An opinion, a question, then a proposal.

Opinion : I am getting sick of reading about this, with all of its vagaries, innuendos and mud slinging.

Question : After reading all this and the posts in question - does anyone want to protect the anonymity of the person of who posted those threads ?

Proposal : Publish the IP address - most of us own web sites so we can add it to our ban list - some of us are techi enough to see where it came from and draw our own conclusions, and if the IP address is yours you get the right to

Considering this thread is nothing but accusations, naming people, mudslinging, airing of private disputes that should have remained so, discussing potentially illegal activity and more, why has it not been locked? Are the resmods even still around?

One thing that really bothered me last week when I was being business name griefed by the W-HAT related group was that the death threats delivered to me were made in world by a member, with chat logs to back it up. When I reported it live online to one of the only liason Lindens online at the time, I was told that it was NOT HARASSMENT, and to call the police!!

I have known this liason Linden since 2003, have loved her as Linden and was extremely shocked by her reaction, or lack of reaction.

How can threats made in world to "make someone dead" while griefing them not be harassment? I was truly disappointed by her response especially when she ignored my IMS after that while the incident continued.

Anyone who has participated in SL related forums for any length of time has seen some pretty nasty interactions between people. It comes with the territory - I suppose it is SL's version of PVP action. However, this morning I saw something that reaches I think one of the lowest points I have seen, and as jaded as I am about forums, really disturbed me.

On a third party forum site, a user posted a clear death threat against MadamG Zagato, warning that if she shows up at the next SLCC she will be shot and asking if anyone wants to help take a stab at her. That alone would have been enough, but a different user (though who knows, they could be the same person) started a poll on the best method to use to rape MadamG, with poll options detailing various ways to rape her.

I don't even have words for how sickening I think this is. No matter how much you may dislike someone, wishing that level of violence on them is pathetic and beyond disturbing. What further blows my mind is people have participated in the threads, adding further insult to injury (and perhaps even guilt by association). These are not harmless posts - people have been stalked, raped and murdered by people who track them down from online.

I notified MadamG because I don't think she reads the particular forums in question. The forum operator has indicated he will cooperate with authorities, so hopefully criminal actions with be pursued against the people who created these posts. How in the hell does it even come to this?

I would imagine that what you saw as a death threat, she saw as something else. Without the full context it is impossible to judge.
