Whipping it out would be so blasé. There's no sensuality or creativity in that.

It would be much more entertaining for me to tease and taunt you with it, then the reward would be that much sweeter. ;)

OMG! How do I miss a thread that has my name in the title? I could just kick myself. I can't believe that even Haney showed up and I missed it. Ha ha.

As long as I'm here, I just wanted you all to know that this project isn't just about architecture, culture, and politics. It's about all of you. Fundamentally, I am a person who cares deeply about humanity. This caring manifests itself in an interest in social issues and politics, a desire to express myself collaboratively making unique works of art, and time spent sharing SL and the forums with you.

Whatever comes of this government, whether it is a short-lived experiment that gave us something to talk about in the forums or the next form of collaboration to help players reach their highest potential, I assure you, as long as I'm a part of it, it will be benevolent. Except for blaze. He's screwed. ;)

Ulrika, again, I think your project is really cool.
But.
Okay, see this bolded part? It proves what me and Shadow are saying - that you are looking for a SL-wide form of government. I guess, I suppose you're welcome to try, but look, ain't gonna happen. Like I said, that'd be like having an Internet Government.

What I do think you can achieve, if you strive for it, is being (another) example of regional government in SL. I do wish you'd apologize for implying it is the first, because it's clear that there have been plenty of chartered governments before yours and it's insulting to the hard work other groups have done in their projects.

But... like, Ulrika, people don't trust you. Saying:

Like, Saddam thought he was a benevolent ruler too, and he assured the UN time and time again that he was ;) ... your best bet is to stop posting audacious posts in general forum declaring that you're bringing government to SL, and let your (fine) work speak for itself.

p.s. - I'm good with Robert's Rules of Order and constitution writing. While I can't afford the time to get involved in more projects now, I can offer some time to review what you have and give feedback as to soundness, etc.

Hiro...

It doesnt prove a damned thing! You've come down to picking apart the use and order of words now just to try and make an argument, it seems, because you have nothing else to complain about. And it's YOUR interpretation of what she said. Not proof. Not by a long chalk.

Trust me, I am no friend or supporter of Ulrika, but this is getting ridiculous.

"the next form of collaboration to help players reach their highest potential"

... could simply mean that if you join their project, it could help you achieve, as a collaborative effort, more than you could achieve alone. Which is true. Like any other group effort.

I do not read into that simple statement that she wants to take over the world. Yes, I think she's a power crazed megalomaniac, but you're arguing for the sake of finding something to argue about now, I'm sure of it.

I read it twice and I even spell checked it and put it through an English to Polish translator and it seems it still just says BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH even in Polish. Hero (sic) if Ulrika and Co. have a vision that others believe in and want to be a part of why do you have to shit all over it like an annoying little bird? No player can affect all of SL but I think what she is doing is great! Nice Saddam reference. Did you hear Saddam is the new black (er Hitler). Discredit your "opponent" by comparing them to brutal dictator-murderer type * YAWN *. In the words of Tori Spelling's SAT instructor on Beverly Hills 90210, SCAN SELECT DISCARD AND MOVE ON.

Oh I don't know about that. I can think of at least one player who takes such advantage of gaming 'loopholes' in the system that the Lindens have changed the rules for every last one of us. Actually wait. I can think of two.

Uh huh. Obviously, your government isn't interested in contrarian opinions. A good start to a democracy if I ever saw one..

BTW, you have obviously missed my point completely. I'm all for what you're doing. I think I posted that about 7 times.

Some examples:

From: someone

This is becoming more and more necessary.

(In reference to why your government would be useful..)
From: someone

Dispute resolution.

There was an article in Wired and I believe it was one of SecondLife's largest points of participation at the State of Play conference.

While your voluntary scheme is great, Hiro, it has been proven time and time again that such things break down at certain levels of population and are not scaleable.

From: someone

I am particularly glad that he posted in this forum. The content is interesting, thought provoking, and adds a fascinating layer of depth and complexity to SL.

From: someone

I think that is a truly great idea. I think player run governments are absolutely the right solution. But participation in those governments should be done on a completely voluntary basis and any involvement by Linden's in any particular scheme is dangerously drifting away from the philosophy of a completely voluntary basis.

From: someone

Well, Talen, I have no problem with what you are doing

In reference to Kendra's description of what you are doing..
From: someone

sounds exciting.

I am against Linden sponsoring your government. Which they have clearly said they're not. They're sponsoring you to build some prims. So .. no problem.

Please try to read more closely.

Yes but that is part of her charm. Plus she looks awesome in a monocle and Armani suit. Not everyone has the shoulders and cheekbones to carry off that look. Ulrika ZugZug is one to watch in 2008. :)

Wow were you outraged when Linden Lab has sponsored sex clubs and prostitution? Just curious. By sponsored, I mean PAID OUT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. This project got nothing except the ability to own some land, and not even for free - they pay tier on it like everyone else. This is not Linden sponsorship. Neverland would be Linden Sponsorship, this is not.
