Let's see.... Women have irresponsible sex and what happens... She gets the reward of being able to back out of parenthood, unlike men. She can use it as a way to get a man to marry her, and don't tell me it doesn't happen.

She can make a guy support her choice to be a mother, even if he was not willing to accept fatherhood yet.

No matter how careful the man is, his choices are limited to no sex or possible perenthood against his will.

But that's all fair to the feminists.

But see that's what we have the bribe *cough* excuse me, child support, for. It's cash in lieu of fatherhood. No need for a shotgun wedding.

There you have it. Typical Liberal dodge. Can't fight the facts, go to some BS extreme and if you can take a swipe at Christianity-even better.

But let's take a look at this.

1. In a marriage if no where else, the decision to have an abortion should be made by the two of them together unless there was some previous agreement about having no kids before a certian point or not at all, etc.

2. Parents should know about what their children are doing! An abortion is a major proceedure-you don't think parents have the right to be informed If something happens-how the hell are they gonna know? And what if something goes wrong? You think a teenager is going to have the money to go to the best abortion clinic? Of course not. And if the procedure is botched, who's paying for follow up care? And if the worst should happen, how will the parents know? No one was having a fit when another poster related the story of how her mother overruled her own wishes in favor of an abortion.
Again, the MAP should be in every rape kit.

3. This isn't about men wanting to control or own women. This is about people wanting to stop the murder of unborn children. The Left keeps skewing the argument because they can't win otherwise. This is not about the woman-it's about the baby. When it comes to choosing to have sex, women have the same rights as men.

4. This thread isn't about abortion. This thread assumes that abortion is still legal and asks-where are men's rights in all this? You wanna talk abortion-go to one of the billion abortion threads. Again-Liberals dodging the subject at hand.

That is complete and utter bullshit. I don't pay child support so I don't have to see my children or be involved in their lives. If anything, paying child support is the best way to insure that I remain involved. It's buying my right to parenthood which my first wife would be more than happy to ignore. The money I send not only makes sure that my child is fed and clothed but gives me the legal muscle to make sure that I actually hear from my child, that I see her when I'm supposed to, that I have access to her school records.

Same with the child support to my second wife. She lives much closer and I have a much better relationship with her so I have much greater access to my kids on that side.

I'm not going to get into all the BS going on with my first wife because it's not relevant to the topic. The point is, child support is not about opting out of fatherhood and I'm sick to death of the rampant sexism coming from many of the women in this thread all of which has gone unopposed.

Well apparently we get to roll around in all that money that the men have to pay in child support...

In this case the guy is a computer programmer and from my understanding it's not like he's just making enough to live paycheck to paycheck.

A friend of mine had a boyfriend she lived with for years. He was a momma's boy and years go by and he conspires with his mother behind her back to get a restraining order, to gain custody of the child so that he can move back in with his mommy, go back to school while his mother takes care of the child and the same day the restraining order was issued, my friend had to leave her house.

That guy lied and claimed he was the one who did all of the yardwork, housework, took care of the baby and I was the one who talked to her on the phone while he was out of town for days due to his job and she was the one taking care of the baby, doing the housework and the yard work.

There's alot of injustices and it's not always as black and white as gender. Money is involved too. Right now my friend can visit her child but she's living in a crappy motel and can't afford a high powered $500 an hour lawyer like her momma's boy ex boyfriend who betrayed her just so he can get out of paying child support, so he can go back to school and cater his mothers wishes as well.

This world is sick and sad on all sides of the fence. The grass is not greener.

I think anyone who truely thinks that needs to switch genders in Second Life as an experiment and do it for at least a month.

You're right, Kiamat. Your case is different. You're buying the right to legal (serial) polygamy.

Wrong again. If I could pay extra to never have to speak to the first wife again, I'd gladly work two jobs to do it. But thanks for proving once again that Liberals can't tackle the topics head on. Again, you've sidestepped. Keep dancing, though-it's amusing.

Honey, you started this dance. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying yourself, because you're sure not thinking straight about any of it.

I don't blame you. It's a big ball of disparate subjects all tied up with a lot of hurt feelings, and by the time it even gets to things like paternity suits, it's fallen a long, LONG way away from an ideal scene for anyone involved.

I'm not sure what the hype is about. Abortion rights don't figure into this because the lawsuit is not about a father forcing a pregnancy or abortion. That would make it equilvalent.

A woman doesn't have the option to refuse financially supporting a child other than adoption. I don't see a problem with a man having the option, prior to birth, of declaring that he wants either an abortion or adoption and severing his parental rights.

I also think this shouldn't be allowed if you're married, unless you have some sort of pre-nuptual contact.

Personally I think a man who isn't responsible for his own birth control, regardless of what his partner says, is as stupid as a woman who does the same thing.

If a person, whether it be male or female, knows absolutely that they have no desire to "make babies", then they should take every precaution, means, and/or device(s) available to them to prevent that very thing. Any person who believes the old "I can't get pregnant" line or the "I'm sterile, you can't get pregnant" line is almost deserving of what they get.

I myself was a single mother, and I raised my son without one penny of financial support from his 'father'. I accepted the predicament I put myself into, but he ran for the hills only to surface 19 years later. Should he have helped support his son? Definately. Did I learn my lesson? Oh you'd better believe it. But the most important person in this equation, my son, was the one who suffered the most.
