From: Rhaorth Antonelli Then, why after so many folks have explained to you, that reading your way of purposeful typos makes it very difficult and uncomfortable to read, why do you insist on continuing to do the obviously on purpose typos? (and don't tell me that typing things like teh is not on purpose, cuz if it wasn't then you would be typoing anything that had a th come together. Also if it was due to clumsy fingers it would not only be select words. The reason it feels like a slap in the face, is because you choose to do it, knowing it makes others uncomfortable (and not just one or two, but a lot of folks have kindly pointed it out to you). so if you continue to do so, that is your choice, but it is just as rude as your thinking putting someone on ignore is rude. be yourself, Jig. we can all read and understand it just fine.

From: Brenda Connolly Pep, you are quite free to speak here and rail against anyone's postings , just as free as they are to make them. You can be indignant over their spelling, grammar, and whatever else you may feel is insulting and a waste of your time, but please don't believe you are speaking for anyone but yourself. We are all capable of voicing those same opinions if we so desire. You may carry on. Thank you, Brenda. I, of course, can believe anything I like, including that I do speak for (some, perhaps many) others, particularly those who have reiterated my observations. Pep (as with all beliefs, they might be wrong, but they may also be accurate)

From: 3Ring Binder and irrelevant. Of course you have the right to post irrelevant nonsense 3Ring. Pep (As exemplified by your role as the Queen of "me too" posts)

From: Rhaorth Antonelli Pep, if you insist on correcting the grammar of posters throughout the forums, then why have you not attacked my posts? I butcher the English language on a daily basis, with run on sentences, fragments, misuse of capitalization, typos, and the lack or overuse of punctuation. However I do not see you correcting mine. You don't seem to make any arguments that I feel would be diluted by minor unintentional presentational errors. Pep (I'm not sure if that is a compliment or not. You decide.) PS If you check the correct meaning of "run-on sentences" you may find that you are not guilty.

From: Pserendipity Daniels I would entirely agree, if it should happen. Then your agreement is a certainty, Mr. "they way" "vaccuum". From: someone Pep ("make more errors in their own posts than they correct in others" - an almost impossible task, I would have said) Impossible to miss, I say.

Pep (Merely observed) In the case of teh coordinating conjunction "nor" I would judge that the comma isnt required as in: Biofeedback is effective but costly. Jig (always on hand with advice for grammarians and B.o.Fs)

Jig (always on hand with advice for grammarians and B.o.Fs) You are, of course, entitled to your opinion. Pep (With your track record I doubt whether many would consider your view of any relevance)

From: Rhaorth Antonelli oh lord, if only we could do that, ignore a thread and it would never be on the screen LOL There is actually a modification for VB that does allow you to do that. Of course that would require LL to actually update their software and we all know that is never going to happen...

'Pologies but I can't help bein' a big 'A' followed by a couple of s's and the word 'hole' sometimes. OK then, a lot of the time. From: Rioko Bamaisin There is actually a modification for VB that does allow you to do that. From: Pserendipity Daniels You appear to be engaging in 3Ring's desire to post irrelevant nonsense now. ..and you appear to be engaging in your typical activity of wallowing in the depths of hypocrisy. "Irrelevant nonsense" pretty much describes the domain of your existence here, though. From: someone Pep (Too much or too little medication perhaps?) I'd say you are on about the same amount of idiot-weed as you usually are. It is not really all that noteworthy. However, maybe you are just having a slow day. You'll just have to work harder at it, is all.

From: Rhaorth Antonelli apologies for what? being an asshole or saying I started it? LOL (do not need to apologize for either one by the way) I was being an 'A' word (they deleted the last post where I explicitly used it so excuse my coyness) for pointing out you started it. I understand it wasn't your intention to have us all going at it like fishwives on market day. But I guess you might have missed my amendment above: it looks as though there will be some form of edit facility in the new blogs that will allow us to filter out the stuff that doesn't interest us.

I like the 'Ignore feature' very much
03-02-2009 08:46
I'm from Italy and I'm not very fluent in english - so reading english text is much harder for me than reading it in italian - and it takes longer.
Still, I find that many useful information gets published in these forums.
I also find that _nearly all_ comments by certain users aren't useful to me, and worst of all - these people usually write what I think are actual bullshits. I really cannot afford to spend lots of time to read bullshits.
Unfortunately I'm not able to skip something without reading it like someone else (e.g. Talarus) can do. My options actually are: "don't read the whole forum" vs. "skip posts by well-known morons".
So, I really love the Ignore feature, and I'm happily using it with more than a couple of users here.
I don't think that anyone has the _right to_ be heard by me. This is important from an ethic point of view. Everyone has the _right to_ espress themselves (and I value much this right) but this doesn't mean I _have to listen to_ them.
This said, I'd even be fine with being perceived as a rude person by someone that I perceive being a moron. I mean - if I meet you daily at the local pub and every time you act like a moron, it's not a big surprise if I stop listening to you, and possibly stop greeting you. This doesn't restrict your right to behave as you like.
