Chris must be Hax's alt.
And if not, there's still no difference in the attitude.

What you mean the attitude that private property is a basic human right?
You mean the attitude that the individual is more important than society?
Or do you mean the attitude of "Mind your own business"?

Doesn't change the fact that Chris is right.

It's not fact. It's opinion.
Chris: "It isn't your land, so it doesn't really matter if you agree with the justification or not."

Which logically must mean that you both think that Hax is right.
Hax is a sociopath.
It's his land, so .....

Hax neither broke my leg nor took money from my pocket. And yes, I have had some of his plots bordering mine at one time. What he did on his land was his business. I screened him out from my land, I banned him from my land and I promptly forgot him.

Yeah, and as far as what anyone does with their land, your opinion doesn't count. I'm all for being neighborly and there being some measure of community standards, but not to the point where people are unable to exclude whoever the hell they want. Even assuming that LL took away the ugly ban lines, some people still wouldn't be satisfied with that. Well too damn bad - buy the plot or mind your own business.

"Your land, your rules."

Requires an option for adjacent landowners to block out, one way or another, neighbors' land use that is visible or audible and offensive to them. Whatever reason they think it is offensive.

I know Chris is very passionate about SL land rights, but comparing him to Hax is a bit of an exaggeration, don't you think?

As for the suspensions, they make me feel all warm and happy inside. I took a walk around Hanson yesterday, trying out my new avatar and the vast majority of the adfarms were gone. Land has been snapped up, consolidated, and people are beginning to build on it. It's like a rebirth of the Mainland. I think this will go down as a very positive move by LL.

Thank you. We're back on track AGAIN.

I have been enjoying my random flights around the mainland and am enjoying how quickly the landscape is changing. Much quicker than I had expected. I wish I knew what LL was saying to the Ad Farmers. Obviously they're letting them know they mean business.

Sadly not sure how much that will inconvenience that person as that account is 'no payment info on file' so I assume is most probably just an alt?

Check out Sedge 200, 218... if you want to see a prime example of how low some will stoop to keep playing the extortion game in spite of the new rules.

While on my way there, I came across one of the most infamous landgriefers in all of SL.

Yes. I'm talking about Governor Linden!!! :)

Sedge 252,120,78
An abandoned 16m roadside plot - with ban lines up.
The Gov has a lot of this sort of griefey land about.

The next time I meet her I shall say "Harrumph!" very loudly.

When land is abandoned, the gov impliments a 5 min autoreturn. When anyone else buys, sells or trades land, the access permissions are reset.

Why can't they do that on abandoned land?

Yup!
R.M. has a long 4m wide ransom strip separating the Linden road from the parcels beyond.
423 sq.m. at L$100/m
It's empty, so no problem??

Big ugly visual griefing problem from the ban lines!!

This is a prime example of a special case where access restrictions (using ban lines or not) should be treated as abuse by LL.

/me wonders if he entrapped the V***land bot with a low price for the internal plots??

They should also turn off build for all by default. I've seen some reclaimed ad plots with dirty big plywood cubes hanging over them - and autoreturn set at 0.

To make matters worse, their alt has a sign at the top of the hill and if you are on their shit list, it spams you every 15 seconds with a teleport home dialog accompanied by a threatening message. You cannot do anything except continue clicking ok and teleporting away.

Its a beligerent case of exploiting LSL sensor to spam a person and causing "denial of service", because the avatar cannot function, even on their own land. All they need to be is within 96m. It even spams across regions.

LL have removed them dozens of times, yet they keep putting them out again and never get warned or banned.

Screening pine trees are an eyesore? They fit in with how I had the rest of the property landscaped. As for banning him from my plot, banning is not visual griefing.

You Nina are/were hanging signs which are just as much of an eyesore as anything I have seen in SL. It is your right to do it, But like I said before, it is somewhat hypocritical of you to complain about others creating eyesores when you make them yourself.

they are hung in response to banlines. its not as if i stick there things up at the borders then cry when somebody then puts a banline up. _that_ would be hypocracy.
as it is, if you are near one of my properties and you put up ugly banlines i will not hesitate to return the favour. and there is nothing hypocritical about that.

You are visually griefing an innocent party, sounds pretty hypocritical to me.

Please this is the problem with winning a victory; everyone wants to make it a jump stone to something else! We just won some freedom from extortion let us just sit back and celebrate as we watch to see what the final mainland landscape will look like. It will take several months to get to the final product as everyone needs to decide what they are going to do.

Banlines: Annoying but not a violation of the TOS

Ads: Annoying but not a violation of the TOS

Noobs: Annoying but not a violation of the TOS

Ugly Builds: Annoying but not a violation of the TOS

No manners: Annoying but not a violation of the TOS

There are a million things that will annoy us in both real and second life, let’s wait for this tweak to level out before we start on out next crusade, who knows someone may come up with something much more annoying before then.

Quite right. I have to admit I was pretty skeptical that this limited measure would have much effect on the problem, but at least at the moment, the improvements have been pretty breathtaking. (That doesn't quite solve my personal hell at the Temple of Adfarming: the Island scam ladies have taken their parcels off the market, so now it's just fullbright llTargetOmega'd ads spread from ground level to above the cloud layer, and another parcel is still for sale but with the ads removed, so technically they're both complying with the policy, but in combination it's still pretty much the same mess, but eventually I expect they'll tire of paying tier for land that will never sell and for ads screened by a notice warning of the very scam being advertised.)

Give it time, after watching the earthquake shake through SL, I am sure that the tremors and aftershocks are still coming. The final product will not be visible for months as I am sure the die hards will in fact take their time and let some losses mount before they too give in. I was extremely surprised at how fast U----k H-x folded up, I an equally sure he or the others will find another scam to come back with. Until then I am going to sit back with a self satisfied smirk. ;)

Come on Chris, I think the fact that you disagree with Nina on the subject is blinding you on this one. You are smart enough to see the difference between hypocrisy and a protest. What do you want her to do? March back and forth on the property line with a placard?

Tell me Bradley, would you consider her signs visual griefing if they were put up in protest of your shop?

Visual griefing is visual griefing. But since Nina isn't charging over an undetermined "reasonable" amount of money for her property it is OK?

I do think she has the right to do what ever the hell she wants with her land. But when she bitches about ad farmers while plastering her signs to hell and back, yes I call her a hypocrite.
