From: Sindy Tsure Why on earth would you be creeped out? I could see that if they were in an adult place but that's illegal and most people who have kid avatars have no interest in that stuff anyway.
Do you also get creeped out by nekos and furries? Adult as in rating alone no. (you can have a family home in adult land) Adult as in theres sex going on sex toys out etc- yes.

From: Whimsycallie Pegler Did I come off higher then thou? If so I must have been responding to the tone of the original post.
Also you didn't say infants avatars. You specifically said child. I have no experience with infant avs. I don't know what they are recreating. I hadn't really tried to look at SL from an infant aspect. It is not an interest of mine. You are correct I didnt say infant avatars. I used the term infantilism see below for meaning. in⋅fan⋅ti⋅lism [in-fuhn-tl-iz-uhm, -tahy-liz-, in-fan-tl-iz-uh –noun the persistence in an adult of markedly childish anatomical, physiological, or psychological characteristics. ie-child avatars

I haven't met many child avs, I admit, but the ones I do know personally are well-behaved, cool to talk to, and enjoy just having good innocent fun. None of them has ever done or said anything to make me think of them as 'creepy.' I don't quite see what's creepy about them-- but then, I'm a hybrid who has horns, and I'm sure someone somewhere would find that creepy as well. Hi, Jig! The more I read of your posts, the more I think I like you. /me waits patiently for Mari to get here... Oh yeah, and IBTL.

From: Joshooah Lovenkraft Hey Special .. looks like you're relatively new to the forums but this topic has been discussed to death in the past, hence the negative responses you're getting. People tend to feel ambivalent about child avs or have strong visceral reactions to them. You can probably find quite a few threads discussing this topic ad nauseum here: /invalid_link.html This wiki article might also shed some light on why some folks choose to portray themselves with child avatars and various LL policies regarding their usage. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Child_AvatarI'd lay odds she isn't as new as we might think. The average noob doesn't drop a bomb like this as their first post unless they have a planned agenda.............ask Scylla...

From: Whimsycallie Pegler It means In Before The Lock.. the meaning is that this subject will degenerate until the thread needs to be locked. One thing I learned was what IBLT means. I never knew that. I thought it was another form of laugh like lolz or rofle.

Wow, creeped out by kid avies in only one week of SL. I think it took at least 6 months before I ever saw one. A year before I ever saw a family. Not that I am implying anything, but I definately agree with Chris on this one.

I don't understand why people are so scared of child AVs, I would be far more worried about the furries myself...

From: Special Kamala Well excuse me for breathing your royal highness but I presumed that I lived in a free world with free speech silly me Free speech doesn't excuse ignoring the basic cultural standards. Forums in general, not just SL, have a common expectation of using search before starting new threads. Usually people are more polite when pointing that out, but this particular subject is such a hot issue that it's not surprising that people react the way they have so far. Don't take it personally, but please do look up the older threads. I'd be surprised if there was anything to say that hasn't already been said.

From: Brenda Connolly I'd lay odds she isn't as new as we might think. The average noob doesn't drop a bomb like this as their first post unless they have a planned agenda.............ask Scylla... Oh I'm not so naive to not think this might be an alt but on the odd chance that it might not, I figure I might as well try to answer the question. My first post in the forums did not go over very well either and I was accused of having an "agenda" so I try to presume innocence most of the time. I think sometimes people forget what it's like to be new to SL. Furries, child avs and flying penii are all old hat to us, but it's all part of the curiosities and glorious first time experience for newbies ^^

Was I really that impolite? I was a bit short on commenting about the search feature, but I answered the question. I also didn't launch in to any personal attack. I thought I was a bit snappish, but certainly not too awful.
