... *I* am getting offended just reading this foul stuff, Surreal.
It's amazing what people will do and say when activism threatens their income stream.

By the way, don't use their names. It might draw the black triumvirate to the forums.

What is a Forum Troll?
07-08-2005 15:34
Taken from: http://curezone.com/forums/troll.asp

An "Internet troll" or "Forum Troll" is a person who posts outrageous message to bait people to answer. Forum Troll delights in sowing discord on the forums. A troll is someone who inspires flaming rhetoric, someone who is purposely provoking and pulling people into flaming discussion. Flaming discussions usually end with name calling and a flame war.

A classic <Second Life> troll is trying to make us believe that he is a skeptic. He is divisive and argumentative with need-to-be-right attitude, "searching for the truth", flaming discussion, and sometimes insulting people or provoking people to insult him. Troll is usually an expert in reusing the same words of its opponents and in turning it against them.

While he tries to present himself as a skeptic looking for truth ... his messages usually sound as if it is the responsibility of other forum members to provide evidence that what forum is all about is legitimate science.

---------------------
Based upon the description above, it appears to me that this extremely caustic thread was ressurected in a Trolling manner. If I am misguided on this, please - tell me how it's wasn't.

Thanks! :)

I'm refering to the reason that this can-o-worms was reopened from its hermetically sealed vault.

I'll leave the connections to specific individuals to someone else :)

Heh.. this is an old thread, Dianne. Those were different times then.. you know, people could say what they wanted, the west was still wild & untamed.

Not like the lawful and orderly existence we have now!
Sorry :)

Hmm, and here I thought we could all laugh about this.

I guess the wounds have yet to heal!

I think the problem is that everyone around here finds disagreement and discord a bad thing.

Ah well.

Troll Alert

The only way to deal with trolls is to limit your reaction and not to respond to trolling messages. It is well known that most people don't read messages that nobody responds to, while 99% of forum visitors first read the longest and the largest threads with the most answers.

You know, you're all more than welcomed to post your own thought provoking insights into SL.

I'll happily chime in with productive ideas on those threads rather than creating my own.

Are you the troll or what?!

Ahem. Uh. I mean yes. That's a splendid idea, blaze.

While there is nothing wrong with resurrecting old threads, please stay on-topic and refrain from personal attacks or this thread will be locked.

What kind of person would want to live under a bridge? I just don't understand it.

Ulrika, I thought you wanted us to go back and read this since you had posted a link to it in the Happy Birthday Ulrika thread the other day. The part where you listed the highlights of your year. I reviewed your list and the links provided since your accomplishments have been lauded in the forums this week. I consider resurrecting this link to be timely and useful for those who were unaware of your contributions.

Let me negate your thinly veiled sarcasm by saying that I do consider this thread (and the several others which accompanied it during its time) as a critical part of my oeuvre. ;)

My goal is and has always been to promote liberty, equality, and brotherhood in our virtual world. Whether it's an attempt to seek democratic reforms from the Linden oligarchy, to create in-world political institutions, or organize an virtual boycott in the face of unethical business practices, I'm always seeking to empower the virtual citizen and change the virtual world for the better.

Granted, I sometimes use unconventional tactics but, damn it, that's what makes me so much fun. :D
