I'll have an original recipe Coca Cola™, thank you. By original recipe, I mean the recipe circa 1886.

Everett Linden just does not like kid avs. If you don't believe that, put on a kid av, find him somewhere on the grid, and ask for his Linden bear. Go ahead - try it and see what happens.
From: someone

Perhaps he just doesn't like the recent press trying to tie in Secondlife to paedophiles and the selling of child prostitutes.

Unfortunately by trying to 'sweep' them under the rug it gives more fuel to the lies in a manner of "wow, they can't even do a pg rated exibit on being a child avatar.... so it is all about sex and stuff"

Best solution is education, not trying to hide it or pretend it don't exist.

Oh I am all for that, and I think this entire situation is laughably spiralling out of control. K let's take a closer look at the idea of educating the general public on roleplaying in a multi-verse. I may be the only one, but when I even speak of things like inworld marriages people stop and think i am crazy. I actually did a lecture on a project i did inworld last year, fairly high profile in the real world context. Anyway the lecture was for the design department of NSCAD University here in Canada. Could I even get past the stereotypes and misconceptions people had regarding Secondlife? Nope, they didn't even really ask about the power of using this as a design tool or an educational tool. They got hung up on the simple context of why would somebody want to buy virtual land and have a virtual home.

I would think this maybe similar. The general public will sexualize things, thay are pretty much programmed to do so by now. So that is expected. But if one can't even get the simple benefits to having a 2nd life across to a board of professional designers, it may be a challenge to get the general public to understand role playing, in my opinion.

Quickly, chap, please explain what that was, so as to remove the image I have of something resembling carbonated urine.

And the Lindens who really like kid avs and help us out, do they not dislike the recent press at least as much as Everett does?

That's marginally more reassuring.

So in effect, 7Up Gold was the same as 7Up, with the secret ingredient being a pinch of crushed insect?

That's pretty much it. Was a color change, not a single other difference. Product was advertized for about 2 months, I think. Couldn'ta been much more than that. It disappeared quick.

Actually, it had a slightly spiciness to the flavor, sorta like 7Up with a dash of nutmeg or someting.

Point taken. But didja know what I was talkin' about? Have you ever had one? They're really quite good.

More to the topic:

This "game" is called "Second Life." That implies a certain level of, well, living a secondary existence. This should be a selling point, this ability to recreate yourself in an image to which you prefer. And I think this was part of the intent to begin with. I mean, compare Mark Hamill, I mean Philip Rosedale to his Avatar, Philip Linden.

That Second Life is moving away from this and trying to be a "legitimate" tool is pretty clear. Nevertheless, SL should be big enough to have both, just like the web is big enough to have eBay, Amazon.com, a bajillion sites for universities, and yet also have Tron Guy, Peter Pan, Kelly, Chocolate Rain, and the woman with a whole lotta sweaters.

7up Gold was launched around 1988 as a more spicey variant to the Original 7up (ginger ale kinda tasting) Speaking of Dr Pepper, 7up gold WAS an unused Dr Pepper invention :)

/me will have to send you guys some pics in world of my MASSIVE soda collection. Its quite scary :)

But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

Few years ago there was a soda called Surge. It came in a dark green bottle and I figured it was greenish; but one day I poured some into a paper cup and discovered it looked suspiciously like antifreeze.

Surge wasn't much to look at, but it was great for staying up all night. The soda that they need to bring back is the grape Mountain Dew that they tried a few years ago.

Mountain Dew Pitch Black & Pitch Black II

Speaking of Surge, a group i am involved with helped resurrect Surge as "Vault" which is nearly identical to the original surge formula. If we want 100% perfect Surge visit Norway, its sold under the brand name "Urge"

I am seriously addicted to Diet Coke with Cherry.

Interesting observation - if you drink more than 2 litres in a day, your tongue goes all funny around the edges and it feels like you are continually biting it.

I got addicted for a time to AMPs... and the red alerts.

Wish I could get Jolt cola without having to order it through the mail...

That's a very good way to put it, and now I know why we still haven't seen the promised blog entry...

...the Lindens are still waiting for their shipment of Lie-agra to come in to firm up their flaccid reasoning.

Okay, I'm gonna do a bit of crowing. I'm jes so excited, though, dat it's hard not to talk about it.

A couple weeks ago (May 30th or so) it looked like us kids were gonna be banned - sorry, respectfully declined - from SL5B. That is to say, we would be able to attend, but not actively participate as content creators. After some time of things settling down, it almost looked like the worst of May 2007 all over again.

The kid community, who aren't necessarily known for getting all mobilized, did jes dat. Within a week, Kids5B was laying its prim groundwork. Meanwhile, the "decline" was overturned (or did't exist, or whatever the euphemism is now) and Loki and I were accepted back into SL5B. SO were some other kids and stuff. There were still bumps in the road -- the "what can you show in a simple piccie" issue -- but us kids and about a bajillion other avvies who supported us did't let nuttin stand in th' way.

I've gotten a lot of amazing feedback over the last couple about my little photo display, and Loki Eliot's "Childhood Dreams" story is just jaw-dropping. Everyone else who did a kid-related build (and I'm looking at Ceera, Winter, and a few others when I say it) did some amazing work.

At Kids5B, We showcase all dat's kids in SL. All sorts of different groups came together in ways they haven't before. The two regions are diverse an rich, an jes have so so so much to 'em. An ya, the transmogrifier, which almost did't happen, is a big, big hit.

Reading in that other thread that Kids5B and Loki an my builds helped inspire a new SL member? I'm so grinnin' about dat.

On the Second Life Children blog, I also mentioned dat Teagan Linden came to Kids5B th' other night. In the cutest chibi kid avvie. She was a little reluctant to go at first, for fear dat us kids would roast her alive after all dat happened. Instead, us kids all hadda stop an take tons of piccies with her. Teagan's comment about Kids5B an stuff? "Kids are awesome :)"

If SL5B did anyting for us kids, it brought us all together like never before, and allowed a lot of us to show everyone what we are an what we can do. A far cry from bein' all hid away, f'r sure.

Okay, enough gushin' from me. It's jes so so cool to see all dis happen!
