Kids5B also has the advantage that it's actually possible to walk around. :)

I c'n tell ya why, too. The organizers spended a lot of time walking the two sims and metering how bad lag was here and there, and paring stuff down to limit it as much as possible. There were a lot of group notices that went up about lag issues on the Kids5B list prior to the event. :-)

...Okay, enough gushin' from me. It's jes so so cool to see all dis happen!
Oh no you don't... Ain't enough been said yet. Out of all this mess, the SL Kid community has finally had the chance to put our best face forward and let people see the "invisible truth" about child avatars. You missed when we were picking up a copy of the birthday bear. There was a couple of people there on voice chat saying "So those are kid avatars... It's amazing how small they are... Look! they're so cute!" (^_^)

I've now been the "first kid ever seen" for about a dozen people this week, and the reaction has been very positive the whole time. Okay, one was annoyed by my smilies, but that's not a kid avatar thing anywayz. (=_=)

To me it looks like we've had our chance to stand up, stand out, and really show that we are here to stay. The booths I've seen so far go to prove that we are so much more than a source of bad press. I really want to thank and congratulate each and every Child Avatar contributor to SL5B and Kids5B and say that it feels good to be a kid! \(^_^)/

I hope to be a contributor myself next year. (^_^)y

Yay child avatars! giggle giggle

Went to see everything in the slb exhibit last night - even got transformed!

Only being in world a month I can honestly say that it was one of the most fun places I have been so far and the kids were adorably welcoming! I felt like I was at Disney World!

Thank you so much Marianne and friends for sharing a little bit of your very special world with us all. I encourage everyone to go, explore, and let yourself be a kid too - you might be surprised how much fun you can have!

Go kids! :)

Me goin' shoppin for lil gurly stuff!

Dat transmogrifier is gettin a lotta good use. Glad you had fun there!

I should say dat I'm only one of a lotta kids who put Kids5B together, too. My contribution is actually sorta small as far as actual building goes. This is a good thing too, IMO, cuz the collective work of all involved managed to pull together sometign pretty darn cool.

Plus, I now have an "Anti Boogerhead Squad" T-shirt, so how cool is dat?

Mari
(Who also has an official SL5B "SL Kids" lanyard badge - who ever saw dat comin?)

It's in the transmogrifier, in one of the freebie boxes. Two variations, even.

Good to see ya here, Misses Spengler. Yer daughter did such a super job on Kids5B stuff!

I spent a bunch time this mornin' roller-skating around the SL5B sims in my Kitsine Kid form - a child-sized three-tailed red fox anthro. I was wearing a Kids5B shirt, and got nothing but positive responses from those I met.

Also did a lot of skating in the Kids5B sims, an had lotsa fun playing with other SL kids and cheering on adults who were brave enough to try the transmorgafier.

Birthday bear? Where? At the Linden exhibit somewhere?

At Kids5B, We showcase all dat's kids in SL. All sorts of different groups came together in ways they haven't before. The two regions are diverse an rich, an jes have so so so much to 'em. An ya, the transmogrifier, which almost did't happen, is a big, big hit.

With your help, Mari, Storm & I found the transmogrifier! It is AWESOME!!!!! Watching the video first was such fun.

I went in first and came out this really cute little girl (will have to show ya, Mari!) Then Storm went in, chose Boy 1 (I think) and came out as a Plate of Cookies and Milk AV! I laughed til I cried. He went back in and came out as a kid this time.

The kid who built the transmogrifier came by and asked us how we liked it, if it worked ok, etc. Turns out, his was the voice on the video, so it was fun to meet him.

An interesting thing I discovered in my evening of being a child AV - kids seem to speak to each other more. Within a few minutes there was a whole little group of us talking. (I rarely see that in a gathering of adult AVs that don't already know each other and/or aren't in a club, etc.). I asked where something was - one kid said "Follow me" and we looked like a bunch of neighborhood kids all running to the place. (Well I was on a scooter.)

Also ran into a forum regular who was in kid form too!

Can't wait to go back tonight!!

Great, yet another round of witch hunts comming our way, every kid hater reading this (and you can bet that most will read this because they do seek for things to use against us) will no doubt twist it around to meaning LL has outlawed being a child in SL.

I don't mind the child avatars, but I do mind that most of the ones I've run into beg me for money and then get nasty when I won't give them anything.

I got called a pedophile by someone because I refused to give a child avatar anything. How does that even make sense?

But I think a birthday party should allow kids.

*waves at Czari*

All very true! I had a blast going all over the place and barely scratched the surface. Took a few pics for my Snapzilla page (below) but I could have taken many, many more. I hope to get back at least once before the whole thing is over.

(Picking a current SL5B thread at random here)

During Robin's Office Hour this morning, she clarified that the "very important announcement" that Everett mentioned in his June 3 blog post should not be confused with a "big announcement."

Confirmation for those speculating from the very beginning that the announcement will be underwhelming. Not necessarily a bad thing.

What? Robin is having to spin something Everett said? Should we expect a new announcement that announces that the announcing of the prior announcement was never announced?

I'd call that a good thing, in fact. Most announcements 'round here send me scrambling.

"There seem to be some mininformed rumors going around about one of the events occuring during the fifth birthday, and we wish to clarify matters. We never suggested that we would only allow a big announcement to be presented. On the contrary, we have always been welcoming to smaller announcements."
