Something certainly seems to have messed up the space-time continuum. I have been sitting here reading the responses of people in the group, and I alternate between laughing and being shocked at the arrogance of a group of self-serving people thinking they speak for all of us.

LOL!

Thank you for clearing that up, Katja.

Yes, if you are going to be a Democrat, you should agree with the overall views of the party, and work within to change those points of the platform you disagree with.

But if everyone had to agree with everyone else, have the same perspective on everything as everyone else, be responsible for everyone else's utterances, etc., there would be no Democratic party at all. There would be no politics, and nothing would ever get done.

I am very much in agreement with the general and overall position of the group, and with all the points of the agenda, to varying degrees. It isn't necessary for me to agree with Anshe's every statement, or love Mulch, or want to have Prok's babies, or anything of the kind.

It is the ideas, about which those in the group are in overall agreement, that is important. The details on each will be worked out in future, and I'm free to stay or leave at any point.

coco

But, at the same time, as a Democrat, it is assumed that you dislike the things Republicans stand for, that you are against the platforms of the Republican party. It is also assumed that because you are against those things you are against the Republics themselves. Ergo, my original statements still stand that if you are tarnished by the same brush, you hold the same opinions...i.e. that I'm a lazy tourist. I'm not going to back down from this, you can try to say all you want that you are a member and agree with the overall general principles, but if I was a part of a group that you didn't agree with....you'd be tarnishing me with statements they made. I have seen you do this in the past, so I don't see the problem in returning the favor.

I think this is what is known as the 'argument of phallusy' where if your opponent is a bigger dick than you , they win..

... I think I read that in one of those 'debate logic' pages...

But I can't remember if that was before or after the acid.

OMG!!! I cant even begin to quote all the people in this thread...who have made me spit/spew beverages on my monitor and keyboard this morning!! LMAO!!

I have to thank you though...its going to cost me some money to fix the "spew damage"...hence..more investment to continue to use this computer and be in SL....so...I level up to STAKEHOLDER status now right?? :p

1. If most people in SL would agree with the agenda, that would suggest the agenda is a good and popular one. That would in turn suggest more people will join the group. And that, imo, would be a good thing.

Actually, I stated that I *think* most people would probably agree with a lot of what is on the agenda, but that I cannot speak for them. Meaning, just because I *think* it is true, I could be way off. So it is not my place to even try and attempt to represent anyone but myself. Or even to *appear* like I am trying to do so.

My other point was that while you may not have another additional agenda, it seems obvious that at least a couple of other officers do. Like Katja stated, that means some are going to wonder the same about you. I'm a big proponent of not just outright judging an entire group on the actions of one or two (or more) people. But it *does* happen. And sometimes it is justified in happening (other times not so much). You have to be prepared to deal with that.

The other thing that puzzles me is that a *huge* base part of this agenda states that SL is a country not a game. You know I am VERY much in belief of that. However, you have always been one to try and debate that SL *is* a game. So I'm a little shocked you would go along with this agenda as much as you are??

Chuck D would be the RIGHT member of Public Enemy to be humping. Flav, I think, hit the crack pipe a little too often between 1990 and now.

Actually, I would have taken Professor Griff before he got all anti-Semitic with himself. He was a good looking man.

On an earlier thread about the topic of whether or not SL is a game, I spoke up for Cocoanut Koala, since I agreed with her that SL is a game, and felt she was being bullied in that thread. One person on that thread pointed out that I didn't know the history.

Now I'm more inclined to understand why people were getting on Coco's case.

Coco, it seems completely inconsistent for you to be an officer in the MJW group, while at the same time arguing that SL is a game. Anshe Chung seems to be primarily motivated by a desire to protect the value of her RL financial investment in the game. What are you doing siding with people like her?

I don't really understand anything in SL, so I'm going to go back to reading the forum posts again, and not venturing more comments, unless I feel especially motivated to do so. There are some fascinating things going on, though, and I watch with great interest.

Fair point. You have to understand how quickly this all happened, there are no ill intentions, its just happened THAT quick.

This is not the first post saying, in essence, "it happened so fast" ...

My question is, what was the reason for that speed ... just /why/ did it happen so fast.

Any of the answers I come up with on my own just aren't very positive ones ... help us here with some information about the just why this "suddenly appeared" ...

Thanks, :)

Anyone else still chuckling about the officers not knowing what the other officer's wanted and why this meeting was called and who put what on the agenda only to have a vote but not sure if the vote is on the left foot or the right wing?

:)

Amazing.

We can put a group together to stipulate and state *our shared concerns for the future of SL* but even the damn officers haven't communicated with each other on what their views are.

Oh, this is going to be a best-selling book with twists and turns that have never *ever* been seen before in the history of entertainment.

It's a murder mystery (who killed off the professor before he could get his evolutionist theory of SL fully written on the forums), it's a love story, it's a comedy... it's a soap opera with sex and politics.

Although, you have to admit, the comedic value is what is keeping this thread alive. I'll only throw sex and politics in the very beginning, just to spice things up.

I think this group will end up rather divided on a few issues.

I'm certain the group is already divided on probably an unlimited number of issues. (Just as the Democratic party is.) But I don't think that will detract from the main principles the group espouses and does agree on. It's a kind of coalition, if you will.

Cristiano, we don't even speak for each OTHER, much less everyone else. We are speaking for principles of fair play, inclusion, and justice.

That is my interpretation of it; others may use different words. (Just as if you were to ask a Democrat what his party stood for, then asked another - their answers wouldn't be identical.)

Yes, it would be assumed that, overall, I would dislike the majority of the things Republicans stand for. (If I were a democrat.)

Yes, it would indicate that I don't agree with the Republican platform, but agree more with the Democratic platform.

But no, it would not mean that all my opinions are identical to those of all other Democrats.

It would mean that for the most part, I support the platform and the goals and ideals of that particular political party.

coco

P.S. Forgot this important point: NO, it would NOT mean I was against Republicans themselves.

Well, the two loudest members are EXCLUDING people. One wants to exclude content creators unless they fit some undefined criteria, and the other thinks that there should be an elevated class for those who send more money.

You have to understand that when two of the most well known SLers are the founder and the person who decided to form the group, people are going to have something to say about it if they start making exclusionary statements, while saying "for the good of SL" out the other side of their mouths...
