Don't worry about it. If you don't like the flavor, you can always trade it at lunch for someone's PBJ sandwich.
Complete with salmonella?

(they pulled all the peanut-butter-based candies from the snack machines at work)

Count yourself lucky if you make enough to have your taxes go up under Obama. I make less that half that amount. Even unlicensed plumbers named Joe don't come close.

Oh, he wasn't just talking about income taxes. Excise taxes of all types will go through the roof, especially on energy. Then we have the inflation tax, the natural follow up of dumping piles of worthless money into the economy and calling it stimulus. Just think, by the end of the year we may be in the same shape as the Weimar Republic or modern day Rhodesia. All brought to you by Hope and Change! Yes We Can! (and will make things even worse.)

In part, yes.

He was a member of The Senate. His hands are just as dirty as all the rest of them.

I'm still going to stay cautiously optimistic that a new administration will improve things after the past few years.

As opposed to spending, spending, spending, spending, and not actually generating any incoming revenue to take care of the money being spent? People love to complain that Democrats are the "tax and spend party." You bet they are. Because you can't spend the money without the tax revenue to cover it, or you're simply bankrupting the country.

It's interesting to watch everyone hail the hero before he's had a chance to prove himself.
(although, considering his current stance and the team he assembled, it's hard to imagine he'll do worse than Bush.)

Looking from the outside in, I'm also caught up in the hype. What fun. Perhaps people NEED to celebrate this event, which seems to be giving a lot of people (Well, not Chris) a lot of hope and a bit of much-needed confidence in the future. If that's the case, he's already doing better than Bush :)

The tax thing's going to shake out. It always does. The cut for the rich folks was supposed to have been a temporary thing and it's quite rightly removed.
Some other countries (Sweden, Germany, Japan etc) are paying a great deal more taxes than the US (or Canada for that matter) and people are enjoying a higher standard of living because of it. Unfortunately, the red team has turned that into a monster under the bed by calling it 'socialism'. Up here we call it free health care :)

Anyway, I'll be watching as much of it as I can. I enjoy hearing a smart man make speeches for a change. The media coverage I'll skip although I might tune into Fox to see what sort of hysteria they'll come up with. Always good for a laugh.

I'm about 45 minutes from D.C. and traffic over the weekend has been crazy. All of the hotels are full as well. The schools were supposed to be closed on Friday the 16th for a professional day but they moved it to tomorrow in most counties around here. We teachers however have to report for professional duties. I have a TV in my classroom and I'll most likely watch from there while working on grades.

But then he would have had to vote another way besides "present".

You know...what's past it past.

Campaigning is over, the votes have been cast and tallied.

Let's just move ahead.

As you know, you go to inaugurations with the candidate you have, not the candidate you might want or wish to have at a later time.

If I could be assured that something would go wrong with the radio signals and the chips buried in the brains of all the government officials, media and entertainment bigwigs would all explode at once, then I might watch. But instead I think I will wander to the cattle pasture that is down from my house and watch the bull defecate. Won't be much difference at all from the speeches and reporting.

I think I'll join Chris. I'm staying home, but the TV won't be on, and I'll be wearing black.

Oh, I would cut the Federal budget by 90%. Simply refuse to spend money on anything that is not Constitutional. If it isn't covered by one of the 8 delegated powers given Congress, then no money. Solves that problem real quick. Then we have a massive sell off of all illegally owned Federal lands.....yes the Feds are limited as to why they can own land, mostly post offices and military posts. Use that money to pay back every one who was forced into the Ponzi scheme known as Social Security.

That.

Every single one of them are to blame - Democrat and Republican, both.

I am glad for the general uplift in overall feeling he seems to be giving most of the country. I personally am both happy and not. We need someone different in charge, but what we really need is a complete overhaul of the system and the people that have been entrenched in it forever.

I'll probably just wait and read the speeches that I'm interested in so that I can ensure that I miss all of the media crap that goes with it.

Actually, while I will support my President in many ways simply because he is my President, I will also continue to exercise my right to voice my opinions, good and bad, about all people in our government. That is part of what makes America what it is.

A friend's husband has a triple-aneurysm(one on the aortic artery, two lower down), diagnosed 2 weeks ago.

He isn't scheduled for surgery until the 23d of February. Long waits happen in the US too.

Needless to say, they are on pins and needles, praying none of them burst.

Absolutely!

It's the hyperbole that gets me down. And the rehashing of campaign arguments.

Tomorrow, something even two years ago I wouldn't have bet any serious money on happening, is going to happen. Tomorrow is about history in the making. Whatever one's political ideology might be, tomorrow is a winning blow in the fight against racial barriers in American society.

I wish I could be in DC to witness it, but I'll settle for FB, television and Twitter.
