raids upon unspecified targets. I am merely awaiting confirmation from the Caledon Navy that we will be receiving gunship support.

God knows, we don't want another Bay of Pigs on our hands . . .

You can't have gunboat support if you ban gravy.

Um . . .

I'm sure we can come up with a suitable compromise then . . .

Comandante 8 1/2

ETA: I have consulted with my comrades, and we have determined that "dripping" is an acceptable substitute for gravy, being a solidly proletarian accompaniment to wholesome meals scratched by back-breaking labour from the unforgiving soil.

Gravy is a staple in my culture, much like perhaps, say, chocolate may be in yours? Cannot say no to gravy, would be put out of the family.

Communique #15.2

The Central Committee of FLOSK having met to discuss the full implications of the "Gravy" issue, it has been decided that "Gravy" constitutes a form of cultural expression that is, in fact, entirely Proletarian, and hence NOT subject to sanctions.

Comrades, enjoy your gravy!

Oh, and while we're at it, I also don't observe "Martin Luthor King Day/Memorial Day/Independence Day/Labor Day/Columbus Day/Veterans Day or any other specific American holiday"... thanks...so please don't ask me what I did on my "days off"on those days...once again, not everyone in Second Life is American, so please don't assume they are...

If you are ever in America again on one of our special days, hopefully they will serve you a balogna sandwish insteat of sharing their scruptious meal with you and forcing you to celebrate with them. Please sit on the back patio while we give our thanks we wouldnt want to offend your ears. God forbid you found something to be greatful for while sharing a meal with one of us.

Naw, I don't dislike you or hate you. I just think that you are stupid. If I was in another Country other then my own and they shared their holiday with me, I would feel complimented rather then offended.
