Cristiano, we don't even speak for each OTHER, much less everyone else. We are speaking for principles of fair play, inclusion, and justice.

That is my interpretation of it; others may use different words. (Just as if you were to ask a Democrat what his party stood for, then asked another - their answers wouldn't be identical.)

coco

Ah .. but you see, therein lies the rub .... your interpretation of "fair play, inclusion and justice" maybe significantly different from mine or anyone elses.

Lots and lots of activities have been launched with just such well-intended, fine sounding, and lofty goals ... only to be revealed later as something much different.

That whole approach, using broadly-defined and fine-sounding terms, smacks a lot of the wizard telling dorothy ... "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" ....

Well, I'm not motivated to be suspicious about people's "hidden motives," when those people have noticed the very same problems that I have and are proposing we get together and do something about them.

Maybe the terms are fine-sounding because they ARE.

If you don't see these things the same way I do, that's of course your right.

Aye, sorry Coco, but I have to agree, and since I own 1/2 of a sim and pay $125 a month as a land baron, and you are simply a content creator, by your group's own definition of who is important to this "country", I must ask you to refrain from speaking about what you want for SL, as it is of no consequence due to your lowly standing among the unwashed masses who simply percieve our world as a "game".

Sounds rude, condencending, and elitest, doesn't it? Scary enough...that's exactly what you're supporting. And yes, I do own a 1/2 a sim and pay $125 a month. But you know what, this group's true agenda scared the living "bleep" out of me as well when I read it and saw that LL took their bait.

I do hope LL doesn't fall victim to this group's true ambitions of forging their own totally self-serving FIC power base who's only true interest is in solidifying, protecting, and expanding their own wealth and control.

So I'm adding my comment to this as a way of speaking out against what I percieve as the greatest threat to true player equality in the game; MJW. God help us all if LL does allow SL to be influenced by a power mogel FIC.

I don't think so. What speaks for the group is the agenda for the group, and not one member or another's comments or interpretation (including my own), and definitely not how others have decided to interpret a member's comments.

Well then, I await with bated breath how your leader was ousted by the group, but yet was immediately reinstated to the same position. Does that speak for the group agenda, or a select agenda that totally ignores the group as a whole? So what agenda is at work now, pray tell?

Sounds to me that the group's decision was ignored and over-turned by your leaders. If that's the actions of your leaders concerning your own people's desires, what's to say that won't over-rule what's good for everyone in order to enforce their own agenda concerning SL and their dealings with Linden Labs?

The vote, ousting, and re-instating of Anshe has already proven that the leadership cares nothing for what anyone else outside it's own inner circle wants, votes on, or decides. They have their own agenda, and even your own membership has no voice, no power, no importance.

Cash Now Cash Cow ?
09-01-2005 17:42
As I posted before the point of trajectory of the SL metaverse rocket has always been pointed toward Cashvilla. That secret planet in Philips pocket.

Here is my theory:
1. After several changes in direction, SL has crossed over any camouflage of a game its out in the open now.

2. SL needs real money people wanting to take an investment level approach.

3. The last piece of the puzzle was put in place with Shaun Altman’s Land market.

4. With the forming of this group it is clear they will weed out among them selves the beginning of a very real grouped investor corporation.

5. Next more very secret meeting will take place and hard investments will be shown by the group.

6.SL will position its self to go as a institution closed stock or leak info to the right circles for a real or mach buyout offer to raise the pricing (little screw job over on this new group).

7. This new group will incorporate as a institutional investment group able to buy closed stock IPO’s

8.Philip is testing the waters for SELL OUT.

I feel he tipped his hand way to early, and is guided by a low level staff analyst.
I feel he has done a brilliant job at Second Life, but pushed the cash cow button to early from some
poor strategic market analyst information.

Bottom Line: He is Trying To Cash-Out.

These are just thoughts of mine and only from taking in anything made public though these forms or in the Game of Second Life.

Duh. Anyone with a brain can see that SL won't make it more than a year (if that) unless there is a serious infusion of capital. It is always interesting to see how fast the 'we just want to make a cool thing' dies to 'we need cash... now', isn't it? :(

When someone is the SPOKESPERSON for your group, speaking at an event to the Lindens, what they say is very much germaine. Your notecarded agenda does not mean squat. What is being expressed in meetings like that is what the LIndens are listening to, not the talking points on a notecard. I don't know why you are acting like what your "spokesperson" says isn't relevant, but it is, and is the face your group puts forward.

Sorry.. but as an officer in this group - when your 'spokesperson' says - oh yeah, your not all going to get equal representation.. and I think that you lil farties aren't as good as us, not a single chat line of dissention is recorded..

Ya know... If I'd have been there there would be a line saying:

Siggy Romulus : Fucking WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?

