Please, please, don't let's get angry at each other when we've just started up. For what it's worth, Pratyeka is an old friend and former neighbour of mine. I'm quite sure he wasn't nitpicking just to be negative, but was trying to help the group get established with clear goals and priorities. Can we move on?

Indeed, let's.
Has anyone thought up a list of events they'd like to see us supporting at all? Let's hear it! _____________________

2nd Meeting agenda
09-23-2005 13:15
2nd meeting, Sunday Sept. 25th at 1pm Linden Time at Club Jasmine on the Isle of Bliss
I hope everyone can make it out to our 2nd meeting this weekend. (As I've mentioned, I will regrettably not be at this meeting as I am celebrating with my brother for a weekend long bachelor party) We have learned some lessons from our 1st meeting and hopefully this one will be a bit more organized, although, as I've said, we did accomplish alot in that 1st meeting. Here is my proposed agenda (please try to accomplish this at a bare minimum, but revise the agenda if needed as the meeting progresses): 1. Open with general Q&A for any new people who have questions as to what we are trying to accomplish. 2. Develop guidelines for which events we will target our support. In other words, come to some sort of *rough* agreement as to what a rich content event is. I am aware this may stem some differences in opinions, so please keep in mind this point is meant to be flexible... we just need guidelines here not laws. 3. Recruit 1 more officer. This is an invitation for anyone to nominate someone, including yourself... if more than 1 person is interested in the duty, put it to a vote via IM. (we also are on the lookout for a treasurer, so keep that in mind as well) 4. Have a public showing of logos designed by anyone who wants to give it a crack. We will vote on the logos, the winner will become our official logo, so everyone get those logos done by this Sunday... 5. Agree on the topic, format and date for our "kick-off" event, which I am proposing we plan on doing shortly after the SLCC. This was brought up by several people during the first meeting. Throw around ideas for what the event should be, where it should be held, and how to best promote it. 6. The remainder of the meeting I would like to be dedicated to discussing and working on the upcoming SLCC, where we will be having a booth from Oct. 1 through 9th. For info, click here. We need to get a booth built, literature designed and "printed", and create a schedule for those people who want to volunteer to man the booth during those days. This may not be as much work as I think it is, but we just need to make sure we get it all done. The convention starts next Saturday! Any graphic artists we have (Mustelid and Phillipe...), we will need the chosen logo put into flyers and such. We have a friend in the t-shirt business (Kaia Ennui), so hopefully we can have t-shirts to pass out as well in the booth (in fact, she was gracious enough to make 2 versions already with my 10 minute Photoshop hack of a logo and her version of the logo, which I'm hoping she will bring to the meeting to be voted on). - - - I very much apologize for the untimeliness of my brother's wedding festivities, but I will be back in full swing after next weekend, Oct. 2nd... Yes, that means I won't be in world at all this weekend or next and will miss the first 2 days of the SLCC. But as I've said, this is not just my idea. So many of you have expressed strong sentiments of interest in seeing this thing take off. So I'm hoping it's not too much to ask of all you fine people to see to it these next couple weekends are productive ones. God speed! I'll see you on the flip side ![]() PS: I of course will still be available in the forums during the week. _____________________

Indeed, let's. Has anyone thought up a list of events they'd like to see us supporting at all? Let's hear it! I think you should support Starboards Yacht Club. We offer fun and certainly rich content activities for both novice and advanced sailors in SL. Additionally people in SL that have never sailed in RL have taken up the sport in SL. Check out Hollywood sim to see what is going on. Where do I apply for a grant. GRIN. MarkTwain White |

I think you should support the Second Life Sailing Federation. Sailing is on the radar screen and the races and practices run by SLSF is a perfect example of the kind of activity we would like to support and encourage. _____________________

Today's meeting went fairly well, I think. Thanks to all who showed up.
I think we addressed the issues in RyeDin's agenda and maintained decorum, for the most part. Detail and transcript to come shortly. I would also like to add that I went ahead and purchased a 512m spot for the group in the SLCC in-world conference. Waiting on info from Hiro Pendragon regarding specifics. _____________________

Great, I am glad to hear the meeting went well. Again, my apologies for missing it.
I will be in contact with April and Gabe throughout the day to get caught up on the happenings, and how things are progressing regarding the SLCC... It's my understanding that we have a couple people working on the build for our booth and a couple other people working on the literature for the booth... wonderful! For those of you working on this stuff, could you make a quick post here (when you can) to update us all on your progress? Thanks. I think I will be able to make it in-world a couple times during the week (but then I'm out of town again for the weekend). If I get in I would like to check this stuff out and get to meet some of the new members. Anyone that was at the meeting or that is helping out in any way, including the SLCC stuff, but that I have not yet met, please if you could just give me a quick IM next time you're in (even if I am offline)... I would really appreciate it. I want to make sure I can thank you all in person and want to know who our supporters are. _____________________

MarkTwain, you got it bud! I will be making an announcement soon with details on how to apply for funding... we're making things happen people.
I need to speak with Gabe (who is our new permanent treasurer, thank you!)... as soon as we have a method for logging funds coming in vs. funds going out and making all that information public, I will open the doors for business. Stay tuned. _____________________

