SecondCitizen was re-born about a month ago as SecondCitizen MKII.* There are already lots of great people there and plenty of room for more.* Whatever your reasons, we'll all be happy to see you there.* Just be sure to stop by Ellis Island first, say hello and receive your welcome pokin's, and the mods will be along shortly to open the doors for ya.* SC MKII like it's previous incarnation is for the most part unmoderated, but be sure to check out the rules anyway, there aren't that many :)

Hope to see you soon!

The whole thing looks like someone got a new website building toy and decided to play around with it. They don't need the top participants or the recent activity columns. I don't think they even need that popular tag cloud. The commerce forum index column is important but it looks just like the rest of the random junk on the screen.

It's too bad about the Xstreeters. It looks like they're the guinea pigs for this little forum experiment. I'm guessing that new forum will either get shaped into something more useful and friendly or it will explode and LL will abandon it.

Or, LL will ignore the problems, turn the lights off here, and force everyone to use something that is far less than half-baked.

that is where we are spose to end up..
i keep wondering if they forgot these or if they are just gonna flip the switch on us..
they haven't said much about these forums lately since they started talking about the move with xstreet forums..
heck i thought they were gonna flip the switch here today..
i was like..if they don't give warning that would be so wrong on so many levels..

I think the xstreet form change is the test bunnie before they shut these ones down and move it all to the new blog format

Just posted this the to the new Commerce Forum, pointing displaced Xstreeters to the completely empty "Sellers Guild" group section of this forum. *snickers*

Better Place for an XStreet General Discussion Forum?

/321/1.html

Yes, it's old. Yes, it's clunky. Yes, you have to login separately from the blogs. But it's real forum software, it's an empty subforum that you can use, and your posts will be seen and responded to by all SL Forum users who use the New Posts button.

Who's going to be the first to use the "New Thread" button?

I just posted there---partly to find out where it is.

But the path starts out 'SL Forums > Group Life', and that stopped me--where would I find 'Group Life' from the main Forums page?

Oh jesus, what a mess. Why couldn't they just have implemented vBulletin or something similar, that everybody knows and loves?

Did anyone suggest "borums" as a name for SL's blog-forums? (pronounced "bore-ums";)

why didn't they just make everyone come here. I don't see the problem. Except I'm sure they anticipate some headbutting based on personalities, and the different dynamics of the two forums.

Can't we just go over and trash Torley in the new "forums" and get them shut down? It worked before.

LOL that's bad. How about you go over and welcome them all over here with open arms. Maybe LL will decide that this forum is better.

Ain't happenin'. LL has already decided what is better for us as they always have. That piece of garbage websiteblogthingie iis it. Some knucklehead made it his prize project and isn't going to go back on it now.

That s gonna be a train wreck if that happens. People don't seem to like to hear the truth of the matter. There are people in both sets of forums that seem to want to dominate topics. Insulting, belittling, doing what they can to make people feel bad or possibly not post. I personally don't care either way. But I think it takes one more person out of the mix who may have something important to say, or another view on a subject.

I think however its unhealthy as a community to allow it. I'm frankly surprised after starting to post here in the SL forums that more people don't speak up and call people on their conduct. Seems as in most forums, there are cliques. The train wreck that will come about between personalities will hopefully bring some bannings with them. I for one would like to see people be able to express their opinions on topics without being jumped on by people who just lurk in the forums to attack someone. That is the nature of forums it seems though.

They let this forum sit languishing and unimproved for over 2 years. They don't want it. They don't want an open place of discussion where we can say what is on our minds, it isn't a predictable enough experience.

They are, even in their outdated form. Butt LL doesn't care about that. The baordroom has spoken. We are unimportant.

Yes, I agree with all that. Forums need attention from real monitors, but monitors who also know how to stand back and let things happen.

We do tend to gang up on jerks, I think, but none of us have any teeth really. Just force of personality, if that.

Blondin did say yesterday that next Wednesday he and Taka Linden would be having a special office hour on "what communication tools would best enhance SL". 10 am SLT, location TBD and posted in Blondin's profile.

I'm tempted to go and say "working forums", but I doubt it would have any effect.

And again, LL ignored us as we asked them several times for some moderation. I know people will bristle at the mention of his name, but things were kept to a low boil when Strie was here modeerating. They dumped him and gave us the usual garbage about wanting to hear our thoughts and suggestions, put out the call for new ResMods then we heard nothing. Instead they gave us Kat, a Communications Manager who couldn't communicate who brought along the quaint topic of "disemvoweling " posts.

They finally sacked her, and gave us another bullsgit story about a "New Forum" with outside moderators. Again, it was talk to the hand time. In that interim all we had was Millie, really couldn't do an effective job by herself. Nope, a forum is not in line with the corporate culture at LL anymore. It would have to be so severely moderated that it would not be worth visiting. And I don't think LL could even do that right if they wanted to.

I already tried that! https://blogs.secondlife.com/message/10410#10410

I did so tongue-in-cheek, but it is pitiful that after much talk LL put up a new XStreet area that is less usable than this antique software .

However, it does no good to make that point here. If you want to be heard, start a thread over there, or contribute to one of the many complaining threads. I did: https://blogs.secondlife.com/thread/2156?tstart=0
