That's true, Ingrid. Not everyone enjoys submitting to contests, and even fewer think getting interviewed by a magazine would be fun.

Cocoanut,
Just FYI, the Fortune interview opportunity was not announced in the forums. _____________________

No, it wasn't - but as I understand it, Prok responded to another post for another publication, and was told that one had been filled, but that he would be put in the queue for consideration for the next one.
So apparently if you express interest in one publication, and they don't need you, you might still be considered for the next one that comes along. Though it wouldn't hurt to submit to any and all announcements in the PR Suggestion Box that you see that you are interested in, whether or not you have submitted your interest before. In any case, he responded to a post calling for people who might want to be interested in being interviewed that appeared in the newly-created PR Suggestion Box forum. Fortune was the next one that came up, soon after that one, and he was offered consideration for that. coco _____________________

I received a response that they went with some projects that matched the conservative bent of the Weekly Standard. There was no mention of being put in queue for the next opportunity that came up. You are always going on and on about how these things should be announced. Why am I not surprised that as soon as it benefitted you or someone on your approved list, you would backtrack? _____________________

Yes, they do, and they are always very nice about everything, too! But then again, they are always very nice anyway!

I'm talking - and was talking in the other thread - that they ARE being announced. As I said in the other thread, I don't believe the PR Suggestion Box, which offers consideration for these opportunities, has always been here since day one. The PR Suggestion Box - as well as the other two things I lauded in the other thread - has benefitted far more people than just me or someone who is a friend of mine. coco _____________________

Best forum day ever. That it is, Ingrid. coco P.S. I will be taking my leave now, and allowing others to put whatever spin they wish on all this. But to sum up, I happy that these opportunities are now available for anyone who is interested, and pleased and proud that I was one of the beneficiaries of this wonderful system. I would encourage everyone who finds this sort of thing fun and satisfying to keep an eye on the Announcements forum, and on the PR Suggestion Box forum, for other any such opportunities they might be interested in applying for. P.S. There is another one in the PR Suggestion Box now, this time for people who run religious organizations in SL! But you have to hurry - she says the turnround is fast, as always. _____________________

That has been your mantra. God knows if it has not included Prokofy, but say for example, Flipper, you would have been crying foul all over again since it had not been announced. _____________________

If this is the case, if the opportunity to be in Fortune was not announced or transparent enough, and if Coco and ... well you know who are at all pleased about being featured, then it's obvious to me that they both owe everyone they have ever criticized or bashed for being "featurati" a very very big and heartfelt apology. Let the healing begin!

I guess it just always boils down to what your motivations are. Many people can just be happy doing what they love without needing recognition. Others need attention. LL's decisions were a step in the right direction for those who crave the spotlight. But it means very little to so many others who just don't. Well said. |

I'm not surprised at all that Anshe got contacted for it, and even Prokofy because she probably begged for the attention, but Aimee is a bit surprising. Didn't know Aimee really ran a big-money business, she has her wonderful clothing store but only updates it like 4 times a year lol.
And yeah, I like the idea that Prok and Coco are all smiles and giggles about this, where otherwise they would have been posting pages and pages of threads throwing around words like "featuratti" and such. But that's hypocracy for you I suppose. I'm going to have to look out for the article. _____________________

Helpful hint: when the article comes out, look for the phrase "bored, deadpan voice." LL has picked a winner for the new face of SL business!
