For the record, so it is part of this thread, today the SL5B staff contacted me and reversed their earlier decision that I could not display a pic of myself and my SL daughter in the same image, even though we were both fully clothed and not even touching each other. I was asked to restore the picture that had previously been prohibited, and when I asked to place a second pic of the two of us, they looked at it and agreed it could be posted as well.

Well that was very generous of them. How... gracious, to grudgingly give you permission after examination to post an innocent picture in a "resident-run" event.

I hope this sort of madcap libertarianism does not backfire on them.

So we can probably expect to soon see a blog post from Everett Linden detailing how no images were ever rejected, and explaining how the applications for some were merely delayed a bit.

Lol Yup. But I'd be willing to let everyone save face as long as everyone is willing to learn from their mistakes...

You've GOTTA be kidding.
"...we want to spend a little time clarifying in order to clear up some of the confusion around the submission process and policy".
Ok, he is strictly speaking not outright lying (this time). I'm just not sure it's the *residents* who needs clearing up.
Seriously, is there a way to officially deliver a "vote of no confidence" to LL? This man is dangerous for the stability of, and belief in, the platform.

Wow. And they nuked my four word comment, too. That surprised me.

Should be fairly obvious if you check the blog now. Currently no need to repost. I actually hope nobody answers the question posed by #5 "who is Stephen Venkman", forcing either the Lindens to answer, or people to go search for the full story. Google certainly provides plenty of reading material using those keywords.

Ah, yes. I momentarily lapsed on the name.

You know what all this "what we actually meant" spin reminds me of?

George Orwell. Big Brother. Ministry of Truth.

You know, I had intended to avoid the entire Linden-fubar'd SL5B, but I may just have changed my mind.

I'm strongly considering going just so I can wear a sign above my head that says something like:

"Rated 'E'verett for Nobody"

Or make a cup of "Linden Kool-Aid" that can give out copies of itself, that contains a notecard with Everett's "submissions from child avatars will be declined" and his "well, we really meant" stuff from this blog post. And so on.

"You're F*&*$ing S&@!#ing me!" was so far out of character that they assumed it was an imposter.

@25
Hi, Abigail, I guess you misunderstood. Allow me to clarify.
There never was any ban on a specific type or group of avatar.
There was a request to keep things PG.
Full stop.

I can suggest some appropriate words, Winter:

Linden. Hypocrisy. Spin. Katt.

They go so naturally together, don't they?

It was "respectfully declined" that did it for me.

That phrase is loaded with contempt, smug judgementalism, and disrespect.

Yeah. The way when someone says "With all due respect..." you know that what follows is going to be disrespectful.

Well. Neither the original condescending refusal, nor the revisionist "correction" really tick me off, you know?

Why?

To paraphrase a line from one of my favorite actors:

You know what E. Linden is saying right now? "Damn kid avs ain't messin up MY event". Know where he's saying it? Out in front of Mari's SL5B build.

That's why.

*blinking innocently*
