Evidently the person who was really marketing SLExchange has parted ways with the person who was behind the coding. Yesterday, the coder apologized in a thread here on the forums for any hard feelings. While skimming the ensuing 10 pages of drahma that ensued, I didn't any concrete points of wrongdoing on any part. Yet, as per usual, everyone was posting on how they'd never shop at SLExchange again, how backhanded and sneaky the coder was in 'apologizing', yada yada.

Can we all please chill? SLExchange is a great idea that does *not* deserve the mudslinging that it's getting, from what I've seen. I've used it to get all sorts of neat SL goodies that I would not have know about without the site, and gives great exposure to our fine SL designers...it benefits everyone, IMHO.

Now, if the *is* some Enron-like financial cheating or *actual* wrongdoing, let's have people come clean about it. All I've heard so far is insinuations and kneejerk loyalty.

I almost put "Never. Screw Merwan." but thought that that was a little over the top.

Ulrika, do you realise that even if I one hundred percent supported a boycott on SLExchange I'm not going to vote with those wordings as the poll?

Relax. It's a drama thread.

Am I not allowed to post biased drama polls or do I always have to be on? Sometimes I just like to stir up trouble. :D

You stir up trouble so you can tell people to relax?

Meh. Up to you, but I don't find it helps you get taken particularly seriously at the other times you're trying to rally the troops.

And yes, I know we could all say the same, but we're not trying to be seen as leading politicians and all. Certain responsibilities come with the job, Ulrika. Which is presumably why real politicians dont generally troll forums stirring up shit about people when they know nothing about the situation and just want to push a personal agenda and then saying 'relax. I just like to stir up trouble' as a response.

I've had much success with online infrastructure including vendors with on-line reporting and hybrid in-world out-of-world voting machines. My next goal is to create a competitor to slexchange with significantly reduced pricing -- free in most cases. The slexchange fees are just ridiculous for the service provided.

If anyone would like to join me in this endeavor, send me an email. Now that elections are over in Neualtenburg (and the voting infrastructure is done) I can focus on some new tasks.~Ulrika~

I find your motives suspect. Boycott and sink a service you want to compete with? How does this mesh with your puported support for ethical capitalism?

There is still not enough information on this subject (as opposed to drama, innuendo, flames, trolls, etc.) to determine what actually happened.

I just don't like liars, name callers, cheats, and thieves who exploit other people. I've always been very aware of and very sensitive to justice as it relates to society and politics. ~Ulrika~

Justice: (Mirriam-Webster) "the quality of being just, impartial, or fair." Did your sensitivity to justice overlook the "impartial" part? And how about the name calling part?

Personally, I despise hypocracy.

Ulrika, just give it up, please. You're doing your best to hurt the designers and builders who sell online, and that's just really vicious.

And I won't take part in your biased poll because you've designed it so that all responses support your position.

Boycotting SLexchange does not necessarily involve hurting the bottom line of merchants who use the service. By simply travelling to their in-world stores or using the free alternative (http://www.secondserver.net) merchants will benefit, because their per-sale revenue will increase by avoiding the slexchange surcharge.

Disclaimer: I am currently listed on both secondserver and slexchange. I have not yet decided for myself how I feel about this slexchange.com situation, and I await clarification from Apotheus and Merwan about the facts. I hope it will be forthcoming.

I just received an email on this subject by someone in the know who provided me with disturbing information. If anyone else has any information regarding this situation, please send anonymous tips to me by email, PM, or IM. I am not a lawyer and not a representative of LL rather I am a very motivated activist and would like to exercise my right to call for a boycott.

The boycott is on.

That's right. I've just transitioned from stiring up controversy to being dead serious about this boycott. The only way I'll call it off, is if Apotheus settles this dispute by honoring his contract. I'll be spending time in world contacting sellers on SLExchange one by one directly discussing the situation and the boycott with them.

Here's how you can help. If you know someone who sells at SLExchange tell them about the breach of contract and let them decide. Go to the SLExchange.com Marketplace and find any merchant randomly. Contact them by email, IM, or PM and educate them on the situation and let them decide.

We don't need permission from owners, buyers, or sellers to engage in a protest of unethical business practices.

What you have stirred up is my disgust.

You are indeed a bully as self-described. There is still no evidence to support any action.... oh, except for your "disturbing information" received from "someone in the know." And now you are soliciting "anonymous tips."

I'm with Jonquille on this... you are an attention whore looking for a bandwagon. If you can't find a cause, you will invent one.

Ulrika, you're going way too far. STOP NOW.

1.) Neither side of the dispute wishes a boycott.

2.) The boycott mainly hurts those who use the service -- you're cutting off the sales of dozens of the best designers and builders in SL.

3.) You've already announced that you intend to build a competing service. This is just a sleezy, underhanded way to eliminate your competition before it starts.

4.) You DO NOT know the facts. Nobody does except the two parties involved. Trying to destroy the business of dozens of individuals based on rumour and forum drama is misguided and vicious at best.

Leave it alone and let them sort it out.

Ulrika, This isn't your fight. It's one thing if people or LL are doing something to hurt the community... this is a private matter between 2 individuals. A boycott will only serve to tear down what both these people have worked hard for.

I actually agree that Boycotting a business is one of the few ways we as residents of SL can put a bit of power into our hands as to which businesses thrive and which ones fail. There are already a number of businesses in SL that I personally Boycott. Though I only would tell a friend which ones they are if specifically asked. Word of mouth is a huge and highly regarded form of advertisement for a business. It goes a long way.

That said, I personally will wait to see how this situation turns out before I decide if I will Boycott Slex or not. Too much is still up in the air at this point (for me personally).

Oh.. as a follow-up. Our company is listed on SLExchange. If you do manage to stir up a mob and I get a pile of inworld IMs... I will do my level best to test with the Lindens if Inciting to Harassment is a violation of the TOS.

Who is this person "in the know"?

What is the information? Why should we believe YOU since you've flipped flopped back and forth on this subject based on a "whiff" of information that you previously received?

Did you receive the information from both Merwan AND Apoth?

Or are you just giving one of your gut-reactions to one-sided information that you received?

With your exciteable attitude and postings about this subject, you at least owe the community who read these forums and have read about this subject MORE than just your hysteria.
