From: Dennis Bertone Where do you come up with that? Camping chairs boost traffic, dwell is/was nothing. Camping chairs are not going anywhere till popular places is not based on traffic. I said there will not be as many camping chairs. The biggest and most popular places will likely keep using camping chairs to boost their traffic since it will get them listed on the most popular list. However what about the majority of the places that are no where near the top? Will the smaller establishments keep their camping chairs?

From: Nephilaine Protagonist "powerful"...what does that even mean, in relation to sl?
Yeah, it's sort of a lame word for Second Life. I don't really feel anyone has any power over me, except the Lindens themselves. Influential might have been a better word. I nominated a few people because I think it would be great to see some residents, who have done some great things, get some coverage.

As a guy, playing a guy avatar, I don't have much to say, except "the most" are two words that should be excluded from any article about any group in second life.

From: Palomma Casanova These two have been helping others since longer that I came to this game (over 2 years) I dont know if I spelling their names right. But on is Toy Lafollette and the other is Siobhan Taylor. Thanks for the nomination Palomma, but my days of having any real influence are long gone. It is a shame we don't talk much though. Come see me some time and we can catch up on old times.

From: Palomma Casanova ...Ohh... Lash Xevious... for me, she is powerful, so talented, and yet, she always answers a hello... Thanks for the mention, Palomma, those words mean a lot to me. But imho, your presence and activites in SL would make a much more interesting read. Honestly, lists like these scare me. I don't want to be in it. In the near future, it would be nice if the real-world articles would approach SL at a different angle, not the old campaign of "come here, make money." That only works for people who believe those ads on TV that claim you can make 50k from home. LL, you guys hooked me in here when I found out I could make my own things with reasonable degree of freedom. It'd be more interesting and more passionate to read an article addressing why people stay here that doesn't involve money, but the very thing SL should be about: a new community with creativity, innovation. A place not to compete (and power is about competition) but to belong. Ahem ... anyhoo, I'm kicking myself off the soapbox now.

Let's hope it stops soon.

I know sometimes the word powerful is scary... I just see the positive of powerful... because the negativity of it is UGLY as heck!! The positive is beautiful, and that is when I nominate the ones I did.

how can it be that someone can say they have been in sl for two years and dont know who baccara rhodes is?
its true tho.
maybe two years ago, a person might be able to compile a list of important personalities that most would have agreed on. those days are long gone, and there is no social structure to examine. to say that sl is a fragmented society is an understatement. one persons power player is another persons lap dog.
even voting on individuals is skewed. i received a im from someones friends list i am on telling everyone on the list to run to a certain place and vote for someone in some popularity contest or other.
oh, btw, i have been in sl for a while now, and i have never heard of 90% of the names i have read in this thread.
it all makes me tired.

That is a tough question considering you don't know how many guys are running around playing female avatars but claim to be female in real life and you don't know how many women running around as guy avatars claiming to be guys in real life.
In other words, unless you actually know the person in real life, how can you tell? Don't tell me attitude or personality either because not all women are dainty and delicate and often males in real life that play female chars pass off the dainty and delicate so well that if you asked someone to judge two female avatars on which one would be the female in real life, they'd pick the real life male putting on an act.
Powerful female Avie's (I don't know if they are male or female in real life)
Draconic Lionheart. She has helped build and manage one of the most (IMO) detailed RPG communities that doesn't revolve around romance. I was getting bored with cookie cutter designes so was thrilled with her work in Crimson Falls.
Trinity Cole. A female avie but don't know her in real life so not sure if she's female or not. She has power but she acts nice and she has the only club in the game that I like and doesn't have to use gimmicks to get people to show up (Club Akasha).

I agree! Robin Sojourner is a wonder and always there for someone who needs help, not only with the help asked for but many laughs as well. Wonderful woman I am honored to call a dear friend.
Robin will cuff us btw, because she in no way considers herself special.

Mysterious Callasto Because She's a Crimson Royal, and I owe great debt to her, and I'm a servent of her's, She's basicly My'Lady Is what I call her, But Powerfull In domantcy she ish, IRL she is a female, but I do question about some other females on sl because I have found quite a lot of females who are males o.o Shocking isn't it.

From: Catherine Linden Who do you think are the most powerful women in Second Life and why? Either post to this forum or email me directly at catherine@lindenlab.com. Remember, I need a Second Life name and, most importantly, WHY you think they are powerful. Thanks! The most powerful are the ones who don't need the title but have earned it. These are the women who aren't looking to pin this title onto themselves.

I have no idea if this woman was mentioned already but I have to say that Lillybeth Filth HAS to be mentioned here. She is the texture guru behind Textures-R-Us and without her, most of us would have the most butt ugly items for sale. I create textures myself and I can attest to the mind numbing work it can be. For someone to dedicate 50 hours a week creating textures for the rest of us who really just don't want the hassle.. Lillybeth gets my vote. She and all the other texture people in SL, I thank you because without you guys.. who would make us look goooooood.

From: Ami Kawabata From: Catherine Linden Yes, I do mean women in Second Life who are also women in their first life. Unless we are allowed access to everyones' accounts I do not think most of us can answer that for you. Nor should we; THAT would be a violation of CS/TOS Non-Disclosure. The nominees themselves may choose to disclose their OWN status, but it is not up to the rest of us to make that decision for them. Besides, I never saw anything that said that Cathrine was intending to release the results of her interviews in aggregate, nevermind in detail. How about it, Catherine; what are your intentions re the compiled information you are requesting? Just curious. Everyone seems to either not notice, not care, or automatically assume the worst. Me? I`m an AI program....

I have to second this Rissa, i may be slightly biased to nominate Lillybeth Filth as I know her in SL and RL but i see with my own eyes what she has brought into this game just by going to a random sim I know her work will have been used in one way or another. I remember when we both came to this game and we both got on a freebie motorbike and it was basically a 2 prim texture, it looked so "flat" back then, it wasnt much longer that she started to dabble in making her own textures. I feel she has brought depth and attraction to the game for the good of its residents and SL itself. kipper Zapata

I have to nominate Francis Chung.
She has contributed to the world very much, more than people realize. Countless people use her animation override script and im not sure if anyone has made a different one.

Nala Galatea I'm totally flattered, but as they say, behind every powerwul woman is a better one who is less snarky. Trinity Serpentine: Couldn't have done it without you, baby.
