Cristiano,
<<Even if they form the Lesbian Communist Party in Neualtenberg with the full blessing of the Lindens, ultimately it has no bearing on what goes on in any other sim, so why is there so much uproar about it?>> Actually, if we had to have a government, I could probably live with the Lesbian Communist Party. ![]() I would think it was eminently clear why the whole subject causes me, as we say over here, to get my knickers in a twist. Because having experienced it, I know that self-government in a virtual world can be so awful that it can damage people in real life. I think we should fight any chance of that happening in sl, however remote that might be. I am relieved that the Lindens are not directly sponsoring the experiment - that was my main fear. Kendra, I have already said in a previous posting that what you are doing in Neualtenburg is none of my business. All I am concerned about is the possibility of its spreading beyond those boundaries. The moment it does, I won't be writing mildly admonishing postings in forums - I will be fighting you tooth and nail. Hopefully, that day will never come. _____________________

WOW, I go home and get some sleep and the kiddies really come out to Play.
I made my final statement about this previously but I will reitterate in simple English one last time for those on Netbonics. #1. I trust no forum written words but those that come from the Ruling party of SL when it comes to a player run government, which is LL. They have spoken thus it is done. #2 I have no problems with Ulrika and Kendra having any form of goverment within the confines of their own land or group owned land. In fact I don't even harbor any ill will towards either of them. #3 I do have problems with Player run governments that would ever think they have control over me and if it was sanctioned by LL then its time to either fight or flee. #4 Last sentiment to any and all that read this. The moment any organization (player run government) presumes to attempt to control influence or dictate to me how I will play my SL outside the set TOS and COS standards that LL has given us. I will fight who ever you are tooth and nail. Be that known now and forward. In addition if it comes to a battle with "ANY" organization know this I WILL NOT resort to 2year old tatics of calling some one a "poo poo head" to get a response. We are adults lets act like it shall we. We have differing opinions and some are strong felt opinions. I may not be as eloquent as some and my written vocabulary may fall far short of my mental capabilities. But even with that handicap, I will still battle points of view with the best snake tongue in the bunch. (please note snake tongue is in reference to the age old con artists that could talk a woman out of her panties and never touch her.) So again I reitterate: I have no problems with Ulrika's and Kendra's project as long as it stays in the confines of their own land and I am not forceably subjected to its organizational rules. They have some great ideas some not totaly feaseable with lack of controls but some I say again some great ideas. I do have MAJOR problems with ANYONE who attempts to impliment a world wide player run government. The Lindens have spoken it wont happen so GTFOI (for those that need a translator GET THE FUCK OVER IT!) So in closing this thread the Lindens have spoken. Our fears have been put to rest for now. However, let the thread die after this and any future threads that reference a Player Run government. Continuing to argue it gives credence to their platform and we dont need any New Pinky N the Brain's poping up in the world thinking they are gods. So 'Nuff said already. Shadow _____________________

Creating and understanding how a government works, is really for me very acceptable..as long as it does not involve those that do not want to be involved in it.
When someone is working on his newly created gun, and want to test his push abilities, it would bad of him to fire at those that have not signed on to be a target. For me, it would be nice to see how a truly workable and human government works. So thumbs up for her, hope she can learn good things from it. However, creating a government that is swallowing those that do not want to be in it, that is not what will happend in SL, that only works in RL because those that runs the government in the RL are corrupt. Go for it! |

I'd count on other Citys springing up that have their own governments --and for those Citys to have governmental interactions with Neualtenburg, but it is nobody's (and certainly not mine) to enforce a governmental structure on SL -- I like to be outlaw and free myself sometimes. As for the Lesbian Communist Party? You're welcome to join or just grab a Corona and hang out any time ya like ![]() |

See --I knew we could find common ground. We'll begin by streaming the Indigo Girls s in Town Square. My mother used to book them all the time before they became famous. I've partied with these gals a few times. Maybe I'll get my mom to contact them and put in a good word! hehe ![]() _____________________

Why I joined and support the Neualtenburg Projekt
11-17-2004 06:58
Ok. This thread is on again off again. So I have also posted my below reply in the Neualtenburg Projekt group forums here:
/103/7d/27628/1.html --------------------------- I have been battling the flu the last few days and have not had a chance to post to the forums. I am doing a bit better now and wanted to take this chance to voice my reasons for joining and supporting the Neualtenburg Projekt. I've been in SL for over a year now. And I was around during the large debates about bringing a government to SL. Those who remember my opinions during those debates will know that I am opposed to a current (and forseeable future) government being established for the entire world of SL. However during the debates I also strongly agreed with those who were stating that there will be a day down the road when a government very well may be needed. This could be many years from now, and it may not even be within the SL as we know it. If you think about the future of SL, and the worlds that will develop based on its ideals, then it does give reason to pause and think that 5, 10, or 20 years from now, with the growth of technology and more people throughout the RL world turning to the online world for business, education, entertainment, etc., we really cannot begin to imagine how much our online lives are going to start resembling our real lives. When the day comes that the online world and the real life world are intertwined so heavily that we cannot tell the difference, then yes, I very much can see governments coming into play throughout the different communities. To me, these ifs and whens are something to think about. And if we think about them now, and we experiment with different types of online governments now, before it is "too late", then maybe in the future the governments we now live with in our RL will not be the ones to neccessarily take over our online worlds. Through experiments and trials and error, I feel that those currently in online worlds really do have a chance at shaping the future dynamics of online worlds. Some will do it through business practices, others through educational, others still through arts and entertainment, and yes some through politics. The Neualtenburg Projekt to me is a great testing ground that I personally believe can shed some light on a possible future. I do not fear it will ever take over SL (nor would I want it to). While I would love for the Projekt to grow and expand, it will never be something that would be forced upon the unwilling. It may inspire other government project to pop up in SL, and that would be great also! Unlike the difficulty of moving to a different country in RL when you are opposed to your government, in SL and hopefully other online worlds that develop, you can choose where to move in the first place based on your beliefs, or keep it from moving into your community. Or move out fairly easily enough if you cannot overthrow a government that you do not agree with. If the day came that the Neualtenburg Projekt became unvoluntary, you better believe I'm going to be right there with everyone else making sure we tear it down fast. But that isn't going to happen. Because I know I'm not the only one involved on the inside of the projekt that would work to keep that from happening. So my reasons for being a part of this projekt are for experimental purposes only. For my part in it, I will be focusing solely on issues pertaining to SL, and RL issues that would *directly* affect SL. I believe that the day will come in our online lives that government will very much be a part of it, and I for one would love a part in shaping how it may come to be. _____________________

I was invited by Satchmo to visit this little town, it looks very cute and very German. Ulrika offers you not only a government but also a little heimat with Oktoberfesten, Pretzels, Wurst and Erdinger Beer.
