Coco, we went over this in-world. In fact you did, 2 nights running. Maybe you didn't realize that's what these people were asking about when you sent them to me. Now you do. OK, don't worry about it.

Now I see where the misunderstanding is coming from. Those were REFERRALS. I sent them to you as potential renters/buyers. But since I also tell them you know all about land, that is probably why you end up having to do a bunch of explaining, lol.

Yeah, NOW the thread has jumped the shark.

I have one more (tongue-in-cheek) thought:

What if Prok is really a Linden alt just causing smokescreen for the real FIC? It'd be like the US government having people tell crazy stories about UFO abduction to hide a real truth about UFO contact.

but that's just wiggity wack talk just to be a wise-ass :D

Ha Ha - truthfully I thought in passing that it was possible that Prok was actually Phillip Linden. I mean, face it, the Lindens are a little twisted (you'd have to be to run a place like SL). Phillip just seems like the sort of bloke that likes to shake the tree and see what interesting thing falls out next. :p :D

FIC Timeline
05-05-2005 08:54
Look at when an av was born to spot the true FIC:

Ancient...Born 2002: Before Core, to be designated "BC" (ancient ones such as Nexus Nash and some Lindens primarily; too few in number to constitute a core)

Year 1...Born 2003: Base Core, to be designated "BC" (the group of members commonly accused of being part of the core conspiracy)

Year 2...Born 2004: Bulk Core, to be designated "BC" (the largest group of members making up SL)

Year 3...Born 2005: Bitching Core, to be designated "BC" (the group of new members who resent and suspect the older ones)

signed katykiwi Moonflower, BC Year 1

Katykiwi that’s slightly skewed on actual time line.
Ancients fall into the paradigm of the 2-hour Log in window.
All those that were active before the 24hr cycle ripped the time space continuum to co-link the parallel worlds are the Ancients.

The advent of the 24hr cycle took place mid or Late Feb 2003 ripping the very fabric of the SL Time continuum to an influx of your year one FIC.

I'm not Philip Linden. I don't think Philip Linden speaks Russian. That ought to be a dead giveaway. I'm waiting for them to put the last name "Endnil" in the list before I make "Hippil Endil" as my alt. Or wait. I could just use Fillip Denial or something if they put a last name in like that. Worked for "Wont Wrong" LOL.

Coco, the next thing you'll get is a huge slamfest where everyone accuses me of voraciously trying to suck up newbies' first land off them under the guise of renting to them. Thanks. LOL.

These people came and asked me for rentals, but at least one of them thought I had some kind of land myself in a 512 that I'd sell them. So I explained they shouldn't do that but get the cheap $512 thingie first.

I think the problem is that some newbies, as clueless as they are, especially if they don't have English as a first language, tumble on to you and actually think you're some kind of game boss. I find to my horror sometimes that these newbs think I'm the game. Like I'm Tom Nook. Like they'll say "I not been in this world long distance. Please to put house, Sir" etc. and I begin to realize that they some how got the wierd idea that renting was what you do. I try Russian and French on them sometimes, you never know, you might hit a cognate LOL.

Then when they start Im'ing me then every five minutes with a HUGE list of complaints, that the sim is down, that their game is laggy, that they can't find the house that won't stay on their land, etc. that I"m robbing and deceving them because I'm making them pay for land that is *eating their house, stealing their inventory, and crashing their game* well...I get a little taste of the joys of being a Linden. You have to be made of stern stuff to do CS like this all day.

And I explain to til the cows come home that they DO NOT HAVE TO RENT from me. It's only an option. In fact, if they have a premium account, go buy that first land, live there, it's almost free, only $512. Then sell it and live the life of Riley. I explain all this. I offer sometimes even to buy off their first land if they seem in a hurry and want to donate tier. I don't rip them off. I just try to explain. Some go sell it on their own. Some sell to me but then don't rent. Some do nothing.

Honestly, the explaining of this is hard, people don't listen, they don't read the cards, and you just have to keep patiently doing it. I take you as a good example, like I said, that you still remain uncertain about elements of all the land busines -- as I was and still am -- even trying to gain experience.

But fortunately, these kind of truly clueless newbs are very few and far between (and actully not clueless, but maybe just not speaking English, which isn't their fault -- I'm actually appalled that one of the features of the wikinistas here is to berate people for not learning English well enough as a technical international language. That seems like real linguistic imperialism to me.)

You could argue that precisely because some people stumble into the game and stumble on you and think *you are Tom Nook, you are the game* that you need to be ultra careful about things like private island listings. BUt in fact, precisely because I see a range of people coming into the game, I think this overprotectiveness of them, to the point that they can't even go do their thing and experiment and make their own mistakes, is just a new way of strangleholding the game and curbing its growth with that "throttle which if it exists I'm not inclined to remove" as it was said by a Linden.
