Given that you spent time in the economic debate claiming that people opposing your view had been "drinking the Kool-Aid", I would, with all due respect, suggest physician, heal thyself.

Ah yes, the "Hypocritic" oath.

It's already been said,it won't matter where the posts fall, if people choose to be asshats, then there is no way to stop them.

As to spelling and grammar, I'm the world's laziest typist and proofreader, so I can't throw pies at anyone. People who are not English speakers have wide latitude, as do people with Illness or Disabilities. But otherwise, the all caps, run on text, chat infested posts that some put up are inexcusable. They are hard to read, and i usually don't when I see them. I skip it and move on without comment.

Do you know how long I have waited today for someone to chime in with that one?

If there was a prize, it would be yours :)

A few Lindens discreetly deposited into an Off Sim Account can never hurt. ;)

Thanks, but I'll pass. Aren't they made by sweating trolls or something?

I guess I tend to just focus on the positive, helpful things people do here instead of the negative. Since everyone is agreeing that these positive, helpful things are becoming more scarce, and I can see for myself that threads with legitimate questions are becoming rare too, I don't see really see any reason to be here.

Except for Brenda.

Make me laugh, Brenda. Fast...

I took dawg for a walk, and it's a passable approximation of early spring here, so I'm in a "let a hundred flowers bloom" mood. And somehow I'm just not seeing the crisis here.

Looking over the RA front page, it's chock full of resident questions with perfectly pleasant and helpful answers--some of the questions are from newer posters, and so are some of the answers. That's kinda how it's supposed to work, AFAIK.

It's fine with me if a General Discussion forum gets created; it's fine if it doesn't. It's fine if folks just start posting in the dread Black Thong Mistress group forum, and if they want to discuss the pros and cons of US political candidates there, or talmudic numerology, or relate those topics, that's all fine, too.

If my posts-per-day count offends, get me banned or start a new forum. Everything is permitted except what's not. This is the forum we got, moderated as it is. And the sky here is blue and sunny with little evidence of imminent collapse.

It's not that I don't care about the Forums. Quite the opposite. But, as much as I may enjoy self-flagellation both in the Forums and in-world, it really is as solitary a pleasure as any auto-erotic Society we might form or fantasize. And in my experience, the gratification wanes, in both cases.

What's wrong with that? Someone is more likely to remember the answer if they found and implemented it for themselves.

As has been suggested, frequently it's the tone. In addition, I think some forget we may have people new to forums in general. Lastly, the search is a crock IMO. I rarely find it helpful when I do a search and the headlines are all "Help", "What do I do?", "What is This?", "What do you Think?"

From: Ann Launay

I only see that happen when the post is virtually unreadable.

You're probably right. I apologize. I'll ask Kaia, Tegg and Tiana to apologize also. Apparently we're all under the same delusion. Sorry, I know that's not a valid argument. I'm just really done with this thread.

Ya know Max, that thread you referred to is a good example of my point in this thread.

The OP of the thread called, "One person With a Plan to Help" who lost money with Ginko was offering to put together the information from people who had lost Lindens$ and pursue some course of action to be reimbursed.

He is a registered user since July 2005 and only has 13 posts in the forums. As far as I remember I was the only poster supporting the belief that LL should reimburse that in L$. Then the thread basically ignored his post, apparently compelling him to make a new thread with essentially the same message, where he was immediatly berated and ridiculed.

In the meantime in the long thread I was attempting to point out that there is a massive contradiction at work here and also that the idea that LL could not print with Lindens without talking it from everyone else was a total fallacy.

I also expressed my wonderment that people (kool-aid drinkers) actually believe, LL is blameless and can't do anything about it, especially since the TOS is so contradictory. Numerous posters insist the Linden$ is real even though the TOS says it's a fiction, yet they strongly support the other parts of the TOS where LL abdicates all responsibility.

In terms of this thread, my comments defending posters who are new or new residents, or those who may be naive or not part of the cligue, or maybe have comprehension problems, now you brought up the kool-aid comment.

So to quote the immortal Ripley from Aliens, "Did IQ's drop sharply while I was away?"

Its not that trolls appear on RA, it's that Actual residents, occasionally post on a troll forum.

Or alternatively some people didn't agree with you and simply stated their opinions of the things you said in your posts.

Didn't happen like that, though. The first thread was opened at 03-28-2008, 12:10 AM; the exact same post opened another thread one minute later. The first reply to either thread was at 12:13 AM. About a half-hour later, I added an admittedly sarcastic response (/327/e8/249422/1.html#post1924472). As it happens, I stand by that response--and in this particular case, its tone.

If so, then why are you bothering to post pie questions and childish derailment attempts all over several threads here?

I can totally understand it if you don't like these forums. But if that's the case, why spend time harassing people who DO like them?

Is this your own personal campaign to get the forums closed? LL may be negligent, but they're not stupid. I truly think you are wasting your time.

And your waisting your time responding to him. I don't know what his deal is, but it's idiotic. Use ignore. It can be your best friend.

As for me: bye all.

Sorry Ray, I decided to spend this nice Spring Day outside, and took a drive into the Poconos. I owe you one.

Don't worry, I'm not going to be one of those that makes a big statement that I'm leaving and then comes back a few months later. I definitely need a break for now, just not sure for how long. :)

See you later, Bradley, except don't make it too much later, k?

And as for bringing back the old General Discussions, heck yes! I'd really like to finally get it out of archive and be able to tell 'em to remove my last post complaining about the reasons they chose to close the thing in the first place!

Don't get me wrong, I love RA. I have learned a lot from RA, but occasionally one simply wants to rant with their fellow SL users and RA isn't for that.

Tone is a matter of interpretation. If I post something like, "Search is your friend," along with a few thread links, that's ALL I mean - I'm not insinuating anything about the poster and I really wish people would stop suggesting that such simple statement is somehow rude. In any case, I'm talking about things on the first few pages...they just don't take that long to skim, and I do get a little cranky when an OP revisits a topic which still has an answer on the first or second page. Also, in my experience, people who have never been on any sort of forum tend to be the exception, rather than the rule.

Dude, I didn't say anyone was wrong, just that *I've* only seen snarky remarks when the posts were all but impossible to read. Maybe I DO have my rose-colored glasses on, but I believe I'm entitled to my own point of view, just like everyone else.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.
