Bush is destroying this country and if you dont see it you deserve to be drafted to go die for the oil loving whores in the white house. I on the other hand will be in brazil (when the draft is brought back, not if, WHEN) content in the knowledge that i voted for the other guy. You may say Bush and Kerry where the same when it came to their policys but for four years i have seen the path bush has been putting this country on and if you dont think things will be diffrent with Kerry as president your insane.

It would be an honor to serve this country in military duty. The only part of it that would be discouraging to me would be if I was serving knowing that it was protecting you and other's like you, people who obviously show no faith or commitment in it, and who would flee to another nation at the drop of a hat - all the while reaping the benefits of this fine country until their departure.

But that's the way it is, and our great military sacrifice plenty to protect you and me and everyone else. So please go. Now if you must, why wait? If you're so sure that there will be a draft, I urge you to run now.

If you have no desire to be here and have "seen the path Bush has been putting this country on," what are you waiting for? Is it because you enjoy all the rights you have here. The right to speak freely like you do? This country provides and protects those freedoms for you. Show a little appreciation for it or change your location.

And don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Well, if it was just the conservatives winning the election, and different views are exposed in Washington, no biggie.

However, in this situation, we have a radically right-wing president, radically right-wing congress, and a soon to be radically right-wing judiciary. How do you think the facists in Germany got their start back in the late 30's and early 40's? Extreme nationalism, single party, hatred for people who won't tow-the-line, etc.

It can happen here.

So..because Bush was in office when we went to War with a Dictator..he's compared to Hitler? Something doesn't click. Dictators support Dictators I would think because they do not want elections.

The American Prospect
April 1, 2004, by Robert Reich

http://www.robertreich.org/reich/20040401.asp

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Musings about a second Bush term typically assume another four years of the same right-wing policies we've had to date. But it'd likely be far worse. So far, the Bush administration has had to govern with the expectation of facing American voters again in 2004. But suppose George W. Bush wins a second term. The constraint of a re-election contest will be gone. Knowing that voters can no longer turn them out, and that this will be their last shot at remaking America, the radical conservatives will be unleashed.

A friend who specializes in foreign policy and hobnobs with subcabinet officials in the Defense and State departments told me that the only thing that's stopped the Bushies from storming into Iran and North Korea is the upcoming election. If Bush is re-elected, "[Dick] Cheney and [Donald] Rumsfeld are out of the box," he said. "They'll take Bush's re-election as a mandate to wage the 'war on terror' everywhere and anywhere."

The second term's defense team will be even harder line than the current one. Colin Powell will go. Condoleezza Rice will take over at the State Department. Rumsfeld will consolidate power as the president's national-security adviser. Paul Wolfowitz will run the Defense Department.

Domestic policy will swing further right. A re-election would strengthen the White House's hand on issues that even many congressional Republicans have a hard time accepting, such as the assault on civil liberties. Bush will seek to push "Patriot II" through Congress, giving the Justice Department and the FBI powers to inspect mail, eavesdrop on phone conversations and e-mail, and examine personal medical records, insurance claims, and bank accounts.

Right-wing evangelicals will solidify their control over the departments of Justice, Education, and Health and Human Services -- curtailing abortions, putting federal funds into the hands of private religious groups, pushing prayer in the public schools, and promoting creationism.

Economic policy, meanwhile, will be tilted even more brazenly toward the rich. Republican strategist Grover Norquist smugly predicts larger tax benefits for high earners in a second Bush administration. The goal will be to eliminate all taxes on capital gains, dividends, and other forms of unearned income and move toward a "flat tax." The plan will be for deficits to continue to balloon until Wall Street demands large spending cuts as a condition for holding down long-term interest rates. Homeowners, facing potential losses on their major nest eggs as mortgage rates move upward, might be persuaded to join the chorus.

In consequence, Bush will slash all domestic spending outside of defense. He will also argue that Social Security cannot be maintained in its present form, and will push for legislation to transform it into private accounts. Meanwhile, the few shards of regulation still protecting the environment and the safety of American workers will be eliminated.