But no.. I wish I had sound so I could hear if all sat there and friggin applauded... coz thats what my money is on.

I hear no dissention.

When its' brought up again , I again see no rebuttal, no correction, not a word.

It's brought up again in the forums, on multiple threads.. reiterated by your spokesperson AGAIN... clarified!

Nope, not a word.

So I can only deduce you all agree on it!

Thats your groups agenda, thats what they stand for.

You can ride it up, down, and all around, but thats what you playmates are all about - and at this point I'd be thinking to myself 'so wtf am I here as an officer?'

Siggy.

In the first place, I interpret what Anshe said as FUNDAMENTALLY different from how you are presenting it.

You don't get to decide what she means, then insist I agree with you, and leave the group.

1. I'm not in the group.
2. what part of this am I fundamentally not getting:

Anshe Chung: This is what we feel makes us stakeholders. More like you and in contrast to e.g. merely tourists, users, consumers, players etc

and

Anshe Chung: Whereas need to note that we are very much based on people who consider themselves stakeholder in SL
Anshe Chung: So we are less representative of the "casual player" which of course we also meet in this world

what part of that am I misreading Coco? You can translate that into Klingon and it reads the same..

Honestly I'm so done with you on this - put your horseblinders back on and replace your nose from that brown netherregion you've had it parked.. please..

Siggy.

Just makes me wonder why I as a "stakeholder" of 4 1/2 sims did neither hear about nor from this chosen club...wonder if it had to do with the fact that I am selling land and thus interefere with the interests of te spokesperson?
Other than that... oh well... I prefer deeds to babble.

Yes, it would be assumed that, overall, I would dislike the majority of the things Republicans stand for. (If I were a democrat.)

Yes, it would indicate that I don't agree with the Republican platform, but agree more with the Democratic platform.

But no, it would not mean that all my opinions are identical to those of all other Democrats.

It would mean that for the most part, I support the platform and the goals and ideals of that particular political party.

coco

P.S. Forgot this important point: NO, it would NOT mean I was against Republicans themselves.

But the point is, that those that heard you were a Democrat would make assumptions based upon that. That is the point that both Pendari and I are both trying to make. You can talk until you're blue in the face that it doesn't happen and that you don't do it yourself, but I've _seen_ you do it. I've seen you make assumptions about what someone thinks or feels because of posts around them or because of who they've sided with in the past on other issues.

On the other hand, feel good, your group does have Cris, Catherine and Nolan agreeing on things.

No, Cocoanut, that is not all it takes. The actions of members of your group can directly impact how effective achieving those goals are, or if those goals are undermined. You are not the Little Engine That Could. Wishing is not going to make it so. You would be a lot better served to simply continue to work to your own ends to bring about change - the latest chat log of another meeting of your "group" reads like the screen play from Titanic II.

Ah hell, Anshe is just saying what I have said all along. Some people are mor equal than others. Finally the capitalists who pooh-poohed the common players are meeting thier match in the force of raw Lindend monthly income that is anshe chung. Gues it always hurts to be the little guy. Now think about how the casual player feels when he encounters the Chip midnights, Aimee Webers and such. Feels pretty powerless.

Welli won't take this new committee for public safety or whatever anyn more seriously that the FIC issue. I have freinds on both sides of this debate, and frankly LL can do what it wants. But hey, why shouldn't they listen to a group of deadicated and talented people who advocate trnasparent and fair justice, and standards of conduct for Linden participation in the game? I mean I don't think Anshe's group has asked for the unreasonable.

Just like I have been told time and time again in these forums that the FIC is simply a group of talented people who don't get any special treatment from LL except that based on merit. Well Looking at the list of the new Committee for pulic safety, they all see very talented, success ful and influential. Seems they qualify to be heard by the lindens too.

As for me I'll still adore aimee, like prokofy, respect anshe, and antagonize the forums and build my parthenon. Thats what SL is about for me.

Buck up everyone and enjoy Sl.

Media types are NOT welcome.. How a 'vote' of 4/3 is possible with 30 people in attendance... guess not everyone is allowed to vote!

Actually, these seven people took it upon themselves to take a vote, and only FOUR of them decided they would ask me to leave.

I'm not a group member, but I have some guesses.

Lindens are socializing with people some group officers don't like, and one even posed for an ad for SLB. (Oh, sorry... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Obviously, this is corruption at its most insidious, and needs to be stopped in its tracks with a huge barrier of red tape!

Also, Philip mentioned at the last Town Hall that there would be times in the future when LL made decisions to implement features that might directly compete with successful resident-run businesses, just as the currency exchange will compete directly with GOM and IGE and Anshe's currency exchange. They can't let that happen, because they're pooping out enormous wads of cash from their land baroning businesses. If LL decided that land should be sold/bought/traded in some other way, they will be forced to try and make a living doing something else.
