Apotheus Silverman removed Merwan Marker's administrative access to SLExchange.com, terminating their 60/40 business agreement without warning. This evening I received an eMail message from Apotheus which I find encouraging!
Since the morning of 1/12/2004 when I was locked out of administration of SLExchange.com, it has been my goal to understand and resolve this very difficult situation. To that end, I made numerous private, but unsuccessful efforts.
I am encouraged because you (Apotheus) reference our business agreement of 9/25/2004, where our 60/40 ownership stake of SL Exchange is detailed. Apotheus, I am asking you again, please restore my full access to SLExchange.com. Once that is done, we can move forward.
This good faith gesture on your part will restore my confidence - and hopefully that of many of our merchants, customers, LL, and the SL community - that in fact you are acting from a place of integrity.
I want to thank everyone for your support and encouragement - it is greatly appreciated and has done much to brighten my spirits.
Apotheus, I await your reply.

Merwan Marker is no longer an agent of SL Exchange, and this is the subject of my apology.
I have no idea who is telling the truth here. Needless to say I have withdrawn any money I had in slexchange as it's not exactly a sign of confidence for a merchant. Slexchange has been my greatest source of sales recently. It is clear that the buying public like web browsing for sl items - but their vehicle for doing so has been damaged by what looks like self-sabotage. |

Ulrika, Merwan responded later in the thread you copied that from that that statement is NOT an email he sent to Apotheus. You may want to rephrase your protest. Besides no Social Democrat in their right mind would begin a protest without knowing both sides of the story, thinking it through, and coming to a well-thought-out, education decision.
Don't jump the gun on this, there's still more to be learned.

You don't know all the information; yet you jump to a conclusion and post to boycott something that is beneficial to the community based on your own exclusive opinion.
And you want to run for government, be involved in politics and GOVERN?

There is more to this story than either Apoth or Merwan are posting on the forums; no one should be making any judgments until the whole episode is explained.

I think a boycott of the site is premature, although it is already happening in some ways, not surprisingly given Apotheus' behavior and Merwan's popularity and reputation. Merwan is part owner in this business still, according to him (although Apotheus has repeatedly stated he isn't), so any boycott action at this point would harm Merwan as well. The site is getting plenty of negative attention already. I think giving them a chance to resolve this issue is the most important thing, though I can't blame any retailer for wanting to leave the site and for shoppers to not want to deposit money into the Exchange Street account. Trust is earned, and very easily squandered, and it has been here. It is important to keep supporting the merchants however - so if you don't buy through the site, buy directly from them - they should not suffer because of this.

Yes - no-one has explained what the attempted blackmail was. All merchants are making money out of SL Exchange - myself included. This whole sage just looks terribly, terribly unprofessional. If this was rl would you want to trust these people with your money? God no! I don't understand why someone would want to destroy the reputation of their own project. Greed? Foolishness? Massive ego? It's utterly bizarre. |

I have zero tolerance for the ever-present unethical capitalism that seems haunt this game. We have no law enforcement, we have little recourse through the Lindens, the only solution is to exercise our collective force as consumers. This is done through a boycott.
No more unethical capitalism in SL! The boycott remains.

Remember Ulrika, it wasn't too long ago that you were accused of copying someone else's work and putting it up as your own.
We all waited patiently for the Linden's to verify the truth.
While the Linden's *can't* verify a private-party agreement, we can wait until the truth comes out.