Justice Sandra Day O'Connor will surely step down from the Supreme Court, possibly joined by at least one other jurist, opening the way for the White House to nominate a series of right-wing justices, a list that could easily include Charles Pickering Sr. and William Pryor Jr. After Chief Justice William Rehnquist resigns, Bush may well nominate Antonin Scalia for the top slot -- opening the way for Scalia and Clarence Thomas to dominate the Court. Such a court will curtail abortion rights, whittle down the Fourth and Fifth amendments, end all affirmative action, and eliminate much of what's left of the barrier between church and state.

Karl Rove and Tom DeLay, meanwhile, will have four more years to fulfill their goal of transforming American democracy into a one-party state. Congressional redistricting across the nation will make Texas' recent antics seem a model of democratic deliberation. Automated voting machines will be easily rigged, with no paper trails to document abuses. Changes in campaign-finance laws will permit larger "hard money" donations by corporate executives and federal contractors who have benefited by Republican policies.

Finally, the Federal Communications Commission will allow three or four giant media empires -- all tightly connected to the Republican Party -- to consolidate their ownership over all television and radio broadcasting.

Nothing is more dangerous to a republic than fanatics unconstrained by democratic politics. Yet in a second term of this administration, that's exactly what we'll have.

Should we have let Saddam grow like we did Hitler by not intervening in time only to lose more soldiers by the time we did? If we don't establish a stretegic foothold on freedom in the Oil regions..and take a stand for freedom now..later down the road it may be too late.

Should we let Bush grow like we did Hitler? It's a far more apt analogy.

Remembering what I learned from history lessons at a German school, and from what my (German) parents and grandparents told me, and reading the article by Robert Reich....I'm afraid that half of the American people just made it possible on Tuesday. :(

I would like to say a few things here. One what flipp said in the begining of this post is true. I am one of his freinds with the diffrent veiw. We are still freinds. Two I was rated a trip neg for my veiw on this election. What is that? I feel really sorry for someone who feels that freedom of speech ends with their veiw point. I think that it IS others rights to feel upset and to make/build what ever they want. That is the greatest thing about SL we have the freedom to do that. I do have to say that a house devided will fall. Idealy I would like to see us all come together and make/do somthing great, but this also is not a law. We have the freedom to feel that way. Flipp was right if you see somthing that offends LEAVE that is all you can do.

There goes Demian, doing research, reading articles and essays from all around the world in 4 languages every day. He thinks hard about it, makes up his mind, and sometimes he cuts and pastes something that he wants to share.

I would have to guess by saying (but I would be really close) that probably 100 days out of the year I drive to work, and come in the gate at my Air Force Base, and I see protesters...many of them. Saying things from "you are killing babbies" to "we hate you all"...thx for your support...thats all i have to say about that...

Do they think I drink beer with George? Do they think that I can just call him up and say hey dude, uhh, these people are mad at me...please stop? I am 100% for standing up for what you believe in, but IIIIIIIIII dont kill babbies, IIIIIIIIIII have a job, defending them, sooooo, does n e 1 know why they say that stuff...or am i just seeing the negative losers with no correct left wing mentality, just a chip on their shoulder?

:-) LOVE YOU ALL!

we have a newly re-elected Commander in Chief. That position deserves respect from any American, regardless of political standpoint. One may not agree with his politics, but that doesn't give anyone the right to disrespect our leader.

And for fuck's sake. Our flag. How dare anyone do that to our national symbol.

First of all, this right here is an extremely unamerican thing to say... The first amendment protects this person's right to disrespect the president. As one of our founding father said "I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

How is it that you feel that it is right to refuse someone the right to disrespect the president? I see the fact that people openly and freely disrespect the president as being a sign of freedom in a nation... It's when people are afraid to voice their disdain for a leader that something is wrong, not when people feel safe doing as such.
