Estimate the Size of the FIC

I logged in SL just to look. There are 14 land for the landless plots right now. I am confused as to how you can't find them. They were there are soon as I opened land sales. Even if you have a land scanner you cant buy the land unless you are a premium account holder that has never held land before. It is possible that some people with alts are snapping this land up but a 512 plot is hardly worth the bother. Anyway can buy land from Auctions but it is in huge plots usually so it doesn't make sense for a new play to get first land from there.


Wow Azure Islands is sure running a great ad at the top of land sales I thought this free advertising for private sims was repaired?


2. There are tons of people in the welcome area giving items to newbies. I myself try to help with newbies. Almost everyone in SL wants to see it grow. People are tiring of the assholes, but such is life. And any game you play, the game is far more enjoyable if you stay our of forums. Forums=Stupid Tireless Drama. Stop reading forums and enjoy your 2nd Life.

What's sad to me about your post, Coco, is that I know you are very intelligent and perceptive, but the fact that you still don't know the answers to these questions and still don't understand the land market in SL even being here nearly three months, is that because there is a horrible, vicious backlash against the land dealers and a constant effort to misportray them, and never educate anybody about these issues. I try to work this topic myself and even hold classes sometimes but it's really overwhelming.

As I keep trying to tell you each night you IM me about this, there is indeed FIRST LAND, practically ever day, and usually enough of it. But it does not show up immediately in the list. And even when you filter the search for FIRST LAND you can't always see it. Sometimes only a few squares get posted and you have to fly to new sims with land/property owners toggled on in "view" to see it.

I have cards about this I'll send you so you can hand them out.

The auctions are only the Lindens' land, never players, players do not get to go on the website auction board although occasionally they'll have an in-world auction but they can't advertise that on the Land for Sale list per se.

Setting the land to $0 is a gimmick to get the land to show up in the list. Not sure why that doesn't work for me, and only works for private islands, but I've tried it too.

You need to get Adam and Nexus to set that $0-sale plot advertised not on YOUR land but on some commons where THEY instead of you are available to answer questions.

Land scanners detect sales set to $0 or $1 and avatars rush out to get it because it's considered a bargain to grab that kind of land and resell it.

The land you are on in Azure is very special and even very controversial now regarding its terms, but honestly, there is no reason why newbies can't buy and resell their $512 and make a profit FIRST before going into Ansheland or whatever -- I only encourage them to do this and even offer to buy it sometimes when I can.

This doesn't give me any profit because the long waits for re-sales, and the very insecure market, means you generally lose on these types of deals unless you do them copiously, persistently, in volume and that isn't my business.

It isn't that there is "no land" it is that both you and they aren't looking for it in the list. It's there. They don't always list all of it and you have to travel out to new sims to see the whole batch offered.

I really, really think it's unfair to portray first land as "falsely promised". There is LOADS OF IT EVERY DAY. I don't know why I can't get this across to you. I look at it DAILY and see LOADS. It sells at a brisk pace, but it's there. Perhaps ONE DAY they ran out on the new continent or something but the norm is there is a lot. When they run out that day, look again the next day, it will definitely be there.

By believing this tripe, which you got from some chance impression, you are merely fueling business for Anshe or Nexus and funnelling newbies into their arms. Don't do that. Every single newb with a premium account can FIRST buy first land, see if they like it, then SELL IT and have the money then to use in the game. Then they have the free tier they can use either to donate to a rentals community, like mine, or buy a new piece of land.

NOBODY BUT A NEWBIE CAN BUY THE FIRST-LAND SET ASIDE FOR NEWBS THE GAME IS SET UP THAT WAY, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BUY FIRST LAND UNLESS YOU HAVE NOT USED UP THE FIRST-LAND PRIVILEGE CONTAINED IN YOUR NEW PREMIUM ACCOUNT.

My advice is to stop being afraid of land barons, stop being afriad of this mythical class of people who are supposedly swooping down on you, because it is clouding your mind. Instead, use your head to ask questions if you don't see first land -- it may be that you aren't searching right. And go to new sims and fly around, you may see it that way sometimes when it isn't on the list. And wait until the next day during those EXTREMELY RARE times when it might run out by evening. And buy it...and then SELL IT, and learn about how to price it because it's a great resource in this game. Stop worrying about the people who are going to rob you and cheat you of it -- so the FIC imagines -- and realize you are empowered in this game to acquire real estate, you can buy it, and trade your way up in the game.



Amen, and amen. I think that's *exactly* what's going on. And I think there are many reasons for that, but the false notion that land scanners and auctioneers are slurping up first land isn't the reason LOL. The reason is the tekkie wiki. Now do you get it?

I did exactly that, StoneSelf. Now that was 3-4 nights ago, and I haven't looked since, but there was absolutely NOTHING listed. Which is why those people were telling me there was no first land. At that moment in time, there wasn't, lol.

But it is reassuring to know that people who already own land aren't eligible for the first land, and that the night none was listed may have just been a fluke. I'll look at it again tonight and see what it says.

The land scanners are there specifically to promote pandastrong underoos.

On the forums I've counted the number of people who say this. Three. Hardly worth worrying about.
In-world, I've never herd it said. (Though it no doubt gets said - people do pine for "the good old days" Don't let the forums color your view of SL too much. The vitriol and rancor here are several orders of magnitude greater than they are in-world.

StoneSelf, what you are so terseley telling Coco is no good, she's already doing that and the newbs are already doing that -- so that's why I went into such huge amounts of detail. The fact is, not all the land that is put out and available in first land patches is put up on the list. I'm not sure why that is. But it's a fact. So you see out out of 6 parcels and you have to just fly there to the new sims to check it out.

i know what they could be used for:
- data gathering
- curiousity (look ma! no hands!)
- greifing

data gathering can include
- demographics
- land sales
- topography
- object density
- other information
if you're a smart cookie you can usually use some of this information to turn a profit.

My reference was specifically of LL's violating their own TOS when they allow more than one player to have access to the same account, especially accounts set up to manage SL L$ monies.

I agree that most "FIC" players do more good than harm, as with most all players.

The reason I don't get this stuff is because I AM NOT INTERESTED IN IT! I don't even understand it! I have only become FORCED to be SLIGHTLY interested in it to help the premium members who come to my property and want to buy first land!

It IS on a commons; the people aren't coming directly to my lot! They come there because they see my LITTLE GREEN DOT there!