SLCC 512m spot for booth, 117 prims. I have a more detailed notecard from Hiro. If you want it IM me inworld.
1) Q: When do we have our space allocated? A: Oct 1. - sims are the vehicle sims south of the WA - Brilliant, Bethel, etc. 2) Q: When can we start building on the space? A: Oct 1 3) Q: What constitutes appropriate builds? A: PG-rated sims, no active scripts (no open listens, sensors, timers -- any scripts other than animating textures or particles should have a trigger rather than contiual loop) We need to (i) Complete literature for distribution; (ii) agree to some kind of content besides obvious group logo displays, notecard, tshirts (?? bulletin board, seats, slide show, drums, rides, whatever??); (iii) please post or make known if you have time to be on site during the SLCC inworld. I know this feels rushed and people are busy with other things, but we WILL have a representation and everyone's input is encouraged. _____________________

SLCC is tomorrow!!
09-30-2005 06:33
The Second Life Community Convention (SLCC) starts tomorrow (Oct. 1st). For anyone still not knowing what that is, click here. As Gabe has mentioned we will have a booth set up for the in-world version of this convention from Oct. 1 - 9. We still need help getting it all set up and with creation of the literature which we would like to pass out. Anyone currently working on this or who would like to help out, please contact Gabe Lippmann or April Chung via IM in-world or by PM in these forums...
As I have said a few times, I will not be able to make it this weekend; my brother is getting married... I will be back on the forums Monday morning (back to work)... and will do my very best to get in-world next week as much as possible (evenings only), and next weekend I will be in-world all day Sat. and Sun. ------------------------------------------- I encourage everyone to participate in the SLCC, and to help make our booth stand out. We are extremely close to being finished with our 1st stage, which is the "organizing and raising awareness" stage. The SLCC convention is a prime opportunity for us to get our voice heard and spread the word about what we are trying to do. As soon as this convention is over we will be planning our kick off event and I anticipate this will be a very large gathering. We will simultaneously be opening our "doors" for business, accepting donations/sponsorships and applications from the rich content event hosters who wish to be subsidized for their efforts. This all means that this SLCC is very important for us. We need all your help. If you have been following this thread and wanting to see it take off but not sure what you could do to help, this is it. So please, if you have time to spare these next 9 days, IM Gabe Lippmann or April Chung and come get involved... anything at all (even just your presence) will be greatly appreciated. -Rye _____________________

Ferran and I at Phobos Design are very interested in seeing high quality events put on, however, we lack the time to do it ourselves anymore. What I've read sounds good and when I get a group slot open I will have to join up. Please do continue to announce meetings so perhaps I can make a few.
We own Chaos, so we have space to lend to events. We also might consider corporate sponsorships. _____________________

SLCC update and party tonight
10-06-2005 06:37
Well hello, I'm back!
I just wanted to update everyone real quick on our booth at the SLCC. Gabe and I worked on it last night and we made some nice progress. Sadly, I didn't jot down the exact coordinates to post here, but it's in Bethel. If you fly around the SLCC grounds you should have no problems finding our spot; it's got a giant FFRC logo on the roof of a sort of open-air pavilion. You can get a free t-shirt by clicking one of the dispensers in the walls. (Do a search for places using the word "convention" to find the SLCC grounds and teleport there) There is a party tonight at Club Jasmine to get to know everyone. See April's posts above for the info.. it's on the Isle of Bliss. Come on out, it'll be a great time. I've got my chicken dance animation all ready to go ![]() _____________________

A Sad Loss
10-08-2005 10:48
I regret to have to make this post, but there has been a falling out. April Chung has stepped down as an FFRC officer. We will definitely miss her, and we truly appreciate everything she has done for the cause.
I will make another announcement shortly as to where our meetings will be held from now on. 2 out of the 3 original officers remain: myself and Gabe Lippmann. This loss will be hard, but we will be able to make it through and continue as planned. We are in need of a new officer to help fill the hole, and will also be expanding our officer count to 5. So we will be taking nominations for 3 more officers. If you are interested in helping people host rich, diverse events and wish to be an officer, please post here to nominate yourself, or IM me or Gabe in world. Likewise if you know of someone else who you think would be a good fit, nominate them as well. "We're looking for a few good AVs" ![]() If anyone is wondering what happened, I'll just say we had differing points of view and April chose to leave the group. In no way do i have ill will towards April, she has been a magnificent member of the team. One another subject, everyone should stop by our booth at the inworld SLCC grounds in Bethel (108, 152). The real world NYC convention is happening tomorrow so it should be pretty exciting. We are hoping to spread the word about what we are trying to do and maybe even find those officers we need! Come on out, we have a drum set set up for anyone to play, and perhaps we can get a game of primtionary going. Our plot is limited in prims allowed but our build is pretty light so far... should be fun either way ![]() _____________________

10-08-2005 15:38
We have a new meeting place, MarkTwain White's and Nber Medici's beauiful Hollywood sim. We will be meeting in the Hollywood dome in the center of the island.
Just do a quick search for events using the key word "foundation" and you should find the landmark to teleport... 1PM SLT, be there or be a plywood cube (square). ![]() _____________________

Let me be the first to say thank you to April. We would not have progressed so far without your enthusiasm and effort in the early stages of this group. April, you will be missed. I wish you well in your future projects.
![]() I also want to thank MarkTwain White and Nber Medici for helping us out. For those of you from the Second Life Sailing Federation and members of Starboards Yacht Club, Hollywood sim is old hat. For everyone else, Sunday is the perfect opportunity for you to check out this wonderful place and learn about the FFRC at the same time! Come on over and help us out, offer your input, or just learn to sail. ![]() _____________________
