Oh, hey, Lord S. Did you see this?

you may advertise or promote your own products and services for Second Life, your stores within Second Life, and your Xstreet SL marketplace listings, provided that you do not advertise or promote any sale, purchase, or trade outside a Linden Lab property (such as Second Life or the Xstreet SL marketplace), and YOU DO NOT LINK TO WEBSITES THAT INCLUDE OFFERS TO TRADE, SELL, OR PURCHASE OUTSIDE A LINDEN LAB PROPERTY.

Wow, That's pretty petty. I would never have expected even LL to take such a draconian stance on free trade and commerce. LL truly is trying to crush any last bits of good will the community had for them.

LMAO I saw that.. They are posting mad..

But why? Who the hell is going to find what they are posting?

Kalor you are right shame may not be the correct word but I was trying to behave myself on LL turf.. lol

Not sure, but if post count ever becomes THAT important to me, please, please just shoot me in the back of the head. Quick and clean please. ;)

Yeah, that was going to be my response, too.

The effect of what I believe are deliberate attempts to discourage 'community' among Residents will be a windfall for SL sites that have no business connection with LL, certainly. Any such site running good a forum-platform will see a mass migration to its pages.

It will be interesting to how see the XStreetSL forum folks react to the Blogrums® (my new term).

They've been some of LL's most ardent supporters thick and thin. I can't imagine that same level of enthusiasm staying for long.

This is once again a style over substance issue that feels like it was dictated top down. I can understand them NOT liking the design look of these forums but a reskin would be easier than trying to blogify everything. :(

I find myself continuing to lose interest in SL as each day goes by.

I still enjoy going in-world, so I won't be leaving SL completely. I doubt, though, I'll be visiting forums much (if at all) after they merge this forum into that one.

Guidelines are posted here:

https://blogs.secondlife.com/community/features/blog/2009/02/25/second-life-discussion-guidelines

From: Second Life Discussion Guidelines

In your signature text, you may include your business name, SLurl links to your inworld stores, links to your Xstreet SL marketplace listings, as well as links to your personal website, so long as the website does not include any offers to trade, sell, or purchase outside a Linden Lab property as described above.

This sounds...uhm..overreaching (best word I can come up that is not against TOS). I can understand not using your signature to link to a LL competitor, but to dictate what links can be on your personal website...wow.

If there was any doubt, there's been a profound culture shift at LL.

how can they even call that a "forum" ?
do they not know what it is?
From: someone

It’s easy to get the tools mixed up, but it’s important to know the differences. Quite often (usually by executives) I’m asked the difference between Forums, Blogs, and Social Networks, here’s usually how I explain it (focusing first on usage and benefits rather than technical details):

Forums are like social mixers, where everyone is at equal level, milling about and discussing with others. These many to many communication tools allow anyone to start a topic and anyone to respond to one. Members are often at equal level, and content is usually segmented by topic. (rather than by people).

Blogs are like a keynote speech where the speaker (blogger) is in control of the discussion, but allows questions and comments from the audience.
Blogs are journals often authored by one individual, and sometimes teams. In the context of business communication, these are often used to talk with the marketplace and to join the conversation that existing external bloggers may be having.

Social Networks are like topic tables at a conference luncheon. Ever been to a conference where different lunch tables had big white signs inviting people to sit and join others of like interest? It’s like that. Social networks allow members to organize around a person’s relationships or interests, rather that just focused on topic. People that know each other (or want to meet each other) will connect by a variety of common interests. These are great tools to get people of like interest to connect to each other and share information.

It’s important to know the many different tools in your tool chest as every type of accessory fulfills a different need. Before you jump to tools, you should first understand who your community is, where they are, how they use social technologies, and most importantly, what they’re talking about.

Maybe it is a "flog." A blog that vainly tries to be a forum and fails miserably.

Hey, I think flog is a good name. It is apt for what should probably happen to the people who thought it was a good idea. hehe ;)

LOL Yes I did indeed so my sig on the blogforum is to the sim where we have our in-world HQ and not to the website, which is allowed. However the site is gaining momentum and honestly the work of our merchants is far more valuable than any sig line. We also have forums that people can use and enjoy :)

We have 80+ terminals in world now and more added daily, branding all over the place in SL and a solid bunch that are promoting the site, so I am not to worried about not using a sig line there as after the adult threads and the s**t way the blog performs I doubt I will posting there much and once here close I will stick to ours and the other 3rd party forums ;)

I'm on FF 3.5 as well but still can't find the cause, looked at preferences (pretty much left them at standard settings apart from a slightly bigger font), cleared cache and cookies and whatever else came to my mind ;-)
I have had random problems with the "new" blog since it replaced the old one (random 404 errors etc). I don't think it's my computer because I've had the same things happen on 3 different computers (XP and Vista).

I think I'm not going to use that blog a lot anyway, it's just too confusing and not intuitive at all, but I was still wondering why it doesn't let me log in ;-)

After posting daily on the FLOG's everyday with the adult changes I know so many had so many issues with it, hope that you find out why you are getting the issues, sorry I cannot be of more help :)

That, and destroy chances of a competing service starting up, and - probably most alarming: render any references to the SLapt.me Wiki as against ToS.

Gotta love corporate fascism!

Ya easy lawsuit to win for someone if LL tries to ban ya for what ya have on your personal webpage.. could even take LL out totaly ... not a hard thing to do with that one.

I vote for "blogrums"... "flogging" sounds too much like fun for what those are.

Flogging is only fun if you are a sadist (or a masochist if you're on the receiving end) ;)
