That is part of the ToS, it is a requirement, doesn't matter if others use fake names. It is a fact. My RL details are 1:1 associated with my avatar. Irrelevant here that LL perhaps claims a right on AV names. So, there is no really difference between the AV and RL. The one big question I raised before is if there is any protection of that "online identity" we call avatar. If LL want's to become the big corporate player in virtual worlds they certainly have to do something in this direction. But not only LL but lawmakers worldwide as this is not limited to SL. Partly that was done in form of that California Online Privacy Protection Act of 2003 which should be relevant here as the company claims to reside in California. Perhaps not the best solution, but a step in the right direction. This act requires companies to provide a clear privacy policy about the data they collect. And Bloodlines/Liquid Interactive fail to provide that. You may want to compare that to the comprehensive privacy policy of SL: http://secondlife.com/corporate/privacy.php which also resides in California and has to follow the same laws. There is a lot more about legal and ToS implications/violations of that "bloodlines game". I've summarized it on my blog and I don't really want to go into that again. Everything was said before and everybody is invited to draw own conclusions.

From: Konu Magic I am a bloodlines player and I agree with your anger. When i was a bewbie, i got bitten within the first 10 minutes of being alive in SL. I didn't know any better and accepted thinking someone was going to help me out. I have never, will i ever, try to bite someone without speaking to them first and explaining to them what it is. And to be honest, the game has gotten so out of hand that it isn't even worth playing anymore. Since I began playing, i tried to "hunt". Gave up after a little bit becuase I realized what i was being taught was exactly what was done to me.
So, I do not bite anyone nor do i even ask anymore. If someone comes to me and asks to join, I explain to them everything i have learned and let them decide. I would rather RP being a vamp on a sim than have the past actions of others playing the game i am in be held against me. Mind you, the reputation has been earned. I agree with you COMPLETELY. I am also a registered Bloodlines player and I would NEVER Spam any user with bite requests. It's just disrespectful. The Bloodlines game is getting to the point where every Tom, Dick, & Harry has either -> become a regitered player or -> has already been bitten. =/ Lately I have been seeing people in freebie sites telling noobs in open chat to decline any bite requests & I am seeing more and more "No Bloodline's" warnings wherever I go. That being said, it's so hard to even hunt anymore. I have decided to pass my souls and become destroyed. I no longer want to be a part of this pyramid scheme, where I have to bust my arse to try to get anywhere, but the people above me can reap the benefits and sit on their arses. >.< Also, stearing away from your post, I read somewhere in the thread that we prey on helpless noobs. Well the object of the game is to bite people who are fresh victims. The best fresh victims are brand new players. Is that fair to the newbies? NO! absolutely not. but I will add that the more unfair players (aka "spampires"  prey on noobs in hopes that they have no idea what's going on with them. as a registered Bloodline's player we all know that we can hold a max of 5L of vital blood & it will go down by .25L every night so we need to bite at least one fresh victim a day to stay in the game. I used to try to hunt every few days and try to get 2 or 3 people in one day... lately i am lucky if I get one a week. =/ I myself was bitten as a newbie in my first week, but I must mention that I was asked in an IM and I gladly accepted. Everything about the game was explained to me & i decided to play. Now I am just fed up. I like everyone in my clan and i will remain friends with them all, but I just don't have the time to hunt every day & it's all just not worth it to me anymore. ********Also please note that if you have been bitten by accident, take the name of the person who bit you to http://www.slbloodlines.com/ & enter it in the search bar on the top right of the page then search for the soul location or liege(aka the person just above the person who bit you) or even look for the King or Queen on the clan and file a complaint with them. Most of them are willing to make note of a spam abuse and take action... so far as I have seen.******** but adding to this statement i know alot of you are here to enjoy SL and don't want to be bothered to take time out of your happy SL lives to file a complaint. Believe me, I feel you. |
