I saw dis page http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Roles which lists Magellan as inactive, with the note "Not officially retired, but blog updates just petered out... " - makes me wonder if not even the Lindens know his whereabouts.

Th' same page sez dat Pony Linden went to the glue factory. Was she takin' a tour or someting?

Mari

I had seen that too. But not the part about Pony. Um... sounds like Pony might be in a bit of a sticky situation as well. Might be good to get Pony's key too. The quicker the better.

p.s. Mari, did you edit Magellan's key out of your post... I could have sworn I saw it there earlier.

Interesting... Pony still shows up on the inworld Search, but Magellan does not. Both show up on the Linden Roles page as "Former Lindens," with Magellan "inactive" and Pony... um... touring a glue factory. Maybe Magellan HAS assumed a new identity. There are quite a few other residents in Search named, "Magellan." Could one of them be him?

I wasn't so worried about Pony. After all, Pony and Ben Linden rode off into the sunset a little over a year ago together. Pony didn't seem to be in any danger and looks to have rode away willingly.. Unless one interprets Pony's "neigh" to mean that their work "wasn't" done yet. Come to think of it, that look on Pony's face doesn't seem to be too happy. Wouldn't Pony have "whinnied" if he had agreed with Ben? Shoot, maybe Pony DID get sent to the glue factory!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoY37v3njvs

p.s. The story about Pony being sent to the glue factory may have been a rumor that started at one of Torley's office hours in February of 2008:

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Torley_Linden/Office_Hours/2008-02-28

It seems Torley was making a joke about the glue factory and, instead, stated that Pony Linden retired (citing the same video above as proof). That still leaves us with the mystery of Magellan's absence though. S.J.

Duly noted.

For those that do give a crap, and want to do something about it before the crap hits the fan, this thread is for you!

To help with visual identification, here is the best photo I was able to take of Magellan from Nova Albion's 2nd Anniversary celebration back in 2006.

A little bit of background.

Magellan Linden was *massive* inspiration to me... so much so, that a young Desmond moved his humble, original 512m from Portage to Columbia, right next to Magellan's crash site.

Prokofy at the time was trying to consolidate in Portage; my use of my 512m at the time was simply for design and quiet reflection. Nobody bothered me 700m over Portage; it was desolate and on the far edge of the mainland back in early 2005.

So when asked if I would move, I said sure - and asked for a spot right next to Magellan's downed craft - Prok had land there. I was sure Magellan's story wasn't over. And I'm still sure now.

Months passed - no Magellan - but, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

My tale has long moved on - but Magellan is well remembered, and I don't doubt we'll get word of his adventures on some new, lost continent. His early pioneering example was great inspiration for Caledon's own Victorian Expeditions to the mainland and various far-flung continents.

The moment any word of him appears, the entire Caledon Navy will be set forth to stage rescue, or whatever might be appropriate for the situation. Though I suspect, much like Indiana Jones or Captain Nemo, he may end up rescuing all of us...

I think the trouble with Bodega was probably caused by that area of geothermal activity in the bay. It is not a LOT worse than it used to be, but over time the amount of steam and lava has increased. It sets Art's Shark of Peace and Love a bit on edge. He circles neurotically now, and seems to have clenched teeth - almost like he hears something. Or maybe it's vibrations.

Anyway, I wouldn't worry too much about Pony. She seemed very happy in her marriage last time I saw her.

The ducks never really get in a row, there, Mari, and the turkeys seem to disappear with regularity, but the rest of the Bodega birds behave admirably. I'm sure they'd have strange behaviour if they sensed anything odd about to happen.

Big Grey Map

Am I alone, or are others experiencing this problem.

Right at this moment I'm bobbing about 'somewhere' in the inland waters of the 'Old Continent'. I say 'somewhere' because every time I call up my map it turns grey, all I see are green avi dots and sim names (and land for sale signs $ if I've got that enabled). It's been doing this ever since I downloaded the latest client version.

Now normally this would not be a huge problem..but recently I've been doing a lot of sailing/boating for the purpose of creating a set of navigational maps for each continent..kind of difficult when you can't actually see where you're going.

So if you own waterfront property in the Old Continent and you see me cruise by..point me in the right direction..because right now I have no idea where I am or where I'm going.

Perre..

Try a mild laxative, Racal. And a warm bath, you poor dear - all that bunged up pizza and cola seems to be flooding the hole where your brain is.

That would be a magnificent sight... especially if the tiny rapid response force lead the flotilla!

I agree. An I'm glad t' help on th' search. I might even be able to put some feelers out to the Goonies an the urchins of New Babbage. I know they travel along some interesting backroads sometimes.

Worth keepin' an eye on em, I s'pose. They all seemed fine on my Sunday morning sail though yes, that shark does seem a bit on edge. I dun tink my Flying Tako is ready to be press ganged into service for Caledon, though!

Perhaps JS Tomorrow knows more than he is telling?

I followed JS' adventures when they first became known several months ago - I managed to contact her a few times and even found the small camp (http://headburroantfarm.wordpress.com/?s=involvium&x=0&y=0) but after a couple of visits in which I met no one the whole thing vanished. No trace of them. Not a word from JS. It is as if they never existed.

I know they were looking into a new power source that would use the unique thought-creation-energy of this world to power a new future for all. In my book that makes the list of people who'd be glad to see them vanish rather long.

Has anyone else heard of any other explorers who have gone missing? I'm beginning to get worried you know...
